And Here We Have A New MMP

Hugs and condolences to mmm and family. Also to gt and fabf.

We have snow, about 6 inches, with more in the forecast through Thursday. Since I have no need to leave the house, I am able to enjoy it. The pomeranians are hilarious out there, I’ll try to get some photos in a bit.

Other than that, ** rosie’s sig to all**, ttfn!

Well that could have gone better.
I learned some interesting things today.

  1. Green and Lime green are not the same thing when parking lot colors is the subject.

  2. T, T, T, and T are not the same thing.

(lime green T is a mix of resident and faculty parking. Dark green T is commuter. I found out after I parked there. Luckily I didn’t get a ticket.

  1. 1989 Jeep headlights are not the same animal as 2008 Hyundai headlights. In other words - they don’t turn themselves off.

  2. Cold snowy and rainy days are very busy for AAA, which means long waits.

  3. When the AAA guy bursts out laughing when he looks at your battery, you know you’re going to be buying a new battery.

  4. Bank of America is delusional.

  5. Even after successfully making the drive three times, it’s still possible to get lost on your way home from school.

I am cold, sad, tired, and annoyed. I missed chemistry because I was waiting for the AAA guy (nearly 90 minute wait and then another 30 to test battery, charge it, and wait til it was ok to drive). I then missed Ancient Greece because the only way I was going to get a new battery was if I cashed a check at BofA and they close before class was due to end.

When I got to BofA, the lady asked if I ever considered opening an account at BofA. I said, “no. My bank is convenient.” She said, “We like to think we make banking convenient for all our customers.” I said, “You open at 9am and close at 4pm and you’re only open on business days.” I’m sorry BofA but I am a TDBank customer. You are NOT convenient when you consider that my bank is open late every day and is also open 7 days a week. I had to skip a friggen class because it ends at 4:45. I could have gone to class, driven the hour from school to my bank in my town and stopped for dinner on the way and would would have STILL been open when I got there. Grumble.

So, I found an Advance Auto Parts because I know they install batteries. I got the one with the 3 year warranty and while it was being put in, I had my first flash of intelligence of the week and bought myself a portable battery charger too. Now I don’t have to wait for AAA next time I leave the damn lights on. Of course, I have to remember to charge it first.
So, I finally made it back to Southbridge, after missing 2 classes and getting lost on my way home. I went to the PO, Bank (my bank - still open at 5!) and the grocery store. I came home with the intention of starting a fire and turning the heat up about 10° to help me finally shake off the cold I’ve been feeling since waiting on AAA.

The oil delivery hasn’t arrived yet. No turning up the heat for me.

to most banks, convenience means being able to look (only look) at your account(s) online, any time you want. I agree TDBank’s hours are much more sensible.

I bought sliced liverwurst with bacon at the store tonight. I’m afraid to open the package cuz I know I’ll eat half of it. On white toast with a little mustard. Yum.

With bacon in the liverwurst?

Bacon does not overcome the innate bleckitude of liverwurst.

Maybe not but spicy mustard and muenster cheese sure do!

I’m so sorry for your loss, ems. :frowning:

Just got home from school and while driving home I had an epiphany and so I came home and did some research. And now I’d like to say:
**
Stupid f*@king medicine!!!** I’ve been taking new meds for the last 10 days or so and in the last week I’ve had nearly constant anxiety. I mean just feeling totally, totally overwhelmed. Guess what one of the side effects of this medicine is?!? :dubious::smack::rolleyes:

Well, back to the drawing board tomorrow, I guess.

Congo, I’m sorry to hear you had such a frustrating first day of school.

My school day started off a little rough, too. I think my plug wires or something are bag (again!) because after heavy rain the van was idling very rough and the check engine light was blinking. So, I came right back home after only getting about 1/4 mile down the road and borrowed my grandparents’ car.

Off to pout and watch a bit of mindless tv…

I killed the MMP!

Question for you all…

An acquaintance of mine that does not know that I am ‘technically’ Jewish (my mom is Jewish, but I was raised Christian) keeps making statements about a specific person in her life that is giving her family a hard time right now. She keeps calling him stuff like ‘that damn bastard jew,’ and such. So, the question is, do I tell her to knock it off or just let it slide?

I do agree, by the way, that this person is quite a jerk and is being unnecessarily mean to her family. Yet, assholes come in all colors, shapes and sizes…

Oh, mmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I’m so sorry. Hugs to the whole family.

Thanks for the hugs everyone. Got to actually talk to FABF today after lunch. They don’t know what happened to her brother; he passed in his sleep. (There are a couple of medical conditions that could have caused it, she thinks.) His wife was overseas (she travels a lot for work) and was coming home today. (She’d been unable to reach him two days in a row and sent someone to see what was going on. :frowning: ) FABF is getting on a plane in the morning to come to the States to be with family for a couple of days. Sigh. He was just shy of 48 and a really fun person to be around.

Sorry about your brother, swampy. I know this brings it back.

Fortunately it was book group night, so there was lots to distract me. We have a very lively, chatty group. It was just what I needed.

shortdrum, what rotten luck! I imagine your instructors will understand, though, and it’s far better than if it had happened on the day of a test, for example. So, we’ll hope the Jeep has it out of its system for the rest of the semester and everything will go smoothly from here on out. As for the bank: my much smaller credit union has better hours than BofA, thankyewverymuch.

I’ve read, but not much else sank in completely. Will hope to get back tomorrow with more.

Hugs.

GT

regardless of your lineage or upbringing, your friend is making a bigoted statement. It should be sufficient for her to call said jerk “that damned bastard” and be done with it.

I’d tell her to knock it off. Technically, she’s insulting your mama which is fightin’ language in some parts. Also, there’s never a need for an ethnic slur, no matter how much of an asshole someone is being.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 60 Amurrkin out which is also the high for the day. The temp is not supposed to drop until tonight though. It rained overnight hence the warmer temp. Also, I have a full blown head cold and major blurf. Irk has to happen no matter what though. Ick!

{{{{{MMMMMMM’s and Mr. MMMMMMM’s and Family}}} Even though she’d been ill for quite a while it’s still tough losin’ your mom.

shortdrum sorry for the sucky day yesterday. Today will be better.

StickyBuns I say she should be called on that. Like Rosie said, one can be called a jerk without the racism thrown in the mix. Also, hope your day is better today.

Now I shall seek more caffiene, feed rumbly tummy, take daytime cold stuff and alas, purtify for irk. BLURF AND ICK

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Blurf. Insomnia sucks.

((((((mmms+family))))))

My deepest sympthat. Glad mr. ems has you, and you him, right now.

Argh. Result of doctor’s appointments is- babies are totally fine. Growing really well (both up almost a pound from last visit!), but I’ve (this will be a big surprise to MMPers who remember my previous pregnancies) had a huge blood pressure jump, so I’m not on bedrest but I’m supposed to take it easy, not exercise, and get a lot of rest.

So we’re hanging on until 35 weeks and calling in the toops. Both MiL have been phoned and both have offered to come in, my mother will talk to the people who offered to help, and we’ll manage.

Right now it’s kind of nice to have an excuse to go lie down, but it will become more annoying as time goes by.

I’m glad the babbies are doing well, Li-Li. That is good news. Not such good news about you having to take it easy, but on the other hand, it’s not unusual with twin pregnancies. Hang tight, accept the help with grace. You’ll be glad of it in the end.

No work for me today. It’s snowmageddon out there. I’m relieved that I don’t have to try to fight to get into work. It’s not my driving skills I’m worried about, it’s those that can’t drive in the snow that worry me.

I’m sitting here with my coffee and hubby is up and playing games and drinking coffee too. He called in to work. The boss there said one driver showed up, but they’re not sending him out. There’s too much chance of an accident occurring with the semis out there today.

We’re going to take the dog walksies later today. Too bad we don’t have a sled; we could hook Polar up and he could pull us! He is, after all, a sled dog!

Howdy from irk! I think I shall live. Maybe. Just hate bein’ all stuffded up!

Glad the twins are doin’ ok LiLi. Like Taters said, accept all the help and take it easy as much as possible. I’m sure you’ll be glad you did after the babies are born.

Have a fun snow day Taters!

Admittedly, it’s easier to enjoy a snow day when I’m not being charged leave for it. I shall make the most of it.

So sorry mmmms. Peace and strength to you and the family now.

Well, 15 years ago today a “Yes” made me one happy feller. I wish you could see where it happened, a beautiful rock outcrop around the bend from where we brand on a Colorado ranch. She was wearing a sleeveless plaid shirt, was sunburned and had a little smude of cow poop on her nose. How could I resist? 15 years and one terrific kid later I’ll forever thank my lucky stars for that day and every one thereafter.

Happy Anniversary**, lieu!**
