I was considering going to Scarborough Faire this weekend, anyone want to go with me?
Also, Cheffie’s b-day is Saturday. He might be getting a special present from Mrs. Cheffie but if he doesn’t have anything planned, maybe we could get together and give him grief.
This Saturday? I don’t have anything planned, but I haven’t been feeling well. I may or may not be able to make it. I just depends on if I’m still sick or not.
Whoops - went two weekends ago when the weather was PERFECT (high temp of 70 degrees, partly cloudy…nice.) Can’t afford another trip to the faire - got the Texas Scottish Festival in Arlington weekend after next, gotta save up for that instead (there’s potential for us to spend a lot of money there). You guys have fun, though, and maybe I’ll see you in Arlington. I’ll be the guy in the kilt - can’t miss me…
Ouch. Have I just been uninvited to the dopefest? sniff Fine. I’ll just take my pills and my thermometer and go back to bed. I just called the doc. I probably wouldn’t be able to make it anyway. I feel like crap.
I forgot to wish Troy a Happy Birthday. Happy Birthday, honey! I hope it’s a wonderful day.
Hey, Zyada…
I was only kidding about being uninvited. If I was really upset, I would’ve come by your house, and given you big, wet, cootie filled kisses, and made you miss the Faire too. heheh I’m evil that way.
In my tiny cube, it was difficult to restrain my whoop of joy at finding Dopers in my new area. In fact, Foat Wuth, and I’m thinkin that I’ll have to change my (ntended) location from “Belly of The Beast” to something like: “Fort Worth, near HEB… but REALLY close to the River Bottom Social Club.” Having been deposited here from San Jose CA, it has been quite a change.
I went to Scarborough Faire and enjoyed it despite my wretched One Hour Honey Mead and No Coffee hangover. It bears an eerie resemblance to the MN Ren Fest, which pleased me. This is my third post, and of no real importance, but I HAD to say something, regardless how inane.
Well… actually, no. I have already been, however, I do appreciate the invite. I also appreciate the kind welcome, sire, into both realms. This SDMB is a trip!
You’ve moved to the right city, Ablaze. The DFW Dopers probably get together more than any other group on the board. Or maybe it just seems that way? If you don’t make this one, you can make the next one. I’m sure that one is coming around soon enough.
The DFW Dopers have a page set up here where we update the local gatherings. You’ll have to check it out from time to time to see if we’re getting together. We’d love to have you. And I mean that in the most innocent way. We don’t take advantage of newbies until the 3rd gathering. I guess we’ll be having our way with Scott soon.
Damn, guys- I just went LAST weekend. I’ve still got the blisters from my new boots to prove it.
But NOOOO, you’ve got to go the LAST weekend!
We’ll have to do a Dopefest at TRF this year. You know, the Texas Renaissance Festival, where it’s generally NOT 3 million degrees, like it is at Scarborough.
Well, I’ve already been to the Scarborough Faire - had a good time, too, due to fine company. This despite the mud, rain and sweltering heat later in the afternoon.
If y’all get together restaurant-style later Saturday, I might be able to make it. Fair warning, however, I have a cold/sniffle/allergy thing going on.
I vote for the Texas Renn Fest, as I like it lots better. We could even gang up on hotel rooms, and avoid the terrible campsite of clay-dust/mud there.
The best possible present you folks could give me is to NOT make me go to the Renaissance Faire. I’m not saying you shouldn’t go this weekend - just leave me to my air-conditioning.
And Mrs. Chef DID give me a special present, and two days early to boot: DVDs of TRON and Xanadu! Who’s going to come over and MST3K 'em with me?
So far, I’m booked for breakfast Saturday and for some unspecified activity with my mom Saturday evening. Sunday’s open, though - how about dinner?
Alternatively, if you all don’t want to try to cram two get-togethers into one weekend, we can always do me next weekend. (Hmmmm, I like the way THAT sounds…) It’s not like I won’t still be 35 for the rest of the year.
