Any Dopers play at PokerStars?....I wanna host a freeroll for SDMB members only

That’s the way it is at PokerTropolis. Aholibah sets them up and has a telephone number when we need intervention getting the weekly game going.

I wasn’t around then, but I understand that there were issues with blind escalations there. Is that not still the case? And, as I said earlier, FullTilt has standalone Mac software. Are there OS issues for you Mac people?

The HP/PR network has implemented actual private tournaments, including escalating blind structures. Tournaments can be set up by any player, include password protection so that only authorized players can join and appear within minutes. We can have anywhere from 2 to 30 players per tournament, with table sizes varying anywhere from 2 to 10 players. We can play hold 'em, Omaha (hi or hi-lo), 5 card draw or 7 card stud (hi or hi-lo), limit, pot limit or no limit. Buy-ins start as low as $5+50.

Full Tilt requires Mac OS 10.3 or later. I for one have OS 10.2.something and can’t justify the expense of upgrading just to play poker. HP has no-download-required software for Macs and PCs and also has dowloadable software for PCs.

Those of us who already have accounts with one of the sites can set up referrals for those who don’t, so we can qualify for referral bonuses (which the existing players and new players split). HP also has pretty decent and frequent deposit bonuses.

Forget this online crappolla. Y’all just come over to my house on Thursday evenings ‘round 9:00. I’ll get [del]the ol’ ball-n-chain[/del] my huggy-bear to put out the chips and dip, if you bring the suds. Bring Visine, ‘cause the smoke from my Cohibas might irritate your eyes.

<<asking permission>>

…hmm, sorry, it didn’t fly with [del]the battle-ax[/del] my sweet angel-cakes. Guess I’ll have to join you online.

BTW, I have obvious tells, so my avatar must be able to wear sunglasses.

I am willing to do a $5+.50 buy-in tourney at HP/PR…who else is interested?

Pick a day and time. Thursdays are out due to the existing game, but I’m open to a $5 game once or twice a month. For me, between 9 pm and 11pm (eastern) work on weekdays.

I’ll play - as long as it’s in the eveing - this isn’t something I can sneak in between spreadsheets at the W place

I should state that generally Thursdays are no good - What do you all think of a Sunday afternoon?

Any evening except Saturday and any weekend afternoons work for me really.

How about Wednesday 9pm eastern?

as long as I remember to set the VCR to tape Veronica Mars, sure.

Sundays and Wednesdays are bad for me. Any other evening is good, as is Saturday afternoon.

I just d/l’ed Full Tilt and got my account “Natures Call” It’s remarkably similar to PokerStars. Are they connected?

The card backs have FTP all over them. Took me a sec to figger out what File Transfer Protocol had to do with anything

I’m available most evenings - preferably after 8:30 EST. Weekends are iffy, but I can usually squeeze something in with a week’s notice.

Any buy-in suits me.

Friday evening at 9pm eastern? Does that work? I want to accomodate all those who are interested.

will work for me 90% of the time

That works for me except this Friday coming up.

As long as we’re talking about the HP network that works for me.

Yes. Hollywood Poker / PokerRoom

I already have a PokerRoom ID and account. I’ll be able to use it for our game, right?

Yep.

I’m willing to set up the tourney since I’ve been playing around with the settings a little already. My HP ID is Otto93 and the tournament would appear as Otto93’s. If someone else wants to set it up that’s fine too. I’m going to suggest:

no limit holdem
ten players to a table
buy-in $5+.50
maximum players 30 (we can start with fewer at our discretion)
minimum players 10
blind level speed normal
payout structure normal
no rebuys
password DOPE

The only thing I’m not 100% sure about is payout structure. We have the choice of winner take all, normal, flat and steep, but the site doesn’t have a single page that lists the different structures. I’m not interested in winner take all. Normal is probably going to be the best choice (10-20 players, top three paid, 21-30 players top four paid) but I have an email into support to get the flat and steep structures.

If the above is OK then I’ll set up the tournament at about 8:30 EST Friday night (unless someone else wants to). Of course those who want to play Wednesday can set one up then as well but I hope y’all can play Friday too!

Sorry, I don’t know about how these networks work. I signed up on Full Tilt. Is that good?

Nature’s Call, you will need to download HP or PR software and deposit money in order to participate. It’s easy and should only take a couple minutes.

I have had a PokerRoom account for several years now but I haven’t used it recently. The site had frequent technical problems during the summer of '04; I hope the situation has improved since that time. My username on PR is JackShidt, which is the same name I have on PokerStars.

There is not yet a final decision on what time to have this tourney. I cannot seem to pick a time that fits everyone’s schedule. Maybe Monday or Tuesday evenings would work.

Otto, please go ahead and set up the tourney and pick a time. Normal payout structure is what I would prefer as well.
