I am. Stupid album’s been “in development” since 2004, with nothing but snippets and remixes released on their MySpace page.
For those who are wondering, Julien-K is a side project of Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck, the g-synth (er… keytar) player and guitarist from Orgy. They sound pretty much like the first Orgy album, so far, which is fine by me because the other two sucked.
No, no, of course not! I mean Orgy were a terrible one-hit-wonder of a band whose one hit was simply taking a great New Order song and trying to make it sound more pissed-off and macho to totally piss off your mom. They shouldn’t even be remembered, much less be related to anything that anyone looks forward to!
If you like stuff like that, why aren’t you listening to…I don’t know, the Faint, or any number of other significantly better bands?
Blue Monday is their worst song, or at least the worst one on that record. Anyway, I like lots of similar bands- The Faint and the Birthday Massacre, for example.
I’m excited about Death to Analog because it will (supposedly) have the stuff I liked about Orgy (melodic synth-rock) without the stuff I didn’t like.
I liked ‘Technical Difficulties’ off the Transformers soundtrack.
It reminded me of Satellite, by Bosco. I don’t know why, but I have a strange affection for that kind of noise-based sound. Too much… great, forgot the band’s name, they included a modem dialing noise in one of their early tapes, you could actually use it to call them with it… One of their songs was Charlie X.
Ah! Information Society. Too much Information Society at an impressionable age? Or maybe just too much time spent hanging out under cars.
