Animation Domination 10/2

Simpsons: Superintendent Chalmers tutors Bart who finds an excitement to learn in Teddy Roosevelt

Cleveland Show: A hurricane comes to town…Jr. doesn’t believe in God.

Family Guy: Same hurricane…Brian trips on shrooms and Meg let’s her feelings loose

American Dad: Same hurricane hits…Stan makes horrible decisions

LOVED the Simpsons episode. It was very well written and very well done, I felt like I was watching a “Real” show and not an animated one, even though it wasn’t that particularly funny. One of my favorites in a while.

Hated cleveland show…oh look a MacFarlane show against God…yawn…

FG felt like a “very special” show…not funny at all. I will say this…I give Seth credit for going outside the box on a lot of his shows. This one being an “all in one room” episode. But very weak overall

American Dad was my second fave of the bunch, a lot funnier than FG and Cleve.

The Simpsons ep was great, quite different. The highlight for me was the John K couch intro… Super weird and funny. I just watched it again and between Marge walking to get beer and Homer pouring the beer into his head, I don’t know which is more strange. Chalmers got some overdue face time, too. The Nedna thing was weak.

I don’t watch The Cleveland Show but Family Guy was very unusual. It alternated between Brian’s trip and Meg’s stand. Not particularly funny but still good. Stewie was uncharacteristically sweet when babysitting Brian and sewing his ear back on.

Never knew Chalmers first name was Gary…never knew he was widowed

Brian’s shroom trip was fucked up. Seriously fucked up. For some reason I found the image of Peter roasting over an open fire while (painfully) sing “The Wheels on the Bus” particularly disturbing and hard to get out of my head.

my wtf-out-loud moment was when the ear actually came off. i didn’t like the shrooms trip. i thought it was way over-the-top and basically just one long shock-factor. in my opinion, they should have kept the trip more grounded in reality to go in line with the rest of the episode. also, i think the emotional breakdowns happened kind of fast, but that’s more probably due to the 22 min constraint and that they had to wrap it up into a happy package by the end but i expected more character development instead of lois going from indignant to sobbing mess at the snap of a finger.

That whole segment was one of the most nightmarish pieces of animation I’ve ever seen, and I loved it while being disturbed by it. The rest of the episode was totally forgettable.

Yeah, I loved the trip part as well. Just great. The thing with Meg sounded like the writers telling us “see, that’s why she’s nothing but the family’s butt monkey. Shut up now.” Not especially good, especially since it doesn’t make much sense.

John K’s intro was a little over the top and wierd, but it was cool to see him in action. I thought he and Groenig had a thing against each other, but I have no cite so I can’t make any further speculation on that.

The Simpsons was really good, like jnglmassiv said, it wasn’t super funny but it was also good to see Chalmers get a little more than just yelling at Skinner. I missed anything about Nedna though and I missed last week.
