I thought we decided we were all going to put our Dopernames in the guild notes, so we could connect the two environments.
No reason not to do both - my guild notes show my Doper name as well as my professions. Although I’m leaning toward dropping enchanting and picking up mining or skinning, since I’m having trouble coming up with money for training. I’m having more fun with the tailoring, though, so I’ll keep that.
Just found this thread. I will create a toon tonight, probably a troll shaman since I have not played that yet. I will use the doper name. I do not play much, so I will not level as fast as some of you, but it will be fun to have something in common and a guild. full of people to play with.
Just wanted to post a note that 4 of us went through Ragefire Chasm yesterday. We finished all the quests, and 3 of us leveled (well one was a pet I think). We cleared it out, but it did take a little longer than I thought it would (and we wiped 3 times:( ). Big thanks go to our lvl 20 Druid, Democritus, who both tanked and healed! And big gratz go to our newbie OomBipBipYah. First instance, and you did great!
After a bit of trouble with the Voidwalker, our Warlock did mass damage too. Well done. (I love VW on VW fighting:) )
As I get a bit higher I’ll run anyone through RFC, but we’re definitely going to need a healer and a tank.
Wailing Caverns are next for me!
That sounds great, Bird. What’s the level range for Ragefire? My shaman is level 10, and with the new “easy-level” system
from the last patch, I should be able to move him up pretty quickly. It’s going to be fun doing a new low-level instance I’ve never run before.
I think it’s something like 14-20, though I can’t check since game sites are blocked here at work. RFC is fun…it’s relatively short, there aren’t TOO many quests inside to keep track of, and the loot’s pretty good for the levels.
I will log in today and create a troll hunter on Cairne. if all goes well, same character name as my dope name.
I like herbs & alchemy (so that I can heal myself when needed)
Got my troll hunter to 10th level and I’m almost ready to get a pet. This is my first time as a troll or a hunter, and I’m inexperienced at grouping. Her name is Missanthrope. She does mining and blacksmithing. I’ll have sharpening stones and weight stones available from time to time. I’ll update the guild notes later, when I’ve figured that out.
We seem to be getting a spate of troll hunters. One of my kids told be I’d be better off with an orc, as they have a ranged damage boost. But so far I’m liking the regen during battle. I can stand back and trade shots with every ranged target I’ve met so far.
Hunters are always overpopulated…they’re the second most popular class. I think rogues or warlocks are first.
May I make a suggestion? A gathering skill that has a minimap tracking component isn’t usually a great idea for a hunter, since you can only have one tracking ability running at a time. Hunters have great class-specific tracking abilities and if you have mining as well, you’re going to have to either not use the hunter tracking abilities or you’ll have to be switching off all the time, which is really annoying. I would suggest overhauling your tradeskills completely. Maybe pick skinning and leatherworking or skinning and enchanting or skinning and tailoring…just so you have two tradeskills that don’t take up a tracking slot.
It’s up to you, though. I just find it really annoying to switch out the tracking abilities all the time. Sometimes the hunter tracking is just too beneficial to not use.
Most of the Azeroth instances were adjusted slightly downward with the EZ leveling change. RFC is now 13-16.
Cool. I’ll be in range with one more quest/grind session.
I had a blast in RFC with our guildies! I’m pleased to report that I’ve worked out my computer’s sound issues, so I now am getting the auditory feedback I need to help keep track of all that’s going on around me. Thanks for your patience, guys. What drove me nuts was a full inventory (petfood taking up one bag) and trying to make snap decisions about lottery gear, with battle all around. But with my first instance under my belt, I’m ready for future ones!
My troll hunter is almost level 18 now, I’m in love with my pet, and thanks to great advice from Verminary, I’ve now tamed another beast to learn his skills and have passed them along to my own pet. For a WOW newbie, hunter rocks! My pet and I are doing some nice damage, and I feel like I can explore new areas with confidence that I won’t get killed too often.
I’m skinning, fishing, and cooking. Fishing’s fantastic! I have herbalism, but so far am in mostly desert areas without much to gather. I’m having way too much fun.
Hey, I’d love to do RFC – I’ve never done it before. The only instance I’ve done is VC with PUG’s and those have never been too successful.
I’m a lvl 17 priest, so I can probably take healing duties if you’re patient with me.
I’ll be on 8:30-10:30 tonight, is that enough time? Is anyone up for it?
I offer the same suggestion to you that I did to Yllaria. A gathering skill that has a minimap tracking component can be cumbersome for a hunter.
Again, as with her, it’s up to you.
So I dumped enough money into the guild bank to pay for a guild crest, so we need to agree on a design. I suggest this design. It’s blue and white like the SDMB and sort of dog themed.
If you don’t like it, you can go here to make your own design.
:dubious: Never before have those words been spoken! Fishings such a grind to level. Of course it pays off in free food.
And at higher levels there are fish that you can sell for a fair amount of money. On one of my other characters on another server, I basically made up the last 60 gold to buy my mount (old system) on Stonescale Eels fished off of the dock east of Gadgetzan.
I am definitely up for this tonight if we get a group together! I’m a 15 Paladin.
I can try tanking if we need, or secondary heal if we get another tank - I did the quest to get rez and am going holy.
Quick question: Any advice for tanking with a Paladin? I’ve mainly played healers in groups as my main is a priest. I know tanks hold aggro, but as of yet, I haven’t seen any spells that gain aggro - maybe just haven’t gotten it yet. grin I’ll have to research this when I get home.
Otherwise I’ll just try swinging my sword aggressively and shouting obnoxious and ribald lyrics at our opponents!
My main is a Prot Pally, and I can tell you it’s very hard to tank at the lower levels, epsecially multiple mobs. Do you have “consecrate” yet? That helps. Single mobs, you’ll probably be fine if you have good armor (including a shield) and a decent 1-handed weapon. Just keep using your seals (I like Crusader) to add holy damage, and judge them when they are about to expire.
Tanking as a Pally gets a lot easier in your mid-30s — or so I’m told, my main is only 27 right now and I’ve been ignoring him to level up my priest for this group.
Ah - thank you for the advice.
I don’t believe I have ‘consecrate’ yet - doing searches I think get it at level 20 unless I’m wrong.
Will do with the seals and judgement - I always like to have something up either buffing me or hurting them.
But then I’m coming at the Paladin from a casters perspective so my fingers get twitchy if I’m not spelling something at them.
