Amazingly, I’m not… except for the end of my left middle finger, which I mashed between two logs. Got the joint.
Morning all. Up about 7:30am and feel fine. Dinner is the Dine Out day, Texas Roadhouse and a steak is on the schedule for later. Rain this afternoon and more tonight and tomorrow. Paper today says the CDC (Center for Disease Control) says Ali-bama is 50th in COVID vaccinations, so no idea when I’ll be able to get mine. Typical of this place.
Nut, I’m with the cold folks; these days I wander about the house in a sweatshirt and sweatpants until the place is properly heated (I turn the heat down at night while I’m under the heavy comforter). Hope you can come to an agreement.
swampy, hope nobody protests your election…
flyboy, ouch! I think shoe’s joints are probably better than that…
OK, back to whatever I was doing. All y’all have a good Sunday.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Gordie woke me up at 0500 to go to the bathroom, which was better than the alternative:
So no more nearly standing up to the Vicious Chicken of Bristol?
well, when Flyboy does his lawn care, they will both be weeding.
Good morning. They are still threatening us with the possibility of lowland snow. However, as of right now it’s 37 degrees out, so it’s not happening now. Cloud cover moved in, so that warmed things up a bit.
Ah, the PNW, where we have weather that can never make up its mind and, here on the west side of the Cascades, lowland snow is Armageddon for some people. I don’t mind it, but I don’t have to commute in my car. The one upside to COVID induced 100% telework.
Today is laundry day. I need to get my walk/run in. My ear covering headband arrived yesterday. Thank goodness. Since I put my hair up in a ponytail, the ears become a little cold when I am walking in the cold.
I need to get some kind of protein in me. It’ll be full daylight by eight, so I need to get my hiney in gear.
nut, you sound like my late mother. She rarely wore long sleeves and would run out to the mailbox barefoot with snow on the ground.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. The usual Sunday chores are slated for the day and …gasp…I might even dust.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
I haven’t had a day without tears in so long I think it’s habit now. Everyday I wake it takes a nanosecond to realize he’s not here anymore. I have finally started to have dreams again. I never remember them but feel like I went without for a while. I do remember I dreamt that my son was an infant last night. That’s all I remember.
I vacuumed the living room/ kitchen as I dropped a jar and there is no way that jar was comprised of that much glass. Can’t have glass slivers in the Budsters feet. I summoned my neighbor for a chat. Just a bitch session but she dutifully listened. I made the bed so I wouldn’t be tempted to get back in it. Need to go to the store but that terrifies me now. I’ve been driving my old car cause my new car needs gas. I guess I could go to the gas station.
I still haven’t finished that budgeting class and emailed the teacher for a little extra time. It will be on the clock time. Not my own time. I was told I should finish it over the weekend. Ain’t happening.
Ready to quit my job. Hate it these days. New Director is so damned perfect there is no way I could ever satisfy him, ever. My direct boss is his yes woman. She can’t make a decision without running it past him. I would rather have the old asshole back or even the thief or the one before him that had mentally checked out 10 years prior to finally retiring.
Misery loves company and I have none.
You have us FWIW.
Such as we are
I was too tired, and it was starting to get dim yesterday, so I left the wood pile in the front yard. Now it’s getting covered with a light snow.
Mrs. L.A. only wanted half of a breakfast today – one scrambled egg, and half a slice of 9-grain toast with margarine and jam. She would have eaten twice that, but she doesn’t want to overdo it. I had two slices of low-carb toast, each topped with an over-easy egg, and two sausage patties.
We’re here for you

Today I need to try to finish the huge photo sorting job I started a week ago. It’s not that there are thousands of photos; it’s that I already had photo albums completed, and now I have to either move every photo on every page or have pages with just one or two photos on them. Also, I was so busy when the kids were growing up that I seldom wrote dates on the back. It’s a good project for someone in my situation: it demands just enough attention to keep me from dwelling on my emotions without requiring the concentration I don’t have.
{{{{Butters}}}} I’m so sorry. Give yourself credit for putting one foot in front of the other, for breathing, for summoning your friend–all things that are much harder than normal.
Moooom, you’re such a kind person to compliment others today. Here’s one for you: you’re so organized, efficient, and energetic, Ike could’ve used you when planning D-Day. And you seem like a lot of fun to be around, too.
BooFae, your housemates can always add layers, but there are only so many you can take off. [pause for mental lecherous remarks by various Mumpers] Tell 'em to put on another jumper and have a nice cuppa if they’re cold.
flyboy, sorry about the finger. Are you going to have to clear off the snow and move the logs today, or can it wait for the melt? So far we’ve had rain only, though tomorrow’s forecast has snowflakes on it.
It’s melting already. Still seeing flakes, but it’s supposed to turn to rain.
FCD and I just finished sorting his 20-year box. It was closer to a 40-year box - a container full of assorted miscellany left over from various and sundry jobs. Stuff that we didn’t necessarily need but it was too good to throw away, yanno?
Except some was truly junk - broken pieces, torn papers, corroded bits. We pulled out things that could be useful - stainless steel hardware, various hooks and eyes, assorted bolts and nuts, lots of cotter keys and pins. But we also tossed a lot - towards the end, we just decided to toss it all.
We had lunch at Red Robin and I got my free birthday burger. It will hold me thru supper - at most, I may have an apple later. But for now, I shall resume crocheting in the recliner.
{{{Butters}}} - hang in there, sweetie! If you need something exciting to look forward to, we might actually get to meet in June, assuming we’ve been vaccinated and our cruise goes as scheduled. How’s that for a freekin’ ray of sunshine!
Oh, I’m am absolute delight! Just ask the various Mumpers who have met me… (she said, daring anyone to cross her…) In fact, MetalMouse and I met twice, once in my very home! Yeah, I’m a treasure.
OK, back to the recliner.
Howdy Y’all! We have virtually deheathenated, zoom met, did a drive by happy birthday and even et. All is well. After the annual meetin’, the Vestry met to elect officers. In what I can only describe as a moment of complete insanity, I agreed to be church janitor Junior Warden again. Some of y’all will recall I did this two years ago. Last year I did not want to. However, here I am again. Anywho, whilst that was happenin’, OYKW went to Booger King to get us burgers 'n fries, except I got a chikin sammich cause I like BK’s chicken sammich. Thus has been my day.
No recliner yet - I got an email from the county and as a result, I’ve now got a reservation for my COVID shot on Saturday! WOO and HOO!!!
Today was the day I planned to do nothing. Not a damn thing. On the way to doing nothing, I made the bed, did a load of bedding laundry, ate breakfast, fed the kitties, indoor and out, reorganized the kitchen, decluttered the top of the fridge, swept the garage, emptied, trashed, recycled and organized the linen closet, which Dee had turned into a junk closet ala Fibber McGee, are lunch, run the dishwasher, baked a batch of cookies, ate lunch, and put together a big bag of clothes and purses for Goodwill. All by 10:30am.
Now can I do nothing?
I’m jealous. My county, the second largest city and the capital, is too disorganized to even have an idea of when geezers like me will get ours. They may be hoping we’ll all die off. I am trying to not cooperate little ploy.
That’s exactly the same as us…
Yeah. Rub it in why doncha?
It snowed here this morning, and stuck.
Then it quit and most of the snow melted.
Now it’s snowing again.
Not big fluffy flakes, just little tiny ones. And they aren’t sticking.
Don’t know if we’ll take the doggos for a walk later or not.
Wifey is fixing to bake bread. She says it’s ‘rustic honey oat’ bread. It looks beautiful, but I won’t get to taste it for at least an hour. It’s still rising.
I’m wasting time on the 'puter. Procrastinating. It’s my superpower.
See y’all tomorrow.
{{{butters}}} Whaddya mean, no company? Ya got us!
nellie, your photo project sounds intriguing. I inherited the old family photos on both sides and have been scrapbooking them for years. Given that every time I turn around, someone is giving me more, I have enough material to see me through retirement. One of the hints that I can give you is to not organize all of them chronologically, but as you add, group them by event or subject.
Got the Sunday chores done, talked to Sis for a while, didn’t get to the dusting and just ate some of the gumbo that I made for supper.
See you all tomorrow!
That sounds like it would make a very good banana sandwich. Oh, and a belated happy birthday! (Or an extremely early one for next year. )
I’ve been saying for years that I think the ultimate career would be revoltingly rich idle layabout.
