Anthony Weiner: douchebag extrordinaire

I wouldn’t count Weiner out just yet. I recall a 60 Minutes interview with Bill & Hillary that revived his first presidential campaign. The scandals broke and The Comeback Kid pulled it off…

Weiner has dug a much, much deeper hole for himself. He’s probably ruined his chances. But voters sometimes surprise us. You just never know.

This is make or break for his political future. If he’s rejected then it’s time to apply somewhere for a regular job.

Clinton had an actual track record of accomplishments he could point to. Weiner really doesn’t have that. He talks a good game - again, shades of John Edwards - but he hasn’t done much for anybody. Also, Clinton didn’t show the whole world pictures of his penis.

Thank goodness Paula Jones didn’t have a smart phone or the Internet.

Yeah, I know Weiner’s chances are slim to none. I just don’t want him being forced out. Let the voters decide. He’s dug his own grave. Let the voters bury him in it.

That’s why he told Al to invent the interwebz.

Just kidding.

If he drops out it’ll be because polls show the voters aren’t interested in him. It’s not like he has some kind of right to run on the Democratic ticket.

BTW, what is at issue in this election apart from Weiner’s weiner? I have heard nothing about the policies or platform he or any other candidate is running on.

There are 9 candidates, noone is going to take this in the primary. There is going to be a run-off and Weiner was supposed to win in a runoff against Quinn because he was second choice for a lot of people while Quinn is viewed as being less appealing beyond her base. Now folks like DiBlasio (who beat Weiner in the Democratic primary for mayor a while back, before losing to Bloomberg) think they are the second choice for a lot of people and only need to get into the run-off.

The polling suggests that with Weiner out of the race, a lot of people who might have come out to vote for Weiner as a second choice will just stay home rather than come out and vote between a group of largely unremarkable candidates.

With all that said, I think Weiner is probably toast even if he could make it to the runoff. And he might lose to a no name Republican which means 20+ years of NYC without Democratic mayor.

I should read up some more on everybody’s policies myself. But the police’s stop and frisk policies come to mind - they’re very controversial. There’s the state of the schools and the city in general. And the rent is… I’m not gonna say it.

Overpriced for what you get?

I’m sick of Weiner. I don’t really care about what he did, I’m just sick of the NYC version of the Beltway obsession of the media.

I was thinking of something pithier. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just so long as it didn’t come from Weiner’s pither.

Damn, it seems like the dick-joke potential of this story will never be exhausted!

(Unlike Weiner’s dick.)

Things are getting uglier and uglier for Weiner, and no, it’s not because someone else saw his penis.

I could see him winning, and hope he does. This is no one’s business. He evidently has a medusa of a wife and went on the internet for a wank. That’s what it’s for.

Because you think he’d do a good job, or just to show those people who think his stupid behavior is a red flag?

Doesn’t sound like the other candidates are any better, and Weiner is taking all the ribbing and trying to move on. That’s commendable.

Wanking off on the internet is a red flag for what? He didn’t bang an intern or hire a prostitute, he sexted and send crotch cams. Welcome to the 21st century.

From that link:

That’s some fine communication - sure speaks of quality personnel and a smooth-running campaign. What could possibly go wrong if this guy becomes mayor?

But he might have a much harder time living down this other thing. Liberals can tolerate a bit of sexual excess, but not such overt disrespect to women.

I don’t think that’s true. What’s the basis for that?

If nothing else, being an impulsive moron who can’t learn from experience. And it recently came out that when he was claiming his Twitter was hacked, he spent tens of thousands on a P.I. to “investigate” the case. That doesn’t inspire much confidence in his management skills. And I will continue to bring this up: you can’t play the “hey, at least he’s being honest about it” card because he was not honest about this. Until last week he’d taken care to suggest he’d stopped doing this when he left Congress, and now we know that was a lie.

On the Today show they were just speculating on when Weiner was going to “pull out”.
