Another 'Fes up' - I actually like

Have you ever made the hot oil Italian dip called bagna cauda?Equal amounts of olive oil and butter are gently warmed together, then plenty of mince garlic is added and warmed. Then you take a tin of anchovies and throw that in and stir while still gently warming. Proportions can be adjusted but I like lots of anchovy and garlic. You can keep it warm in a fondue pot and dip in chunkd of bread, vegetables like bell pepper and so on. Leftover is kept cool in the frindge and sets up but not hard. I’ll spread that on french bread and toast it in the oven.

90% of these answers are some kind of “oh I confess…” but seem to be things that millions of others also enjoy. Good Scotch? Coffee? White bread? Note, I didnt say every answer.

I could see if someone said they like the smell of other peoples farts or something (GROSS) but it’s like, “ok I must admit, I like unexpected windfalls… but dont tell anyone.”

No, but it sounds amazing. The only way my wife likes them is in puttanesca sauce; when I make it, my dog and I eat one each out of the tin and he loves the oil from the can.

Having been born in the UK and having spent 5.5 years of my childhood in Australia, I actually like Marmite. But it is worse than that, my mother used to send me to school with Vegemite & caper sandwiches. I liked that flavour combination. (Now, I don’t use pickles in potato salad, I use capers.) 55 years later, I still like Marmite on toast (My husband will not enter the room while I eat it. He can’t stand the smell.) It was to die for on crumpets with lots of butter/marg. (When I figure out how to make gluten-free crumpets, it will be miraculous again.) I also like anchovies and anchovy paste on toast. I eat smoked oysters from the can with Stubb’s Sticky Sweet barbeque sauce on them. And if you have not done the calculations, this next one will most likely date me and tell you which country I live in…I like “floral gums”. Most people say they taste like soap. I liked the way that they stuck to my teeth in my early teens and a trip to Woodward’s Department store always meant a trip to the candy counter by the diner area that they had where the floral gums would be.

I am intrigued; I don’t care for chocolate covering on pretzels, caramel sounds like a nifty alternative. I’ll keep you posted.
