Carr is having a better fantasy year then Jackson, but with that said there’s more depth at QB.
I can’t agree that he’s having a better year. Not even close. He’s the 9th rated QB, and there are another 9 QBs that have scored within 10 fantasy points as him. So he’s right in the middle of the road with a bunch of other QBs.
For any given relative place, RBs are more valuable than QBs. The best RB is much more valuable than the best QB, and it gets even more pronounced as you go down. The 5th RB is way more valuable than the 5th QB. Etc. So the 7th RB is worth waaaaaaaaay more than the 9th QB.
If this trade had a middle of the road RB thrown in to balance it out, it’d be reasonable. Say, Dillon or Ronnie Brown and Carr for Jackson - that would be a reasonable trade. As it is, way lopsided. There’s been discussion in the league about it and people seem to agree with me about that aspect.
To demonstrate further: If we held the draft again tomorrow, Jackson would go in the top 10. Carr probably would be in the 70-100 range.
Especially after getting benched for Sage Rosenfels.
Yeah, please vote against or retract/void this trade. It’s gotten to be a complete giveaway of a top 10 player. There are plenty of people that have Carr-quality backups, who will probably throw in a decent RB or WR into the deal to make it reasonable if you’re still wanting to trade away Jackson.
I’d like to know what you people suggesting I throw in Ronnie Brown are smoking. Coming into this week, Brown’s outscored Jackson. Dillon, maybe. A receiver? Certainly; I’ve been willing to entertain offers for Moss, Henry or Muhammad for weeks now.
I said this over there, but I’ll say it again here: I’m going to be 4-4 after this week, thanks to LT putting up 42 points today, and barely in the hunt for the 6th playoff seed. At best, I can go to 9-4, which won’t get me a first-round bye in the playoffs, so I’m not going to get a tremendous advantage there.
If I were Tazmanian Devils making this deal at a projected 8-0, there would be no question that it’s breaking the league. At .500, with only an outside shot at being as high as a #3 playoff seed, though, it’s not going to have a huge effect.
As of 8:15 EST, the playoffs would look like this:
Tazmanian Devils and Chitwood are the #1 and #2 with first-round byes, the Pancakes would be #3 and facing me as the #6, and Zone Blitz and Kiros would be the #4-#5 matchup.
I’m not sure if it matters where you are in the standings - getting a top 10 player for free is pretty advantageous for anyone. It might mitigate the damage somewhat, but you’re a probable playoff team in any case. I’m just not at all comfortable with essentially a giveaway of a top 10 player, and I don’t imagine anyone else is.
As I posted in the league forum, I’m not trying to bust your balls here, nor do I think badly of you. I just don’t see this trade as being a two sided, reasonable trade. It strikes me as a big “wtf” giveaway trade, and I’m not comfortable with it.
You’re right, I screwed up on that one. Dillon + Carr for Jackson wouldn’t have struck me as unreasonable, although now that Carr appears to be benched (indefinitely?) that’d be screwy.
Kubiak has already said Carr will be the starter next week.
I’m not opposed to throwing Dillon (or Henry) in, if that will ameliorate the situation, but if I do I don’t want to be contending with 9 other offers for Jackson.
Well, it happened. I’m not happy about it, and I doubt anyone but one person is.
Hi, everyone. Sorry you all feel so strongly about my trade. I made what I perceived as a “urgent need” trade on my part, I recognized at the time it was slanted in the other owner’s favor, and I’m not upset at the result.
Well, you screwed yourself, but I wasn’t particularly concerned about that, as it was your choice. What I was concerned about was the competitive issues stemming from him now essentially having 2 top 10 picks. He’s gone from a middling scorer to a powerhouse instantly, and for almost no cost. I’m thinking of trading Peyton Manning to Chitwood for Drew Bennet. What do you think?
I think you would be better off with Arnaz Battle instead.
Look at it this way, guys: I have no starting QB next week, since Delhomme’s on a bye and Roethlisberger can’t tie his shoes right now.
Dillon and Jacobs are available, as is one of the WR on the trading block. Make an offer.
If you would’ve told the league Steven Jackson was up for grabs, you’d have had offers for top tier QBs (better than Carr) PLUS a replacement RB or a good WR.
Woops - I read that was PHW posting in defense of the trade (as in, he traded due to QB desperation). I got you guys mixed up. Ignore last comment.
Kiros, you have an offer.
If you are looking for QBs, I have Rivers and Losman on my bench. I’m mostly interested in RBs (preferably one who scores - damn Coughlin’s leaving Tiki out of goal line situations). I’ll also entertain WR options.
D_Odds, I made a counter-offer to your original offer.
I really would have liked to stock up on Giants’ players, but that’s an even counter-proposal. Wouldn’t have needed to make a trade if Coughlin would let Tiki get in the end zone now and then.
