An MMP road trip

I crashed way early last night because I was exhausted but I could *not *fall asleep. I’d even changed the clock in the bedroom to make it seem later than it was. This morning I realized what the problem was - I’d had caffeine at a late lunch. Dammit! So I’m exhausted this morning, too.

If all goes according to plan, we’ll bring the baby’s furniture in today and finish setting up the room. I can manage everything except the changing table/dresser - that sucker is HEAVY! What a difference solid wood makes over particle board… I will take the drawers out first - that should help some.

Apart from that, I shall chill today. Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 45 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 71 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse this afternoon/evenin’. We shall see. Today’s plans are to deheathenate, have a <snerk> Quickie! <snerk> N.O.L., and finish movin’ stuff out of the livin’ and dinin’ rooms. Not too much left as all we have to do with the furniture in both rooms is move it out from the walls. Dinin’ room chairs and the coffee and end tables in the livin’ room will be moved out. The heaviest thing to move will be the coffee table because it’s wood with a glass inlay on top and it is heavy. Round two of da cave makeover commences tomorrow.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Blurf.

Up and working the morning Sudoku puzzles in the Sunday paper. Need to break fast here shortly, but nothing much on the schedule for today.

FCM and swampy: I love to see people working; I could watch it all day…

So what time was that, noon? :stuck_out_tongue:

How much do kidlet’s unders/diapers weigh?
Waiting for b-fast to be delivered (they went out to the bagel sto’, I didn’t want to go).

Smarty-pants, **spidey **- it was after one. :stuck_out_tongue: I pretty much need to avoid caffeine after noon.

We’ve breakfasted and the dresser is in the baby’s room. I’m about to clean it and rub it down with some Olde English polish, then set it in position. My original plan won’t work well - the room is just so small! Anyway, all the crib parts are in the garage, and I’ll move them into the kitchen to be scrubbed and oiled. Then they’ll go into the baby’s room to be assembled. Time to get to it! ONWARD!!

OMG - the back panel of the crib was DISGUSTING!!!

There were drip lines down the slats and legs of what I believe to be formula or milk, and several brown blotches that I hope were chocolate or strained liver. I was expecting crud from something that was stored in the basement, not food debris from a now 2-y/o child! I had to go over the whole thing twice - I’d have been embarrassed to offer something in that condition for sale.

Had to take a break before attacking the other 3 pieces - that mess wore me out!

Damned grandbaby better appreciate all my hard work!! :stuck_out_tongue:

And the other 3 pieces of the crib were as gross as the first. But they’re all clean now, and partially assembled. Gotta run to the hardware store for a couple of bolts, then I can finish putting it all together. The room has suddenly gotten really small!! And once my daughter puts her glider in there, that’ll pretty much be it.

Turns out my dogs got me up, the furry [del]bas[/del] darlings. The invisible mole people were out, because they also did the neighborhood the favor of chasing something out towards the lake in full guard dog mode, barking at the top of their lungs.

Today is grey (yay!), and we are having a nice family day (I hope). The kids get to clean their rooms, laundry shall be done, and we’ll try to work in some family game time. We got Spirit Island, and haven’t tried it. We also just got the kids Magic the Gathering starter sets, so we may try that. So many options.

On the never-ending roster of possible moves for the Daze family, we are discussing wintering in Hawai’i. The kids are getting terrible migraines too, and the winter weather really kicks them into high gear. We’ve been researching places in the US where we could go that have the least barometric variability and Hawai’i wins. The high level thinking is we’d try it next winter by renting a place, to see if the idea worked. If it did, we’d buy something small, and hopefully rent it out when we aren’t around.

Happy Sunday!

Which island? We like the big island, but that’s probably just because that’s the only one we’ve been to. (We don’t like crowds). We always went to Kilua (spelling varies) Bay, a little bit south of Kona. Someday we’ll get back there. Someday.

Ruble, Do you have Terror of Tiny Town? It’s not classic horror, but it is horrible.

TheGirlChild and Number3Granddaughter are here and have gone out to the studio with Wifey to paint and stuff, so I’m once again left to my own devices. The dogs, well, mostly Dorky the Yorkie, want to go out there to be with them, and they’ll pester me until I open the door and let them out. After a few minutes one of the wimmenfolk will open the door and shoo them back into the house. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Maybe I should go take a shower. :dubious:

Evenin’ all.

Remember the exciting drain blockage I had last weekend? The one I was all happy I’d sorted? Well, someone came round and knocked on the door earlier; he’s the landlord of the flat below. Apparently the flat below now has a large spreading damp patch on their ceiling, and all the electrics keep tripping.

I have… a sneaking suspicion there may be a connection between these two apparently unrelated occurrences. I may have disturbed something what Ought Not To Have Been Disturbed.

Eep.

I’m old enough to still feel odd when I go into a liquor store on Sunday. The law changed though so now we can get wine and spirits seven days a week. I bought some beer, a brew I hadn’t had before a tasting a couple weeks ago. It’s from an outfit called the Kona Brewing Company and this particular libation is called Longboard. Not bad at all. Guinness is still by overall favorite, but once in a while one needs to change things up.

I plan on just chilling this afternoon, and starting an over all spring cleaning tomorrow.

The crib will not be finished today. We went to the hardware store, but it turns out the bolts were metric, not standard, so **FCD **will sort it out tomorrow. And in the meantime, I’m gonna chill.

Meatloaf, carrots, and instant smashed N.O.T.s for supper, cherry pie for dessert. It’s been a productive and exhausting weekend. I think I shall Netflix for a bit.

Happy Sunday!

Woke early, got some stuff done, fell back asleep, got some more stuff done, now I’m irking.

It’s very N.O.S. today, beautiful, but a bit chilly.
I want to do some more trimming of the crepe myrtle, but that is not happening today.
The people across the street are moving, the noisy ones, so I won’t day I’m sorry to see them go. They also had the big assed work trucks that took up more than one parking space, so that should free up some parking out front.

Other than for potatoes, I think Ripple has a cast iron stomach.

We haven’t had blue laws here for decades Baker, but I still feel weird shopping on a Sunday.

Howdy Y’all! Everything is now in place (well, out of place) for round two of da cave makeover. Plus floorin’ has been picked out. ‘Tis rainy out and the rest of the day shall be spent in sloth mode. We both et a big N.O.L. at the <snerk> Quickie! <snerk> so any suppin’ shall be via forage.

Well, maybe this daylight savings time thing is harder than it looks. Laid down for a little nap about noon and slept until 3pm–not exactly what I was planning. Still cloudy but no more rain in the forecast before next weekend. Have to decide if dining out or in is on the agenda for this evening.

Supper was good - I substituted pastaroni for our starch. Yum! Cherry pie later.

This weekend sure has gone by fast - more than can be blamed on losing an hour. Oh well, whacha gonna do?

Had an all-day rehearsal with my band today. Was feeling kind of sad and brain-foggy in the morning, but I got another coffee at lunchtime and it perked me up. Let’s see if I’ll sleep tonight. Maybe the coffee wasn’t the best thing for sleep, but it seemed to be what was needed at the time.

Still rainin’ so I made the executive decision not to haul the biiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can down to the road tonight. I shall do so in the mornin’ as the rain is supposed to go away before I arise. It was a tough decision but I muddled through.

The cherry pie was kinda meh. I need to load the dishwasher, and I’m thinking it’s a good night for early bedtime. Gotta go back to the office to get some rest!

watched the rest of the sled tournament. The Canes won the 1st game, but lost to Space Coast 3-2.:frowning: I came hoime, had lunch ,cleaned the bathroom, and took a three hour nap. Now I’m making poke chops and drinking a 4042

Midget, it was one of those days for me ,too.
