I thought it was fantastic that Washington state passed both the pot and the gay marriage issues, even though I never have smoked pot, nor am I gay. I just think it is time to move past these issues. A friend of my wife posted this on her FB account and I had to admit it made me laugh out loud. Didn’t seem to fit any of the threads in the Elections forum and I thought it was damn funny so this forum seemed better for it.
"It all makes sense now: Gay marriage legalized on the same day as marijuana makes perfect biblical sense.
Leviticus 20:13 “A man who lays with another man should be stoned”.
Our interpretation has been wrong all these years!"
Now that is damn funny no matter which side of the debate you are on in these issues!
I’ve been sitting on my fingers all day in order to avoid being a douchebag spoilsport on Facebook. But here I can do it in a spoilerbox. Don’t click it if you’re in a good mood.:
It doesn’t say that. It would be awesome if it did, but I can’t find any version of the Bible that mentions “stoned” in Leviticus 20:13. Put to death, sure. But it doesn’t mention methodology.
Well that is what I get for not being a bible kind of guy Alas–too bad, would have been good. But makes a good joke nonetheless…and WhyNot you can’t be a douchebag spoilsport if you tried!
Without context, it actually does sound have some unfortunate implications:
Leviticus 4:20 (NIV): “and do with this bull just as he did with the bull for the sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement for the community, and they will be forgiven.”
