Another SDMB fantasy football league

Correction: I guess SD was #2 in rushing defense. Still, their front 7 is crazy, and I’d give my left nut for Jamal Williams. If that team wasn’t Schottenheimered, they’d really be going places.

I’m in even worse shape than I thought.

Byes: Manning, Harrison, B Edwards, Mororney, Winslow, Addai, M Jones-Drew.

Injured: Vernon Davis (not technically on my squad, but he was my original backup week TE as well as sleeper), Donte Stallworth, Marty Booker, Kevan Barlow.

Last week, I was very deep and talented at WR, this week, I have to pick a scrub off the FA list just to start. And with our depth, that’s probably gonna be someone’s waterboy.

Teams that have bye/out/whatever players that need to be adjusted:

The Faceisburgers
Og’s Cowboys
PurpleHelmedWarriors

I’m not sure if Og is playing anymore. If you want to go through and select his best ranked starters to give a fair competition this week, I’d be all for it.

Some big scores this week.

Top 4:

Tazmanian Devils 128.46
Zone Blitz 104.98
Isotopes 103.12
Chitwood’s Penance 83.64

Overall scores:

Tazmanian Devils 6-0	622.32
Zone Blitz 4-2	522.96
Chitwood's Penance 5-1	498.46
Exploding Pancakes 3-3	469.70
Holding Out For Bush 2-4	466.86
Court Jesters 3-3	456.16
Last Place - Kiros 3-3	455.04
Holding Out For Bush 2-4	466.86
The Gridbirds 3-3	445.18
The Faceisburgers 3-3	392.14
PurpleHelmedWarriors 3-3	377.58
Og's Cowboys 0-6	323.50

I’m dissapointed in the ‘attendance’ this week - there were 3 people who had starting players with byes. Guys, it literally takes just a minute to at least plug in some players who will be starting that week, even if you don’t want to put thought into it. If you’ve lost interest - then please do it for the benefit of everyone else, as giving away free wins can upset the balance of head to head leagues.

Woops, somehow I transposed what should’ve been Isotopes with a second entry for Gridbirds.

Corrected scores:

Tazmanian Devils 6-0	622.32
Zone Blitz 4-2	522.96
Chitwood's Penance 5-1	498.46
Exploding Pancakes 3-3	469.70
Holding Out For Bush 2-4	466.86
Court Jesters 3-3	456.16
Last Place - Kiros 3-3	455.04
The Gridbirds 3-3	445.18
Isotopes 1-5	445.10
The Faceisburgers 3-3	392.14
PurpleHelmedWarriors 3-3	377.58
Og's Cowboys 0-6	323.50

Isotopes suffered a tough loss this week - scoring 103 but still coming up less than 2 points short. At 1-5 at 445 points, he’s probably had the most unfavorable schedule. Chitwood, at 5-1 with 498 points, has probably had the most favorable.

I manage to lose a week where I have Manning, Harrison, and Addai against TEN, but then I win the week where half or more of my players were on byes. Whee.

Second entry for Holding Out For Bush that is. (Sorry for all the posts) :smack:

And another victory for the Devils. However, this season is FAR from over, so I am not going to be an ass, and declare myself league champ. Too many good teams chasing my ass to do that. Good luck the rest of the season, guys.

I can’t believe I lost. I was down a point with Grossman and Berrian left. I figured it was as sure a thing as you’d find anywhere. Damn it.

It almost worked for me in week 2!

Sorry, Kiros, for handing you Mr. -6.08, but I’m sure he’ll rebound.

Still, that was insane… needing 1 point, having 2 starters… and still losing.

That was Kid_A with the -6.08… I actually came out as the beneficiary on this one, which evened my luck out a little after a couple tough losses with pretty good scores earlier on. I’m at .500, which is about where I think I deserve to be. How much better I can get depends almost entirely on how much better Jake Plummer can get, which is a little scary.

Oh, and I’d like to thank Torry Holt for single-handedly giving me enough points to pick up that upset, putting up his monster week with half of my normal starters on bye. Reggie Wayne has to step it up next week with Holt off, though.

He doesn’t have to. It will be fine if he doesn’t, really.

I think I should point out at this time that this league is absolutely killing me with the one running back/ one flex setup. Well, my inability to pick the right guy, and my inability to skirt that ineptitude by playing another of them and thereby avoiding the issue is killing me, to be specific. I’m leaving monsters on the bench week in and week out, and I know it’s going to get me sooner or later. This week I got 33 out of my QB/RB/RB spots, when my ideal setup would have scored 71. Par for the course. Not that I was going to be beating a Tomlinson 4-TD performance anyway (and not that I couldn’t have gotten reamed even worse given some personnel changes on the other side), but I’m leaving 15-20 point games on the bench with horrifying regularity. No one has ever done a worse job of predicting value on a week to week basis than I have thus far. I think I need some spring-training style split squad action.

Hell of a week, by the way, Taz. I actually wrote up a trash talk response to yours earlier in the week, but I ate it for two reasons – 1. I really didn’t think I was going to win, especially with the matchups, and 2. I was going to mock you for starting Vick (“you found a way to start three tailbacks”) but I didn’t want you to reconsider that choice. You might not be willing to say it, but you’re a lock for that one seed. I guess it’s good for the rest of us that fantasy football playoffs are a total crapshoot.

Way late with my reminders, but on the off chance that they may help, PHW and Faceisburgers need to update their rosters.

Another week, another ass whipping handed out by the Devils. But there’s still half of a season left, and while a major collapse isn’t likely, I’m still not going to do my victory dance just yet. I’m just glad Dennis Green isn’t playing in our league, otherwise I think we’d be hearing the ‘Crown their ass’ speech. Good luck the rest of the season, guys. By the way, my self-depreciation about the season so far isn’t just an act to rub it in, I’m genuinely surprised that no matter WHO I plug in, they seem to have a kick ass week.

You hack.

I mean that in the verb sense. As in you hack… life. In order to rack up your stats.

Top 4 this week:
Tazmanian Devils 154.42
Chitwood’s Penance 117.00
The Gridbirds 98.42
Exploding Pancakes 95.18

Overall:

1. Tazmanian Devils 7-0	777.14	1st	-
2. Chitwood's Penance 6-1	615.46	2nd	-
3. Zone Blitz 4-3	608.04	6th	+3
4. Exploding Pancakes 4-3	564.88 5th	+1
5. The Gridbirds 4-3	543.60	8th	+3
6. Last Place - Kiros 3-4	537.00	7th	+1
7. Court Jesters 4-3	522.22 4th	-3
8. Holding Out For Bush	2-5	515.50	9th	+1
9. Isotopes 1-6 493.18	11th	+2
10. The Faceisburgers 3-4	449.54	6th	-4
11. PurpleHelmedWarriors	3-4	444.62	10th	-1
12. Og's Cowboys 1-6	395.04 3rd	-9

I added 2 stats this week. The fourth column is the person’s drafting slot, and the fifth column is their position in points relative to their drafting position (so me, for example, drafted 5th but in 4th = +1). I thought this might be interesting to see.

I thought it was remarkable that I put up 95 points despite neither of my RBs doing anything at all.

Willie Parker, who played in a 38 (?) point scoring game somehow managed to rack up 2.7 points. Laurence Maroney (3.0), who, I thought after I traded for him in his breakout week, was going to get more than 30 yards.

I have a bunch of part time starter RBs and I always pick the wrong ones. But would you pick Addai v Washington (10.5), Barlow vs Det (10.5) when he’s getting like 10 carries per game, or Jones-Drew (12.8) at Houston who’s clearly the 2nd string guy over Willie Parker and Moroney?

Give me 5 choices for RB, and I’ll manage to pick the 2 lowest scorers.

On the plus side, Peyton almost put up 40 points. Pats self on back for taking him over Edge

This week is the fantasy Manning Vs Manning battle. Peyton is only projected to get 15.84 against Denver. Eli 19.31 against TB. I might consider sitting him, but for whom? Huard, Young, Gradkowski?

OK, I think it’s safe to say I can’t hang my offense on Drew Bledsoe anymore.

brianjedi, trade offer in your box.

You mean you don’t want to trade for the offensive powerhouse Brad Gradkowski from me?!? :stuck_out_tongue:

What’s up with the Carr for S Jackson trade? Smells funky. Top tier RB for a middle-tier QB?

Isotopes, Og, andFaceisburgers have bye week players…

I have no idea who to start this week.
RB is Willie Parker, but for my WR, WR, W/R slots, I can start: TJ Whosyourmama, Braylon Edwards, Maroney, Harrison, McAlister, Addai, Barlow, Stallworth, Jones-Drew.

They’re almost all worthy of consideration.

As of now, I’m leaning towards Maroney, TJ, and Edwards. I don’t like Harrison or McAlisters matchup (Den and Bal), I’d like to see Stallworth healthy for a game before I start him, Barlow is falling out of favor despite getting at least a TD each game for the last few weeks. But I know I’m gonna sit someone who racks up 25 points, and someone I start is going to get 3.

Og and Faceisburgers still haven’t adjusted their roster. It literally takes less than a minute to just plug your best available players in. Come on, guys.
