An MMP of Elopement

Come sit on my lap, and we’ll talk about the first thing to pop up…

Good luck, Pie!

Hoping for the best, Shadow

Well, if you insist:wink:

Two whole years!

I agree. I was talking to one of KT’s coworkers who goes to my church and he was saying that he’d rather wait longer 'cause every week’s one more paycheck in the bank, which I understand, but the suspense was killing me. KT, not so much. But I’m the worrier, and the not knowing was making it worse. This way we know how much time we have and can do something.

Good luck, Shadow. Hope you can make it through the holidays too!

:::vvvvrrrrrooooommmm!!!:::

Doing a rosie.

:::vvvvrrrrrooooommmm!!!:::

Good luck to you, too, Shadow, on the job front. Here’s hoping they recognize that you’re a good employee and find a place for you somewhere else in the company!

I have also now got a sore throat, so I definitely am not healthy. But I also decided that even though what I really wanted to do was crawl in bed and stay there, my back would be frozen by morning if I did, so I should at least continue to sit at my desk, and while I was here, maybe even try to get a bit of work done. So I pulled out a really short deposition – and to my delight, discovered it was one where the witness does nothing but take the Fifth the whole way through. I love depos where the witness does nothing but take the Fifth! Especially when, in one like this one, they agree that while the witness may only answer by saying, “Fifth Amendment,” I should put in the transcript the whole shebang: “Pursuant to the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution and upon the advice of my attorney, I respectfully decline to answer your question on the ground that such answer might tend to incriminate me.” Macro time, here we come! Not to mention padding pages so more $$ for a lot less work. Which is why I love Fifth Amendment depos so much.

So I will do this, and by then Papa Tigs will be home to take care of the Idiots, so I can crawl in bed after Jeopardy with a clear conscience. And a hopefully forgiving back. It’s been feeling much better the last few days <knocking wood frantically>, so the last thing I want to do is get it mad at me again!

And speaking of backs, I’m surprised your injection procedure wasn’t instantly effective, Gotti. My doc doesn’t use the knockout drugs, which is fine because it’s not really a painful procedure other than a needle stick, and when he starts injecting the cortisone and whatever else is in the lovely mixture, I can actually feel the cool flow down the nerves in my leg of pure, lovely relief. That’s something I’ve really learned, as someone who lives with chronic pain these days – you honestly don’t know how much pain you’re in till it goes away, even if only for a little while. The body is capable of coping with just astonishing levels of pain if it builds up gradually. Of course, drugs never hurt.

Okay, back to “Pursuant to the Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution and upon the advice of my attorney, I respectfully decline to answer your question on the ground that such answer might tend to incriminate me.” Envy me my exciting life!

It’s snowing in Houston! Wow. Not right where I am, but we can expect snow and sleet until 9:00 pm, so the weather guys say, and it looks like it’s moving in towards downtown. The commute home should be interesting! At least mine is short.

Go ahead boys, fight it out. I’ll be here watching…

I meant to reply earlier - try practicing with at least one before the dinner. They’re very hard to get out of the pans/ramekins/baking dishes when they’re done. I haven’t made one yet that didn’t get smooshed a bit by the removal of the baking dish. Which is fine when it’s just for us at home, but you may want to get the technique down before serving them to people that you want tips from! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmmmm… The pain was diminished when I woke up. Not gone. Just a bit less. And that seems to be temporary - today, my back is hurting just as bad as ever, as if I’d only dreamed going to the hospital yesterday. I’ll have to ask DH if he dreamed about driving me there and the really inconvenient parking spot we found - two blocks away and about 100 feet up. (Gotta love San Francisco hills - the sidewalk was actually stair steps!) The follow-up appointment with the doctor in a couple of weeks should be interesting.

My chiropractor was also amazed when I showed him the MRIs and radiology report. Apparently, I should have turned into an inert lump and taken many days off from work because the pain was too bad. But, why am I in this stockpot and why is the water getting warm?

Nah. If Shelli gets her customers smashed first, they won’t even noticed the smashed cakes.

Howdy Y’all! Greetings from stormy, rainy south Jawja. It’s miserable out! Looks like more of the same all night and tomorrow 'cept it’ll be cooler. It was warmish all day today, hence the tboomers.

Dindin was good. Reheated chicken ‘n dumplin’s always taste better to me. I was hopin’ for a spend the night night but alas, no. Poor ol’ y’all know who has to be at work early again tomorrow so he ate and left. Oh well. At least I got to see him for a little bit. The weekend will be here soon, so there’s that. Satiddy night we’re goin’ to friends’ house for dindin and then decorate sugar cookies. We do this every year. Alcohol and little sugar cookie mens and wimmens gettin’ decorated makes for some good times.

Shadow I’ll keep appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for ya.

Rebo you are not allowed to send the snow/sleet over here. Do you hear me young lady! :dubious:

I think tonight will be a melatonin and early bed kinda night.

Later Y’all!

Sorry to hear the news, Shadow. Fingers crossed that it doesn’t come to pass.

Seems like it’s bad job news all 'round today. This afternoon, Boss Lady informed me that her contract hasn’t been extended past Christmas after all. They haven’t decided if she’ll be replaced, either, so I just might end up being a team of one.

…and lucky me, I now get to singlehandedly handle the responsibility of designing user security profiles using documentation that is outdated, inaccurate and/or incomprehensible, mapping those profiles to hundreds of user groups, and creating a process to convert tens of thousands of users over the course of a few months (well, almost… they’ve assigned a PM to [del]nag me about deadlines[/del] help me out).

Also, the director now wants to spend TWO hours lurking over my shoulder and watching me work.

If anyone wants my job, they’re welcome to it.

Been productive today. As soon as I got home, I baked 2 punkin pies. One is for FCD’s work potluck tomorrow, and the other is for us. In a little bit, I’m going to make the brussels sprouts that **FCD **likes so much - also for the potluck.

Next week, my new team at work is having the $10 white elephant exchange. I’m thinking some lucky soul is getting a **FCM **original piece of pottery - with some candy as a bonus. I guess that’s what it’ll take to get rid of all that stuff.

Daughter thinks she’s coming down with something - hope stays away from me - I don’t wanna get sick. Specially since we’re supposed to go to Dope the Halls on Saturday. I think some medicinal ice cream will be a good preventative measure, right?

Well, as much as I would hate to have to eat them myself if they came out bad…
But thanks for the tip!

I got some good news today. It turns out that I had somehow balanced my checkbook incorrectly and had more money than I thought. Like, almost twice what I thought.

Then I got to looking around at some stuff for school and figured out this semester is going to be more like $4K, not the $12K I had thought.

The bad news? I am having serious doubts about my math skills now…

I’m a transitive verb???

I forgot to mention it got to almost 70º today. It’s now raining. Tomorrow’s highs are supposed to be in the 40s.

Weird weather.

Weirdness prevails

Oh, and one other thing I forgot - I’m banded again!

My new wedding band came via UPS - a week earlier than expected. At last, I’m save from being hit on by skeevy guys!

It’s just plain gold, but it fits and it’s shiny and I like it.

I had the flu last week, well still do a little, and it started with a sore throat and back pain. Go to bed, directly to bed, do not pass go, stock up on cold medicines. Best wishes to you.

I got paid for a whopping 6 hours last week, no sick pay or vacation time to use. I am still suffering a sore throat that comes and goes depending on how much I talk, a cough that almost makes me pee my pants and all sort of nasty stuff draining from my nose, down the back of my throat and occasionally trying to escape from my lungs. I hope you don’t get it but if you’re feeling sick just do yourself a favor and stay home in bed. The more you fight it, the more it fights back.

No need; you put me first. End of story

Ooh… wanna!! Last time it snowed in Tel-Aviv was in 1950. I sorta wasn’t around for that one.

Yay for good financial news.

And it definitely looks like you have all of the requisite skills for a Wall St. bigwig… :dubious: Including the ablility to misplace large amounts of money

Well, you seem to be “in transit” a lot, lately…

Won’t stop skeevy guys on the internet who can’t see your fingers!

Just sayin’

**Gotti **-- hope you can get the DRs to find a way to take the pain away after all. It does not sound like a good job was done here!

And more {{{}}} for Rigs, if you’re reading. Just because you need them.

What, Noone, they haven’t bothered have a snow-in’ for those of you born after Noah’s demise? For shame!

The whole team is sickly. The Boy didn’t come to work yesterday, may not come today either. MathGirl’s back is scruud (and she’s allergic to ibuprofen’s family of meds, ugh); NoMarriageGirl has been going to every doctor in the list, including visits to the chiropractor (bad cervicals) of the kind that leave you healthier but wondering whether anybody took that truck’s plates; Heboss’ little girl has given him one of those Extra Strength Baby Colds; I’ve got a cold coming as well… but at least we don’t seem to be getting unemployed, that’s a definite plus the way things are going. We’re even getting a new Boy, only not so much of a Boy: some, uh, networking has brought up the information that he’s in the early thirties. Most of the group is in their 20s and I’m the old maid yelling at everybody to geroff my lawn.

Something I find irritating about the current economic mess is that a lot of it is a matter of confidence. Spain was due for a stop in construction (as my agent told me, “when cabbies talk about investing in brick, it’s time to buy anything but brick”), but there’s been other times that things were tough and people’s reaction was “since I can’t trust the banks or the government, I’ll spend everything I get!” This time it’s more like “since I can’t trust the banks or the government, I’ll stick what I have under a mattress!” And Spanish banks aren’t in bad shape at all, but people hear about problems in, say, the Bank of My Little Pony, 2nd Galaxy To The Right, and only grok “problems in bank.”
