I’ve been looking on fantasy news sites for news on Stallworth. Something odd is that they seem to mention his monday night start as if it were an inherently negative thing - as if you should always try to start sunday starters before a monday night starter. Why is this?
Because if he doesn’t play, you can’t replace him with another WR. I’ve scratched him in another league for Braylon Edwards because I knew Edwards was going to play and Stallworth is 50/50.
I’d rather play it safe and get points with Edwards than risk Stallworth not playing and getting stuck with him in the lineup.
I should probably just surrender now. Peyton Manning has thrown like… 3 passes all game. I sat Glenn with 2 TDs at the last minute for Whosyourmama, and Barlow isn’t even the primary ball carrier as was reported.
I just lost by…
1.18 points.
Ouch.
Top 4 scoring teams this week:
- Holding Out For Bush 118.48
- Tazmanian Devils 93.12
- Zone Blitz 90.52
- PurpleHelmedWarriors 82.46
Best overall league scores:
1. Tazmanian Devils 4-0-0 404.36
2. Holding Out For Bush 2-2-0 358.60
3. Exploding Pancakes 2-2-0 341.48
4. Zone Blitz 2-2-0 332.42
5. Chitwood's Penance 4-0-0 330.98
6. Court Jesters 2-2-0 316.32
7. Last Place - Kiros 1-3-0 308.46
8. The Gridbirds 1-3-0 304.96
9. The Faceisburgers 2-2-0 296.24
10. PurpleHelmedWarriors 3-1-0 273.34
11. Isotopes 1-3-0 269.36
12. Og's Cowboys 0-4-0 239.80
The head to head matchups produce some interesting results. 5 overall is undefeated, and 10 overall is 3-1, where only one in the top 4 is a winning team.
I know you were being facetious in your post about surrendering, but the fact that you’re third in overall points scored means you’re doing SOMETHING right. Don’t give up the ship yet, Beef. You’ll get your act together soon (just not in our rematch).
I got my ass handed to me this week in both my leagues. None of my playmakers (at least those not on a bye) made a play. Heck, for a few positions, I would have been just as well off leaving in my inactive players.
Today in a public league where I’ve got a team, there was a trade pending today,
T.J. Duckett for Carnell Williams
I did a triple take on it. I can’t think of any reason why someone would still have Duckett on their roster or for that matter, trading for him?
Well, I have Peyton and Harrison as my top 2 picks, so when I woke up (having football games start at 9am eastern on the west coast is so barbaric) and saw that it was the 2nd quarter and peyton manning was like 1 for 4 for 12 yards or something crazy like that, I figured I was in big, big trouble. He turned it around and had a solid day, but not a Peyton day (random oddity, if Peyton manning scores a rushing touchdown, I lose) and then I ended up losing by probably the closest margin in the league so far, 1.18 points.
On the plus side, at least PHW is back and playing now, so I didn’t lose to generic yahoo projection starters.
Dear SenorBeef,
Thank you for being too kind to point out that there’s no way in hell my team should be 3-1.
Sincerely,
OneCentStamp
Owner, PurpleHelmedWarriors
Glad you’re playing again.
Anyway, you’re 2nd in terms of record, and that’s what counts in this league…
Although… you didn’t actually win this week. You see, Peyton Manning actually scored another touchdown, but the NFL secret police, with their media-controlling tie ins, didn’t let anyone watching the game see it. And they used their mass brain washing satellites to make people at the stadium forget that saw it. This is because of the New York favoritism, they wanted to give the Jets a chance.
So, in light of that…

Using the handy dandy trading block, I see Holding Out For Bush wants QBs and WRs.
So, I’m proposing proposing one of two trade deals:
Rex Grossman and Davenport for Fred Taylor and Alex Smith.
Grossman is the #3 QB and he’s putting up elite numbers this year with no end in sight. The only reason I’m willing to trade him away is that Manning is never hurt. Davenport is just a throw in, although the way Pittsburgh uses big backs as goal line runners, he may steal a bunch of TDs from my Willie Parker. Alex Smith gives me a bye week QB.
Grossman and your pick of one of: TJ Whosyourmama, Terry Glenn, Braylon Edwards, or Donte Stallworth for one of either Portis or Maroney.
That benefits us both - you’re loaded at RB, I have the #3 ranked QB sitting on my bench and a group of solid receivers.
If you like either proposal, send me the trade offer and I’ll work with you. Or if you’ve got a counter proposal, let’s discuss.
By the way, I’m pretty inexperienced at fantasy football - do those trades seem fair and reasonable?
That trade is taking forever to go through. It’ll probably come in at 5am or something… hopefully I’ll remember to check in the morning as my players are magically whisked away.
The following players need to adjust their rosters still (bye week players, players that are out, etc)
Last Place - Kiros
Og’s Cowboys
PHW
Isotopes
So, I have 3 Indianapolis starters against Tennesee. Manning, Harrison, Addai. Just hand me the trophy as I rack up 130 points, right?
:smack: :smack: :smack:
FYI, I am definitely still following this league, but my weekly player adjustments generally end up being Sunday morning just because of how things shake out. So no worries about losing another player; I’ll continue to come back and lose by close margins each week as well as I can
Though things are looking good for this week as long as McNair and/or Plummer (whichever I decide to go with) gets positive points tomorrow night. Probably McNair, since he’s less likely to go into negative territory.
Well, unless Holding out for Bush’s defense produces 49 points tonight, the Tazmanian Devils will claim yet ANOTHER victim in their relentless pursuit of the league championship…muhahahahahahaha!!

Week 6…it’s the Rumble in the Jungle, the Thrilla in Manila, the War to Settle the Score…the 5-0 Chitwood’s Penance vs. the 5-0 Tazmanian Devils. Chitwood, after this coming week, you WILL be asking for penance, as you wonder what you did to deserve the ass beating you received from the Devils! Does the thought of facing the most awesome scoring machine in fantasy sports going today keep you awake at night? Try not to sweat TOO much thinking about our upcoming tilt…
My personel decisions haven’t worked out the last few weeks. But they’ve been the right decisions, I think.
Last week I started Moroney v MIA for 3.8 points, and Addai v TEN for 7.7, while McAlister at TAM (who’s been getting like 12 carries a game) gets 19.1, Parker against SD’s #1 Run D gets 14.3, and Maurice Jones-Drew against NYJ gets 17.9.
I thought the IND-TEN game was gonna be an absolute stomp, but between Manning, Harrison, and Addai, I got like 34 points.
My problem with running backs is that I’ve got a bunch of part time starters. McAlister, Addai, and Jones-Drew are gonna have big fantasy days, but since they’re sharing carries, they might end up posting almost nothing. And my main full time starter, Parker, gets yanked at the goal line. I just try to go with the best matchup each week I guess.
My entire starting offense from this week is on bye - everyone, QB, WR, WR, RB, TE, W/R.
Anyone want to trade me a scrub QB this week for something decent? Send proposals. I may have to start V Young because of the depth of our league, and having no one to pick up.
