Andor Season 2

He’s the one in Rogue One who gives Cassian off-the-book instructions to kill Galen Erso instead of extracting him

Seems like a very useful thing to have around.

Having gotten out of the way how great I thought this bunch was, the part I am not as sure I love -

This show was doing great without The Force and destiny. Force Healer and the implication that Bix could feel The Force a bit herself was mild enough and played well for its psychological beats, but I would have enjoyed them managing to keep The Force completely out of this show. I am also a small bit disappointed that they are leading to destiny guiding him as the theme. He was meant to be the messenger, he has a place he is meant to get to, he is collecting along the way what he will need, including a specific droid apparently, his big gift is luck in his mind, and Luthen marveling at how he just happens to be there when he needs him. … It moves him into the Chosen One trope and this was better keeping the magic and wizards part of SW out of it.

But a quibble. It still was great!

Gathering intelligence for the Rebels, as it is likely they had never captured a KX droid before. The general who was barking at him earlier was quite impressed.

I donno, I think it doesn’t hurt to have him encounter someone force-senstive before he teams up with one in the movie.

(Never mind that Andor was one degree of Kevin Bacon away from meeting two Jedi-ish people, when the “other crew” that transported Mon Morhma instead of him flew a ship called Ghost.)

Yeah I’ll have to rewatch the Mon Motha Rebel eps.

The stuff with Bix didn’t really work for me. I am glad they didn’t do the obvious and kill her off but her leaving and her reasons why seemed to come from no where and were only because we know she wasn’t with him in Rogue One. It have the whole thing a Poochie has to go back to his home planet vibe (hopefully she makes the trip unlike Poochie).

Is she in any other episodes than Secret Cargo?

Is there anything in other sources that say what happens to her daughter after her escape? Her husband who cares?

Nevermind. A search answer that.

7-9 fucking ruled, as good as S1 and both seasons are good television, transcending both Star Wars and science fiction/fantasy genres. I’m pumped for the end of the season and probably will immediately watch Rogue 1 afterwards.

What was the significance of the logo on the gun Vel held up and the person who said ‘that’s mine?”

These 3 eps were awesome, and did not expect that for syril
Yeah the Bix thing was sort of out of nowhere .

Also who is the actor for the robot technician ?

It has (at least) one Reddit thread of its own:

So, Lonni placed the ISB agent into Bail’s group. Luthen then gets Andor to spirit Mon Mothma away to Yavin. Is that not what would have happened had Lonni not placed the agent? What does Luthen gain, just gaining back Mon Mothma’s trust?

Maybe Lonni doesn’t get fired or arrested by the ISB for disobeying direct orders to compromise Organa’s extraction team?

A double agent takes orders from both sides. The fact he was a double agent allowed Luthen to know of and respond to the ISB’s preparations.

He did what he was forced to do by his formal command, and then he did what he needed to do to support the Rebellion. I wonder if he may have just outed hinself. The Rebellion’s response to ISB’s moves seemed too on-the-nose to be accidental.

I can see that.

I guess I was assuming Luthen wanted it because I think in a real situation where Lonni gets an order to attempt to capture/kill Mon Mothma, he tries to fail before the agent has a gun pointed at her head from 6 yards. Then you don’t get the amazing escape sequence though.

eta I suppose it may have already been the case that Organa’s teams have been compromised to the extent that infiltrating would be trivial and therefore failing would have immediately raised suspicion.

But Lonni didn’t have anything to do with the order to capture/kill Mothma. It came from the other supervisor, Lagret. It’s not an operation that was planned ahead of time, it happened on the fly because of Mothma’s speech. And the ISB agent didn’t know they were extracting Mothma until that morning - she and the other Organa agent were told that by the bald Organa agent at the 20 minute mark in the episode. That’s why she had to take the risk to call in.

ETA: I don’t think Lonni placed the agent for any specific reason. They were placing ISB agents on lots of Senators, maybe all of them, certainly any that were aligned with Mothma. But because Lonni placed her, Luthen knew about it. Now why didn’t Luthen tell Mothma to tell Organa is a different question - by the time it happened maybe Luthen & Mothma weren’t on speaking terms over the murder of Tay Kolma.

This is fair. Lonni had no reason to think the plant was extraordinarily dangerous to the Rebellion beforehand.

Although, now that I’m thinking about it more, Bail didn’t know the team. What was their supposed relation to him? Rebel supplied fixers?

This might be related to the question I just raised. If this was a floating group of fixers that Bail didn’t know personally, Lonni might not have known they would be assigned to him until very recently. And Luthen keeping it close to himself makes sense. Less exposure for himself and Lonni the less he lets out.

Agree this was the best batch of Season 2 and beyond that Ep 8 on the Ghorman Massacre may well be the best episode in either season and just the best episode on TV I have seen in a while. Just the relentless and brutal unfolding of everything that has been setup in the whole season. So many highlights including the brutal fight between Cassian and Syril and the sheer terror of the security droids.

If they had a higher episode count this would have been great, but probably better that they didn’t dedicate a full third of an arc to this?

Syril dying right as he finds out the guy he has been obsessing over for years does not have a clue who he is was incredible. Also Mon Mothma’s speech was perfect, definite improvement over the version shown on Rebels. Although I guess it breaks continuity.
