An MMP of Elopement

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. We’re just going to have a quiet night at home tonight and then do something on the weekend. Too hard to do much on a weeknight.

snowbunny, I think we got your snow here. We got ~3" yesterday, and it looks beautiful, but my normal 5 min drive home took almost 25 with 20 min being spent just to get about 1/4 of a mile! Ugh. It was a complete parking lot on the road that goes past our work building. It’s nice to have a good layer of snow on the ground to start off the winter, though. It should be cold enough now that this’ll stick around for Christmas so we’re pretty well assured of having a white Christmas. Yay!

soapy, that was easy. You should have put down diamond earrings.

I had to pick up Starbucks for a client meeting this morning and so got to treat myself to a low-fat latte which I am enjoying immensely.

We’re supposed to get that front, too, swampy. It is very oddly shaped from the weather maps I’ve seen.

Hopefully the weather will be nice for our Luminaries night on Saturday. For those who don’t know, my neighborhood goes all out just before Xmas and there’s a big party. Everyone goes outside to admire the decorations and partake in activities such as hayrides, firetruck rides, pony rides, horse and carriage rides, a rockwall and petting zoo and much more. It’s great fun.

snowbunny, my year out there in the same mountains was a drought year for snow. Oh, we did have some but nothing like normal and it really put a damper on the ski season.

Currently, the no snow signs are working.

Tupug

I think my sister got 6" last night.

Prof. Rapunzel - that is hilarious. I’m going to try that next time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Shelli - yeah, it does seem like we’re making some progress. Hopefully. To be perfectly honest the biggest reason we haven’t already jumped each other yet is because I’m staying with my parents and he’s staying with friends for the moment. All that will change in a few weeks, so I dunno what’s going to happen then.

On a tangent, it’s reeeeeeeeeally tempting to blow my bonus on frivolities but I’m going to nobly put it away in my travel savings. I made a new best friend at work - we call each other Doppleganger because we are always so much on the same wavelength it’s kinda scary. It’s sooooo nice having a close girl friend again - after Scottish Darling went away I haven’t really had one since. Anyway the two of us (Doppleganger and I) are plotting a trip to Greece in the spring, and BOTH of us got bonuses for being A instructors so we are both quite happy with life right now.

Tomorow’s my day off, yay. I should get some Christmas shopping done.

Perhaps I should start planting “Please Snow” signs around town. sigh Last year was a really good snow year, so I guess Somebody has decided we overdid our quota or something.

Oh well. I will be caffienating any moment and the only thing I have to do today is take Sapphire to the vet (just the “this is me and this is my feline overlord” visit, she’s fine and just got her shots in October at the shelter). This is particularly easy since if I walk outside and look to the right I can see the clinic. Easy walking distance, even if it’s cold, we’ll only be outside for three minutes, and I’ll have a nice warm blanket for her to snuggle into. Then I don’t have to do anything at all!

Okay, no elephants then congrats and best wishes all around.
I made some bread machine Italian bread last night. The loaf is a monster. I cut a piece this morning for toast and about an inch of it didn’t fit in the toaster, I had to turn it around and toast that side a little. It’s great crusty bread but now I think I need a thick stew to eat with it and I don’t have fixin’s for a stew. I do have stuff to make chili but I don’t eat chili with bread, I eat it with tortilla chips or crackers. Oh well. I am on a bread machine kick right now, I think I’ll start a thread in CS for recipes.

Blurf.

Woke up to lots and lots of ugly brown slush outside. Shoveled the worst of it off the sidewalk and then did a mad dash to the bus stop. And of course, because Mother Nature has a grudge against me, it started snowing heavily just as I arrived at work… so I’ll have lots of shoveling waiting for me when I get home tonight, too. :smack:

I keep telling the clouds that they should go dump on you instead, snowbunny, but they don’t seem to be listening. Then again, it’s kinda crappy snow for skiing… too wet and slippy. (the kind of snow that once gave me a near-concussion when I attempted to snowboard… but that’s another story)

Oh, and to make it perfect, our A/C cover seems to have magically vanished overnight. I shall have to seek out a replacement and hope that we have a snow-free day in the near future so that I can cover it up again.

AAAARGH.

Perfect weather for my knee-high rubber boots, though, so I wore those for my slog to work.

I’m a tired mouse. There are some days that I think I should be able to hibernate, today is one of them.

Snowbunny I don’t have snow yet, but you are welcome to all of it. It’s bitter cold outside, and you’re welcome to that as well.

More later.

I actually got some sleep last night! I haven’t slept more than 3 - 4 hours a night for the last 3 weeks or so. I feel soooo much better.

I figured out what happened to the missing expenses. They were from the last fiscal year, but run through late. At least the rest will be easy to find.

Hi, all. I am here. Blurf. I’ve said many times that I nearly fell asleep over my keyboard, but last night I finally managed to literally fall asleep while in the midst of working. I woke up, fortunately, to only a half a line of gobbledygook. I am definitely not at my best today.

Off to eat some more and watch last night’s Daily Show and who knows what else.

I’m hearing stories of a semi vs. semi collision in Cottonfield County that has shut down the big highway that connects Suffolk VA to Greenvegas where Spaz lives. It’s turning into a major cluster f**k because of all the emergency resources consumed to close the road and clean up the mess (no major injuries, BTW).

Sometimes it’s good to be at work, missing the action.

Whew - what a day! I had to go to DC for a training/info session. First off, it started about 35 minutes late - I think the presenters’ driver got lost. After about an hour, we had our first break. About *THREE AND ONE HALF HOURS LATER *we had our second break. No lunch break.

GAH!!

Luckily, they had a bunch of bagels and drinks, so I didn’t starve. And further luck got us out of there just ahead of rush hour, so I had time to stop at the post office and mail my defective electric mattress pad control back to the manufacturer. Then I got home and built some Death Chicken - I think we’ll do our anniversary dinner out on Friday.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm - the house is smelling teh YUM!!! Huzzah!

What else? Nothing that I can think of right now. Except Happy Anniversary, **taxi **and KT!

Sending snow thoughts to **snowbunny **- you can have our share!

It’s quit o’clock (plus 30, but we’ll pretend that I left on time for once). Time to pack it in and go home!

Methinks it’s a homemade cream of mushroom and grilled cheese sandwich kind of night. Yep.

It appears that the rumor mill at KT’s work was off by a week. They just announced layoffs today and, I’m guessing, will go around telling people if they’re keeping their job tomorrow. So one more day of worrying. They’re letting about 1/4 of the workforce go so it’s gonna hurt.

Nice anniversary present.

I really wish I could have gotten him to work on his resume over the weekend. Now seems like the time when having an up-to-date resume would be a good thing. :smack:

Appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for KeithT.

Rebo the front is headed this way. Tomorrow promises to be stormy. Puggy and I will be sure to think of you durin’ it.

Y’all need to head on over to rigs I need a hug thread. I’d link to it but I forgot to and my sinuses hurt so I can’t think about how to right now. Y’all can find it though. She needs the hugs right now. Plus chocolate and foot rubs like I said in the thread.

I made chicken 'n dumplin’s last night. Tonight I heated 'em up and nuked some frozen peas ‘n carrots. It was not too shabby if’n I do say so myself. There’s enough chicken ‘n dumplin’s leftover for dindin tomorrow night. Mayhaps I’ll nuke some succotash to go with. I like succotash. So does ol’ y’all know who. Hopefully tomorrow will be spend the night night. He had to eat and go tonight cause he’s got an early day tomorrow and it just makes more sense for him to leave from his place bein’ as it’s a lot closer.

Hugs, yays, boos, congrats, icks, trouts… distribute as needed.

Later Y’all!

Supper was gooooooooood! Dishwasher is loaded. Daughter is grading papers, SIL is setting up their 2nd computer, **FCD **is watching TV.

Scruffy is just full of stuff today - she actually attacked Taz! Cracked us up! It’s about 57F outside right now - very bizarre, considering how cold it was yesterday.

I’m thinking it’s a good time for some anniversary ice cream. Yum.

I wish I could email you all the smell from my house right now. It’s Teh Yum.

I just pulled a batch of cinnamon-anise crisps from the oven, and they smell gooooooooood. I’m just waiting on them to cool off so I can check if they taste good too.

Not much else on the go otherwise… cream of mushroom soup is bubbling away on the stovetop, grilled cheese are assembled and ready for grillin’, and The Boy has called to inform me he’s on his way home. Huzzah.

{{taxi}} Fingers crossed that KT won’t be needing that spruced-up resume anytime soon. A bunch of my friends have gotten laid off recently and we’ve had to let go most of our contractors at work… not the kind of news you want to get just before the holidays, that’s for sure. :frowning:

Since Noonie asked so nice…

Some cool pics from our trip to Boston at the New England Aquarium:

Hugs and good thoughts headed out to taxi and KT. Here’s hoping that he makes it through the layoffs.

Here’s a link to rigs’s thread. And extra hugs.

Hee…forgot to say that your elephant remark made me giggle last night, Wile E.

Yay on the new best friend, Haze! It’s so nice to have close friends who are actually nearby.

Those crisps sound yummy, Muppet. (Haven’t actually looked at the recipe; just the name sounds yum.)

Hi BibKitty! Glad to see proof that you’re working hard. :stuck_out_tongue:

Can you add something for me to your friend’s grocery list, Soapy? Hmmmm…what do I want? Your story made me laugh.

GT

Did not work all day. Beer is poured, chili is cooking. It’s 60 right now, so there is a lack of snow.

Good luck to KT.

Neat pics, Soapy.
