Never mind. Can’t count.
Aww. And I had just touted you as the “math person” in the group.
Oh, I can do math… I just can’t count!
(Of course sometimes I feel like I don’t count, but that’s a different story…)
When will my back feel better, now that I’ve had the injections?
And, for anyone else here who’s had these done, is it always such a grand production? I checked in at the Ambulatory Surgery Unit, got put into a room and waited. Nurses came in and asked questions that I’d been asked time and time before, inserted an IV catheter into my wrist (OWWW! What nerve did you hit? I’m feeling very woozy now…) and eventually, someone fetched me and rolled me to Radiology. I get asked the same round of questions for the fourth time. Roll off the gurney onto the fluoroscope table, and the doctor says “This will be cold and wet” <YIPES! Brrr…Cold! Ewww…it’s dribbling between my cheeks. EEP! He’s doing it a second time!> as he starts washing my backside with Betadine. He then asks for something like 2 of Versed and 50 of Demerol, I hear someone confirm the amounts, and then I was back in the ASU room.
I guess I just need to be patient and let the stuff work. So, anything interesting happen to you today?
So many weddings, so little pics! I wanted to see gotti and DH all gussied up, darnit!
The shoe is the kind of thing that I wouldn’t pay for in a zillion years but adore it being handmade. Makes me think of that recent thread from RedRosesForMe asking whether handmade gifts are “not good enough.” They’re definitely good enough, when they’re made just for you!
Hats are worn on your ass?
What Nava? You never heard of an asshat?
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. It’s warmish out with rain on the way. Forecast says by late mornin’ we’ll have tstorms and the like. Should make for an interestin’ hump day.
Ok, need more caffiene. Need brekkies. Need purtification for work.
Later Y’all!
{{{{Rigs}}}}
More hugs, here, to supplement the ones over there.
{{{Taxi}}} – crossing fingers for no news (which will be good news!) for KT.
You both hang in there!
**Ivory **-- lovely pics!
Thinking snowy thoughts for SnowBunny
Good morning to everybody else (well, good afternoon to **Dotty **and Nava. And good evening Haze, if’n you’re about :))
::runs screaming through the MMP::
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!
So much to do. (We open tomorrow.) So little time.
Wish me luck!
::runs back out, groping Noonie and doggio on the way::
Lots of appendages crossed for a good opening, Pie.
I’m thinking the questioning and re-questioning is probably a malpractice risk reduction technique, gotti. rigs would know, since she works in ambulatory surgery (or something similar), but she’s a bit busy right now.
Where’s beebs been? Seems like he hasn’t checked in in a while.
Today’s donwannas are mysteriously less serious than yesterday’s. Even though I didn’t sleep enough and have bunches of stuff I didn’t get done yesterday.
Hope everyone has a reasonable day today. We’ve got way too much icky stuff happening to too many people lately. Hugs and hugs and hugs for everyone.
GT
As we used to say before exams: may you not need luck, Pie!
It’s colder’n a witch’s tits here. While it’s not snowing in town, it is nearby: we combine low temperatures with seaside high humidity. The Big Boss was in the building today and there was a practice evacuation which basically meant people got to shiver outside for a few minutes. I’m freezing, haven’t quite recovered from a possible food poisoning (we suspect the almonds) I got on Monday, and I’ve got stuff to do but can’t do it yet as I need other people to do steps first.
My agent is coming over for coffee. I know that his biggest client has cut rates for outsourced personnel, leaving him in a bad position (he can’t cut the rates for the people who are salaried, which is about half his workforce). Will I have a rate increase for next year? Will I be told I must take a rate cut? Will Quit O’Clock arrive soon? I have a mixture of the donwannas and the wannablanket…
It’s cooooldd this morning! About 35° and storming. They’re talking about snow flurries, for Og’s sake! Send it to palebunny, that’s what I say.
Good luck, Pie! Take a few deep breaths!
{{{Mumpers}}}
So I guess it’s true what they say - appliances die in threes. First our TV, then our coffeemaker, now the frickin’ microwave quit. Arrrggh! At least we got a $50 gift card with the purchase of our TV (Best Buy Reward Zone.) So I’ll be leaving early to go pick it up on the way home.
Better do some work…
morning all! I’m up and caffeinating, finally–I originally woke up @ 5 am but didn’t feel so hot so fell back asleep, then didn’t re-awaken until 8:30 am. I guess that was my body telling me it wasn’t going in to work today! That’s okay, though, because I have some things to do this morning that couldn’t wait until this afternoon and I’ll go take care of them first. I just have one question: why does it cost $198 one way for the Greyhound fare from Little Rock AR to Washington DC!!! That seems excessively high to me for a -bus- fare! Little Rock is where my son is, btw.
More hugs for those who need them, esp. Rigs. Good luck, CutiePie!
Grrrrr. Someone stole our green bin sometime last week… which, of course, I didn’t notice until last night when I went to put out the garbage for the day and discovered it wasn’t near the backyard gate where we usually keep it. (for the non-Torontonians, which I guess is 99% of the Mumpers, a green bin is a medium-sized green wheelie bin that we get from the city for organic waste pickup, which they turn into very nice compost)
Unfortunately, we only get the first one free from the city, so now I’ve got to drag my butt to the hardware store in the cold and pay $30 of my own damn money to replace it. That’s on top of the $15 it’ll cost to get a new A/C cover, since the thief appears to have helped himself to that as well. ARGH.
Woe be on the thief if he lives nearby. Our house number was written on that bin, so I’ll be able to spot it pretty easily… and when I do, I’m gonna grab my bin, take it home, and then come back and egg his house for good measure.
OK, time to pretend to get some work done. My director is going to sit in for an hour and watch me work… aren’t I lucky?
ETA: Good luck, Pie! I’m sure it’ll go wonderfully.
Not entirely bad news here. KT’s company announced yesterday that they will be making cuts in January. So we’ve got some time. He’s going to start looking for jobs immediately, and there’s a company-wide shut down between 12/20 and 1/3 so he can use the second week for interviews if he can get any that quickly. (The first week we’ve got travel scheduled for my birthday and Christmas.) So if there’s something available that he can find in the next month, he should be able to volunteer to be one of the people let go. So in theory, not bad. In actuality, I don’t know how many companies are hiring right now, but we’ll keep our fingers crossed!
Since it was our anniversary yesterday, KT brought home flowers for me and I made chicken parm and molten chocolate babycakes. It was good. Mmmmmm, chocolate. So we had a pretty good anniversary.
Today my manager’s out because she had to take her husband to the ER this morning. They think either kidney stones or a ruptured appendix or a severe infection. None of which sound good, but hopefully they’re all treatable.
Just doesn’t seem like it’s been a very good week for Mumpers or those around us!
Morning, all. It’s a yukky grey, gloomy day here. I did not want to get out of bed. Turns out with good reason – as soon as I got up, my insides started churning and I got a headache, too. So I’m debating whether I’m going to even try to do any work, or just curl up and feel miserable and sorry for myself. Frankly, that sounds good about now.
Happy anniversary, taxi and KT! How many is this? And kind of good news on the job front; time is a useful thing. Waiting to find out isn’t good, but at least knowing it’s not happening till after the holidays has to help. When Papa Tigs was under threat of layoff a few years ago, it was a relief when it actually happened; knowing, even bad news, turned out to be better than not knowing. Here’s hoping he lands on his feet, however it turns out.
This is sure a quiet MMP. Tuesday, and we’re still only on page 2? Weird.
I’m glad you found a new girlfriend, Haze. That can make such a difference. My sister, who had been dropped like a rock by all her old friends when she was diagnosed with Parkinson’s, has recently met a bunch of delightful women in her neighborhood and has gotten all active and busy again with dinner parties and just hanging out. She sounds happier than she’s been in years. And her Parkinson’s is doing so well that she’s even going to try doing some cross-stitch; she was an amazing quilter and sewer and musician before her diagnosis, so I’m really hoping she’s able to do some, even if it’s only on large-count Aida, just for the personal satisfaction it brings. Fine motor control is the first thing to go in Parkinson’s and, even when it’s brought under good control, the hardest thing to regain in any way, shape, or form, so I’m really pleased that she’s doing so well. And hopefully the upcoming change in federal policies about things like stem cell research will provide a cure while she still is able to take advantage of it!!
Anyway, back to doing something. Even if that’s doing nothing. Is it bedtime yet?
Huzzah! Working with the director looming over my shoulder has been postponed until tomorrow.
happy dance
I got to sleep in today. On ly 14 more days of rioting.
Glad you and KT get some extra time, taxi.
Rebo, don’t say that. My new Maytag dryer is self destructing after one load.:dubious:
: gropesPieonherwaythrough :
gt, beebs is posting on Fathom, so he’s not dead or jail.
Mama Tig - glad to hear that about your sister. I think it’s sad and weird to get dropped by all your friends for having a disease. I mean, unless it’s some disease that makes you randomly hold people down and do the “I’m spitting on you, no I’m slurping it back up” thing. Maybe then I’d back off a friendship. But seriously.
**taxi **- I am glad you got a cushion but hate that you have to go through it anyway.
**tarragon **- yes, that does seem high! for $200 you might want to check cheap airfare.
**Pie **- good luck
**swampy **beat me to the asshat comment.
OK, I have been inspired to open my own photobucket account so I will actually be able to upload pics! I’m very excited to be joining the 21st century. Gimme a break. I got my first DVD player just a couple short years ago.
I am freaking out about school. I am a good student. I just want to be in class. I don’t want to deal with all the paperwork of getting there. I hate this. I am so sick of not working. I mean, I have a parttime job bartending for fun money but I am so tired of doing nothing all day. You would think that it would drive me to organize the house and all that stuff but no. It just makes me lazy. Ugh. I miss having a desk. I miss having an office with pretty glass walls and answering the phone just by saying my name and telling people what do to. I miss going to lunch with people. I miss carrying my Swiss Army messenger bag with SuperImportantPapers. I miss being challenged.
Also - thanks for the link to the molten chocolate babycakes. I am making dessert for the Men’s Association tomorrow night (at the CC where I work the bar) and I am making Pumpkin Gooey Butter Cake but I think I’m going to add this as well. Yes, I am a tip whore…
Good luck, Pie!
We got a voicemail yesterday, announcing that the staffing adjustment was complete - for client-facing professionals. Now they need to look admin and “infrastructure”. The ratios are too low, and since I have a 1:1 relationship, alllll they need to do to raise the ratios is eliminate my position.
So I’m thinking it’s a matter of when, not if, I get laid off. I hope it’s after the holidays, just because looking for work during the holidays is annoying. I don’t have as much in savings as I’d like (I won’t be happy until I have equal to 2 years of expenses saved up), but I’ve been cutting back on expenses like mad for the past couple of months, so I have enough to hold out for a while if the market stays bad.
Sorry to hear that Blue…
(crossing fingers and thinking good thoughts)
Good luck Pie, my sweet!
(no one ever gropes me…)
