an early yet hurried MMP

I’ve actually seen tenterhooks in action. Envy me. :stuck_out_tongue:

I should go to bed but I’m not sleepified yet and don’t want to take a melatonin tonight since I took one last night.

Maybe I’ll just surf some more.

I suppose you’re right, first names are probably okay, and his first name is William. (MamaTigs, you thought she was about to pop when you saw her, you should have seen her last week!)

Nothing else is happening. I’ve got another hour here at work. I don’t mind working until 9, because it means I don’t have to get up early, and I’d rather stay a bit lateish than have to work at the crack of dawn.

Are you certain they didn’t spell it Wyllaeym?

I’m gettin’ sleepified.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

Like I said, that’d be the only problem, and I’ve only heard the name aloud. Though honestly knowing the mother I don’t think they’d have done that to the poor kid!

I forgot to mention that my concern about identifying people comes from the fact that this is a small town and the place we work is very well known. I’m a bit paranoid about the occasional weirdo online (nobody in this thread, of course, is weird in the way I’d be worried about!).

my “learn a new thing every day” is the lesson on tenterhooks - I always thought they were called tenderhooks and had to do with hanging a side of beef so it would tenderize (shows you how much I know)

have I mentioned I hate how much walking I have to do now? and how much I hate the idiots on the highway during morning rush hour? and how much I hate getting up an hour earlier that I had been? and my much smaller cubby? and no place to put pictures of Jon and Abby? and not being able to surf during the day even when I do have access? and the walking? I really hate the walking the most.

I need mumpers help!!!

I’m not a fashion expert At. All. BUT the scrapbook store is having a contest for creating clothes for their paper doll and they are going to bring it to the huge scrapbook tradeshow (CHA) in July. I need some websites/links to some fashionable clothes. Cost whatever doesn’t matter as I’m just looking for inspiration.

I need to creat an outfit (including accessories) for the following categories:
-Chic (but comfy) clothes to wear while shopping on the floor and meeting all the designers.
-Casual clothes to lounge in while paging through catalogs.
-PJ’s for lounging around the hotel room.
-Evening wear for going out to dinner.
-Party clothes for living it up on the Chicago streets with the girls from the store.

Any and all help appreciated!!!

Lili, Grandboy says that he listens to meditation CDs and ocean wave sounds to get to sleep and has since he was very young (he doesn’t remember being preverbal, but he remembers ocean sounds from waaaaay back.) Maybe it’s too quiet for Gnat and some ambient noise might help out some.

Rigs, how old is your non-reading kid and is he up to grade level with his reading? Since I have the resident expert in Kidstuff in residence today I can always ask him what he’d recommend for a Garfield lover who doesn’t wanna branch out. Has he tried “Eragon” yet? Execrable book but written by a kid (which the kids find fascinating) and Grandboy found it fascinating when he was in about 4th or 5th grade. Hope everything’s okay with TH…

Busy, busy, busy today–things are heating up again and I’m being turned loose to work my wiles on suppliers. I found a place today that knocked off $2 per unit of a spendy component we need, they gave me totally cheap shipping and best of all I don’t have to deal with POS JC Whitney any more, w00t! So that saved us $500 today and I knocked another $250 off our ABS order too. I am UberShoppingBitch, fear me! I just love spending other people’s money, it roxxorz…

I got “In Bruges” from da Netflix so I think I’ma gone curl up on the couch, disarrange my brain and watch Colin Farrell. Mmmmm, sleazy Irishman, [Home Simpson] gguuuuhhh!! [/Homer Simpson]

Check out Twinkie Chan. She’s my long-time internet crush and has lots of fun clothes.

Real quick because Daughter is on my laptop, but TH has been made acting President of his place of employment. <breathes huge sigh of relief>

Thank God. Off to bed now. Thanks for all the support–you guys rock.

Beebs, I’m almost scared to check out your link.

Yay Rigs!! Glad it all worked out ok.

It’s safe. If you want NSFW links of hot chicks I can always dig those up too.
Oh, and anyone is looking for **LOUNE ** he’s usually hanging around the baseball threads. Someone needs to start up another Threadkiller thread though, that will get him going again.

taps foot impatiently…

Hi guys! (and gals. OK, *especially *gals :D)

I’m here, mostly keeping track but not posting much. Just thought you wanted to know…

**Rigs **-- now that’s what I call snatching victory out of the jaws of defeat! Yay for TH’s promotion  (And I think it’s nice that your still rooting for him, despite everything, too.)

**Ivory **-- when you say your thoughts were wondering far away… do you have a direction? East by Southeast, perchance?

**Lili **-- no specific thoughts, just wanted to sympathize. BTDT, GT(spots of baby barf on the)TS… The good news is they do eventually grow out of it.
The bad news is that “eventually” is not a very well defined timeframe…

::Waves to Nava, too. Just because::

Where’s Haze?

South Korea?

::Looks around furtively::

::whispers:: That’s what she wants us to think!

Yay on the paying insurance, Sweetie Pie!

And yay for rigs and for brand new babies with normal names

Hopefully we’ll soon be able to yay about a sleeping baby, too.

waves at the rest of the night shift

I’ve told this before: Littlebrother was perfectly able to read at the proper age (if not before). He just refused to do it altogether, at least in part because he saw reading as being his biggest competitor for the atentions of everybody else in the family. After all, if you’re the youngest child you’re entitled to being entertained by your elders when you say “I’m bored, entertain me!” right? But no, we’d say “I’m reading” or “I’m cooking” or “I’m doing my homework” and then “entertain yourself.” So he’d read the bare minimum needed for school, but for example if he could get the Cliff Notes or find a movie he didn’t read the book; he didn’t read comic books but only look at the pictures, so of course he missed most jokes.

He didn’t get healed of it until he was 14, when he finally got fed up with hearing “read the freaking books, it’s not like you don’t have them at home” whenever he asked the rest of us in the table-RPG group something about a monster or LotR character. First book he ever read was the LotR trilogy, second was Neverending Story.

So like babies sleeping, reading is sometimes a matter of patience and of keeping the right items around.

Morning all, up and caffeinating here. Happy Hump Day!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Ima make some brekkies soon cause tummy is rumbly. I’m thinkin’ some bacon, scrambled aigs, grits and toast would be good. Then Ima get busy cause I’m workin’ from da cave and if’n I get busy I could have some pool time this afternoon bein’ as it’s gonna be hawt and great pool weather.

Sounds like a plan to me!

Ok, time for more caffiene and brekkie makin’.

Later Y’all!

Morning, everyone.

All right, we’ll consider taking pictures.

You know, if you go to bed at 6:30 because that’s when the baby is going to bed, dammit, and you’re not getting up without him, you get lots of sleep.

We both went to bed very very early last night.

Sigh. Mr. Lissar’s godpfather (his Anglican one) has started snarkily emailing us to guilt-trip us for not going to his photo and poetry exhibition, with an extra heavy load of, “I went to your child’s baptism even though I hate the Catholic Church, and you couldn’t show?”

For an evening gig, no car, baby? Um, hello?

Will he be willing and able to keep tinyninjachef calm and change his diapers?

If the answer is no, he is hereby cordially welcome to kiss Gnat’s ass. After you take the diaper off, but before you wipe it!
