Suggest some of you set your roster. Zone Blitz has 2 bye week players pencilled in. Og unfortunately looks like he may be absent - empty WR slot still. Commish is gonna have to handle that. Also, PHW’s QB has a bye week.
Anyone know how to contact Og to pester him about missing out on my smashing of the league? Or for that matter, whoever is behind PHW.
Looks like Og is back, good.
PHW still needs to be managed - his starting QB has a bye week.
I just noticed… there are 4 undefeated teams, and they face off against each other today. That’s an odd coincidence given that the schedule is fixed at the start of the season, I think, right?
Should be some good matches… we’ll finish the week with 2 undefeated teams. Me and Chitwood or Court Jesters.
So, I have Donte Stallworth on my team, the best fantasy WR in the league for the first 2 games, and I had him benched. So, the Eagles play the mighty 49ers, and McNabb throws for 298 yards and… nothing for Stallworth. A big zero. That’s gonna hurt.
Brian Westbook completely slaughtered me.
I’m now well on my way to a 1 loss season…
(Nelson laugh) HA HA! (Nelson laugh)
I was going to say if you had him benched, it wouldn’t hurt you at all, but then I re-read, and it looks like you had him benched the first two games and started him against me. Don’t worry about it. You should have at least one more shot for revenge against me this year.
You and me both. Although, I predict at least 2 losses for you!
The annoying thing is that the news on him was that he was projected to start.
If I’d been sitting at the computer at 3:30 eastern, I’d have caught the news that he wouldn’t be starting, and would’ve had to have time to start Braylon Edwards instead for 17.60 points, making the game come down to the monday night game.
Whosyourmama also played and got 21.4 points
I blame Neil Rackers for not making 8 50 yard field goals.
Pittsburgh actually let their primary running back score some touchdowns - I got 26.6 out of Willie parker, but I just got crushed by Westbrook’s 34.4.
If Atlanta’s defense does anything decent tonight, I think I’ll end up finishing in 2nd place in points for the week … it’s just that I was matched up against #1.
Congratulations.

Congratulations to Taz for steamrolling everyone, and a big thank you to yahoo for making me his bitch for the week.
Can we make a rule against misusing the multiposition qualifications? I don’t say this just because I’m not benefiting from it - it just seems like an exploit to me if someone uses, for instance, Colston as a TE when he’s clearly playing WR.
I gotta give credit though - Holding Out For Bush has him and is starting him in the WR slot, I appreciate that. So a rule probably isn’t necesary … I was just thinking it’d be good to agree on a rule now before it becomes an issue.
Btw, Zone Blitz/Commisioner didn’t get around to adjusting PHW’s roster this week - Drew Bledsoe with a bye still started on his team. Unfortunately, his team still ended up winning. The shame…
Remarkably, PHW, an absent player, is 2-1 … but with the second lowest overall score in the league. Scheduling adds a lot of luck in the head to head matchup forum.
Er, head to head matchup format.
Well, I can’t make any promises that I’m not going to use Colston at TE this week since Clark is hurt and Shockey’s on a bye.
I can’t say I’m pleased that I only got 3 weeks out of Warner. Maybe it’s time to jump on the Alex Smith bandwagon. Those are some words I’d never thought I’d say.
I blame Tom Coughlin for my loss this week. Benching Burress killed me.
Also, Corey Dillon getting hurt didn’t help.
I think Burress was killing you before he got benched. I have him in another league, so I feel your pain.
The list of things that killed me is long and painful to recollect. First, it was the 2nd straight week of lackluster performance by Tiki Barber, including no Tiki TDs. Second, Galloway has been a disappointment all season and is headed for the bench. He’s got a 3 TD game coming up week 5 - mark my words. Third, after two weeks of Pennington wearing out his WRs, they go quiet. Fourth, my backup TE was non-existent.
Going into week 4, I lose Eli Manning, my top performer, Barber, and Toomer - plus Galloway. I get to choose Leftwich vs. Baltimore or Losman vs. Minnesota, and Reggie Bush is my lead back. I’m against McNabb, who faces the fearsome Houston defense. I’m crying Uncle already.
Well, I can’t stop you, but doesn’t that strike you as exploitative? The reason he’s listed there was because of pre-season confusion by yahoo, and by their rules I guess they can’t change it once it’s set. So it wasn’t really intended that he be used that way - and if you play a player at a position where he’s not actually going to play, that seems to me like you’re exploiting the system.
I disagree. It simply adds to the value of the player. For instance, in the fantasy baseball league on Yahoo, Alfonso Soriano qualifies at both 2B and OF even though he hasn’t played a game at 2B all year. He only played that position last year but I’ve used him at 2B all year because he has more value there. Should I not use him at that position because in real life he’s not playing there?
Colston was given TE eligibility because that’s the position has was drafted at. It’s the position he played at in the previous year. It wasn’t a mix-up. It’s just the way fantasy leagues work.
Position eligibility is a crucial part of any fantasy league and having Colston function as both a WR and a TE is one of the reasons that I jumped on him every league I’m in.
The other is that in every league my receivers are crap.
Did anyone see my star tight end Crumpler “crumple” that catch in the end zone last night? Aarrrggh. :smack:
Essentially, yes. I haven’t done FF that much so maybe you’re not out of line at all by conventional standards. To me, it seems like, while not technically violating any rules, it’s exploiting the system to achieve a dishonest result. Tight ends typically don’t get as many yards as receivers, and so being able to have a receiver start in the TE slot while starting the actual game as a receiver gives an unfair advantage over teams who have to start an actual TE at their TE spot. If I could start Marvin Harrison in my TE slot, I’d rule the league, but I wouldn’t do it even if it was an option to me, because it feels dishonest to me. In poker, we’d call it “angle shooting” - technically within the rules, but for lack of a better word, unsportsman-like.
Right. Yahoo was essentially unsure of where he’d play, so they kinda had to give him eligibility for both. From what I hear, other leagues may end up dropping eligibility once a player changes position, but apparently yahoo doesn’t. So what you’re doing is within the rules - but it strikes me as angle shooting.
Maybe I’m wrong and this is totally normal and accepted practice, I don’t know. But I don’t feel good about it, and I wouldn’t do it if it were my option.
What does everyone else think?
Lost a post yesterday, but I’m with Kid_A on this. It’s a good draft strategy. I don’t feel it exploitative.
PHW changed his trash talk message. Does that mean he’s/you’re back? And who are you?
I’m pretty loaded at WR and QB and half a bunch of half-ass RBs that I never know what to do with. Do I start Deuce? Even though he may only get 12 carries, they tend to be really productive carries… or Kevan Barlow who’s totally inconsistent, or Joseph Addai who’s not even the starter but gets action in a prolific offense…?
For WRs, I can pick 3:
Donte Stallworth vs GB. Here’s a fantasy day waiting to happen - but he’s listed as questionable. It says he practiced friday, though, which usually means he’ll play. If I play him, he’ll sit out. If I don’t play him, he’ll get 400 yards and 6 TDs.
Marvin Harrison @ Jets. How can you not go with him?
T Glenn @ Ten. He’s having a solid year, and with the questions around Owens, he may have a big day against a crappy defense.
B Edwards @ Oak. If he can put up 115 and a TD against the Ravens defense, I certainly don’t want to sit him against the Raiders.
TJ Whosyourmama vs NE. It’s hard to leave him out having scored 2 TDs last week, but I’ve got a row of potential fantasy studs above him.
Marty Booker @ Hou. Due to the competition, he’ll probably have a good day, but I guess I can rule him out considering the others. Still, I’m having a hard time picking 3 out of those first 5.
And a heads up: Og’s cowboys have a bye week player starting in the W/R slot. And also, Alexander is out in the RB slot.
If the commish wants to take on the duty, I’d like to see him replace out/empty/whatever slots saturday night, but is that too much babysitting? I’d just hate to have more people quit the league… (And with PHW apparently back, we’re back to 100% attendance, pending Og)
Also, Tazmanian Devil’s TE has a bye week.
