And Here We Have A New MMP

Soup is always good, especially on a cold, wintery day, Peedin.

We still have a shit ton of snow and ice on the ground. My husband couldn’t even get out of the driveway with his car, so I told him to take my Expedition. He had already missed two days of work and we need some of his paycheck. Since I have plenty of leave, I called in to work to say I wouldn’t be in.

Anyway, my husband got all the way to work to find that no one was there and the power was out. The power was out in the entire valley. He called the dispatcher and now it appears as if everyone will have to go in tomorrow. He came back home and is now in front of his computer.

There are over 300,000 customers without power, and that’s just one of the power companies.

Ice and snow laden branches and trees are still coming down and are blocking roads. When I was bringing the dogs in from outside, I heard a very large branch break and fall off in the yard behind me. Couldn’t see it because it was still dark, but is sure sounded big.

There was also tree leaning into the power lines on the only street leading into my neighborhood. My husband saw a guy stopped and the guy told my husband that one of the large branches had caught fire and had just gone out before my husband go there. The guy was going to call it in. I’m not at all keen about driving past downed, live wires so I’ll keep my happy butt at home.

God, this has turned out to be such a mess. The ice storm really jacked things up around here. The snow was enough of a headache, but we would have been fine with just that. It was the ice that’s caused numerous problems. One guy was killed as he was backing his ATV out of a shed because a tree came down on him. There are downed trees, branches, power poles and wires everywhere. The utilities have been working around the clock to set things to rights, but there are so many incidents and outages, and it’s overwhelming them. They are more than earning their money these past couple of days.

Our Governor has declared a state of emergency and the county executive for my county has declared an emergency. There are going to be lots of insurance claims for damaged cars too. Car ports crashing down on cars, trees and branches, not to mention the numerous accidents in the last few days.

Also, lots of trees have fallen onto houses. It’s a big mess, I just can’t stress that enough. And now, we’re under flood watch because things are supposed to warm up today.

OMG! Taters, I hope you guys will be ok. I’m glad you have power at least!

I’ve only skimmed because have I mentioned that I’m bizzzzzzzy?

Rosie’s sig to all! Be safe!

I think I’ve officially hit old age.

I was just sitting and eating some lunch (N.O.L.) and reading the Dope on my phone. Suddenly, I was frantically searching, looking around trying to figure out where I’d put… my phone! :smack::stuck_out_tongue:

I do that when I’m talking on the phone!

Sticks, it’s not old age.

I got to class early one time this week and took my ereader in to keep myself entertained in the 15 minutes before class. Stuck it in my bag when class started. Afterwards, I put my bag in the trunk and am pulling out the things I need to take in the house. I put the ereader under my arm, pulled out my non-class clothes, and then couldn’t find my ereader.

So my sister is coming down today. Mom has known for weeks, but didn’t bother to tell me or my dad. She thought she did. She does this all the time.

I now have dental insurance! And I can go to any dentist! I don’t need to, but that’s not the point.

Ouch, Taters, that sounds really messy. I’m glad you’re okay. They’re not actually expecting you to try to get to work through those conditions, are they?
I talked to my doctor’s secretary, and she said that I can get a sort of courtesy call from a Public Nurse, but they won’t do any of the necessary stuff, like weighing and measuring. So, even though I’m not really supposed to leave the house or walk, or lift anything, I have to take the babies out into bloody freezing cold, carrying them, and sit around in the office for probably at least an hour.

I’m not even supposed to go downstairs for a week!

I miss the midwives. I’m sorely tempted to phone them and find out if we can pay them for one visit, or get one day’s worth of care transferred, or something.
On the bright side, I talked to both my MiLs yesterday, and they’ll both come in for a few days over the next couple of weeks, so they can [DEL]be driven screaming mad by their grandchildren[/DEL] enjoy the company of my little angels.

Yikes Taters! Glad you still have power and heat. Or had. Hopefully yours hasn’t gone out yet.

Weather is so weird. Right now it’s 63 Amurrkin here. It rained earlier then the sun came out and now it looks like it might rain some more. I don’t care. I’m in da cave and it’s the weekend. No big plans, so let it rain.

we might get a couple of inches of snow overnight; then again we might not. In any case, it’s suppose to hit 50 on Monday so whatever falls won’t be around for long.

I have discovered beets and I am in love.

Friends, I am here at the hospital with my dad. He was in an accident earlier tonight. They’re going to do a cat scan because apparently he was confused earlier and now he keeps repeating himself every once in awhile.

Please keep him in your thoughts.

Beets are the best.

Good thoughts Sticks.

Our temp is 72 degrees F.

{{{StickyBuns and StickyDad}}} Prayers and good thoughts headed out.

Ok, so I decided I should look at what’s in the closets in the guest room and study. Lo and Behold! Shirts! Lots and lots and lots of shirts. Long and short sleeved dress shirts, long and short sleeved pullover shirts. Long and short sleeved sports shirts. Ummmm… I have no idea when I bought ‘em cause, well, I have not been shirt shoppin’ in a while. I know it’s been over a year. :o OYKW has been all lmao at me over this. However, I was nice. I told him he could have some. I mean, I found a total of 54 brand new shirts. :o and

I’ve been ironin’ dress shirts. I still have a dozen to iron. Then I need to iron sports shirts. It’s an ironin’ fest at da cave tomorrow!

Now I should go buy pants.

Question. Or should that be Question? Is anybody up for Monday? If not I have an idea but it will only work for this comin’ Monday.

Ima go beddybye now.

Nitey Nite Y’all!

swampy wants to kick us off on Monday.
All in favor?

Aye!

all opposed?

::crickets::

Just got home. They are keeping him overnight for observation due to minor bleeding in his brain. If tomorrows cat scan looks ok, he will come home.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 74 and probably rain. I need to finish up ironin’ and then need to make closet room for new shirts, so let it rain. A trip to Goodwill may also be in order. Then again, JDD and partner may show up to, as they put it, “go through the mission barrel”, meanin’ vulture all my old shirts. I have strange friends.

StickyBuns hope everything is ok with your dad. Prayers and good thoughts still headed out from south Jawja.

Rosie I imagine you almost wet yourself in anticipation when you saw you could finally use that link. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now I must have more caffiene and some brekkie for rumbly tummy. Then, to ironin’ I must get.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, off to irk. Got invited to a sex toy party after work. That should be interesting. Canes won last night, and I picked up a Canes hat for my “just friend”:)'s grandson’s 3rd birthday party on Sunday. He’s as hockey obsessed as I am.

{{{{{{Sticky and family}}}}}}

Buttercup (Dean, maybe?). shortdrum, beets are Teh Evil! : hornk smilie :

No, Paula is [del]butter[/del] better, and the pun more recognizable.

Hope your dad is doing better today and can come home, Sticky.

I’ve been avoiding civilization this morning, curled up in bed and randomly surfing.

Should get up and be productive.

Hugs.

GT

I am almost done ironin’. Just a few shirts that are hangin’ in the laundry room in need of an iron. Nevermind they’ve been hangin’ there for two weeks. :stuck_out_tongue:

Also, we had hotdawgs from the infamous Jimmie’s Hot Dogs. Chili, cheese, onions and slaw. The terlet may explode shortly. They were good though!

Now methinks we are in need of a nappy poo. Or maybe sump’n else.
