Any interest in a D.C.-area Dopefest?

According to its website (which has already been posted earlier in this thread):

the Brickskeller (note the spelling) does a lot of different meals. Click on the link marked “From the Kitchen”.

I’ve been going to DopeFests for several years now, and I’m still not part of the in-crowd.

Seriously, everyone’s welcome. One sure thing is that with all the diversity at these gatherings, you will find someone to talk to, and things to talk about!

There’s plenty of food available at the Brickskeller, although most of it from the expected pub-food genus. The onion rings, I have to say, are dreadful, but most everything else isn’t bad. (And about a month ago I had a surprisingly great burger there.)

Maybe I should clarify: I wasn’t asking whether the Brickskellar offers dinner, but whether our gathering is going to be a dinner thing. In other words, what time do y’all think you’ll get there? I think I saw “no earlier than 9pm” from ultrafilter earlier in the thread…

As norinew said, everyone’s welcome at these things! It will only be my second one, and the first one was kind of a mini-Fest (just a few folks at a local bar).

You two need to get your stories straight … I love onion rings, so this is very important!

I should be able to make it.

That’s just the time I’m likely to show up. No need to wait for me.

If no one has any objections, shall we plan on starting around 8:00? That gives anyone who wants to eat beforehand time to do so.

I didn’t mean to give the impression that I thought you were trying to dictate what time this shindig could start. I was just trying to get an idea of when everyone else thinks they’ll arrive, and mentioned your “9pm” because it’s the only time I remember seeing so far in the thread.

8pm works for me…

8 is good with me too.

I can’t be there, but just to jump in on this onion ring debate, I say the Brickskeller has some of the worst bar food that DC has to offer. Fried items are generally soggy and too often cold. For some reason, I can’t recall that they even toast the buns with the burgers, and the buffalo burger is generally drier than the salt flats.

The beer selection is, however, fantastic.

Yeah, I’ll probably eat beforehand… I only really care about the awesome beer selection anyway!

Bumpity. I’m still interested, and 8 pm sounds good to me. We can be in the upstairs area, with darts and things. Mmm, darts.

I’m still there, 8:00 pm on the 5th.

I still can’t get a definitive answer out of the hubby. Sigh.

Well that’s good, seeing as how you started this and all…

Well, there’s a chance we may have to postpone our move from the west to east coast by a few weeks, so I might miss it. :frowning: I really hope not, because I am really looking forward to it! I will keep everyone posted.

A bump as we approach the two-week mark … everyone still in?

Only Mostly Dead and I will be there.

As far as I know.

We’re still on the fence about this one.

I would go, except that August 5 I’d planned to go to Charlottesville.
