SO is still asleep. Not a lot on the glass teat. Teh Interwebs are kinda quiet.
I’ve finished about half a pot of French roast, did the dishes, made bacon (I’m hungry, but I haven’t eaten anything today – I need the grease for later), played my guitar a bit… Nothing to do, really, until I start cooking. I thought about posting bawdy christmas carols, but didn’t.
Almost 49º here, wind at 15 gusting to 27 or so, waiting for the rain…
The rain and the wind have arrived, the turkey’s in the oven, spouse in the shower, dog on the couch. Presents are opened, nibbles have been nibbled, and I’m going to make another pot of tea. Actually we should enjoy the quiet, because we are heading to have dinner with family, and there will be lots of people and excited children and we’re bringing the dog, too.
I wonder if I should start the SDMB story contest, if it’s time.
Wait, what? SO? What did I miss??? Is it the roommate???
The cable has hung up a couple of times (though not the Internet side of it). Power here can be a mite tentative when it’s stormy. I have a generator that’s enough to run the TV, cable, modem, computer, etc.; but nowhere near enough to run an oven! I’m also hoping the power doesn’t go out while I’m cooking.
Less bored now. SO is up, and reading the instructions for her present. Mine didn’t come with instructions. I got a Teflon pizza pan, a Lodge cast-iron cornbread mould to make corn-shaped pieces of cornbread, and a box of chocolates.
The meat is out of the fridge, coming up to room temperature before cooking.
I’m bored. I came down with a cold yesterday afternoon. My husband went to Christmas lunch at his cousins’ without me. All my cooking, baking, gift wrapping… here I am playing Lexulous on the couch, alone.
My sister is in England, my brother is in Australia. Neither have managed to log in to Skype when I’m online.
Not yet. My boyfriend’s family just went home and it was a very nice visit. The meal was good and the convection oven was a great help (but like the cornballer as I now have 3 burns on my hands). Now we’re settling in for a night of MST3K and Star Trek Online. I’ll be bored tomorrow now that we have no more cleaning or prep to do and no errands to run.
Congrats on the SO Johnny. Like pretty much everyone else, I was waiting for the announcement.
Yup, bored. Husband is working 3 hours away this week, so I drove out yesterday and we spent what time we could together. Came home this morning after having coffee together so I am just hanging out with the cats. Probably open a bottle of wine and put something on the dvd player in an hour or so and let my ass grow into the couch for the rest of the evening.
Not really. It’s Boxing Day morning, and we’ve all just had breakfast. We’re about to set off for a nice long walk to work off all of yesterday’s food.
As I mentioned in another thread, I used Skype for the first time yesterday. I told my best fiend to send me an email if he wants to yak, and I’ll log on.
Less bored now. The roast is in the oven, about 10 minutes into its high-heat phase. Got the logistics sorted for the other things. Dry dishes have been put away, and the ones that wouldn’t fit in the drying rack earlier (plus the knife, spoon, and cutting board I used for the meat) have been washed.
With the wind up, we might go down to the beach to see how the waves are.
I have to work today. With the holiday they try to get many of the patients here discharged which is great for them but makes my day boring. Add that to me being tired and I know it will be a battle to stay awake until 11pm. I need to find an empty waiting room to watch the Packer game!
My parrot is. She’s been trying to rip pictures off the wall while singing something that sounds like a combination of Jingle Bells and In A Gada da Vida.
Yes. Hubby had to work today. We did Christmas yesterday with his family. I just watched two episodes of Gray’s Anatomy, but now there’s nothing I’m interested in on. I have a thousand things I could (should) be doing, but here I am.
