Dallas Dopers again?

Hi. You folks sure are busy.

I just thought I’d point out I’ll probably be in the area again for the holidays. I’m visiting my sister again from the day after christmas till that weekend, maybe even New Years.

So what are the possibilities?

Hey, Irishman.
I’m sure we can get manage something. It doesn’t take much of an occasion for this group get together.

It’d be good seeing you again.

Jim

bumping to page 1

sigh A little bump when nobody is around to see it.

Maybe I’ll post a link in a thread where somebody will notice.

:frowning:

How do y’all feel about New Year’s Eve eve? That’s Saturday night - I don’t think New Year’s Eve will work for me, but the night before would be great (And we avoid the over-priced restaurants that way!)

Anyone out there? Surely y’all all stayed home 'cause of the sleet!

I’ve actually braved the weather to make it into the office. Really, the streets aren’t that bad. Anyhow, I’m a relative newbie, but I think coming out to a dopefest (or just a DFW gathering) would be fun. However, I’m scheduled to be out of town on New Year’s.

I just wanted to introduce myself to the rest of the Dallas dopers and say that I’ll be keeping my eye out for a gathering I can make it to.

Zy, do you mean that you didn’t go in to work today? I put a lot of effort into making into my office on time this morning in spite of the ice and sleet and traffic problems.

I don’t know about the weekend of New Years yet. I have a party to go to one of those days, I’m not sure which though.

Welcome, Tommy the Cat. I’ll put your email address into our automated notification system.

Jim

That isn’t a bad idea. Any other takers?

Um, Jim? Don’t you work at home?

I stayed home, too. I hate my job, and have no inclination to take the slightest extra risk to reach it, especially since the office was officially closed. Only the Swedes showed up, apparently–I suspect they didn’t notice the weather.

As for NYEE (New Years Eve Eve), I’ll have to check my social calendar [sub]as if I have a social life[/sub] but it sounds like a reasonable idea.

Tommy, the law of averages is on your side–if you’re not busy every single weekend, we’ll have a get-together you can make soon. I think we get together more often than any other metro Doper group.

hey I am not in Dallas, but would love to come up and spend some time with the cool dopers again. Hey JimB, keep me informed too, please.

I’m free to get together after Christmas. The good thing about working for a school district is that we get the free winter holidays. I’m off from December 22nd to January 3rd. New Year’s Eve Eve is fine if that’s when we decide to meet or if we want to meet any other time.

NYEE should be okay as long as it’s a dinner-hour thing and not a late-night thing. In fact I can probably park Chef Jr. at Parents’ Survival Night, which would make me available from six to ten pm minus travel time (unless they don’t have it that night… I’ll have to check).

I’m back! Yea! I’ve had the flu all week and havne’t been able to do much of anything. Anyway, sorry, but I can’t make it NYEE, as I already have plans. I’ll keep checking this thread, though, to see if the date changes.

Yea Ag, glad you’re better.

Somebody go round up the Dallas regs and drag them over to this post, okay? I want to get this set up, dammit.

My schedule has me in the area from Dec 27 till Jan 1. Closer to the weekend is better 'cause other family will be in town a couple days. Everyone probably has New Year’s plans, unless maybe we all want to get together and watch 2001: A Space Odessey? Nah.

That sucks Ag! Hope you’re feeling better.

Hey guys! Can y’all tell me what day(s) would be better for you? Maybe we could get together friday night instead.

Bump! anyone?

Chef, can you do Friday evening?
Ag, Balance?

You don’t ask me? Ag, Chef, Balance and you are regulars, but I’m not. You think I don’t have a life so I can make it anytime, is that it? Maybe, you are just subtly not inviting me. Hmmm.

Ok, I can probably make it any day. Do you want me to send out pre-annoucements telling everyone to get in here and make plans?

Jim

Yes, Jim, that would be greatly appreciated.

Come on, we can do this. [meekly]Can’t we?[/meekly]

This ain’t Houston. You don’t have to give these guys 2 months notice. Just say, “How about Celebration, Friday night Dec. 29th, 6:30?” or “How about The Ditch, Saturday night Dec. 30th, 6:30?” and someone will say “let’s go for it” and that’ll be it.

What I usually do is just appoint someone to make a decision like Chef or Zyada.

So now that you know how this group works, don’t worry about it, we’ll come up with something. You probably scared everyone off by giving them so much notice.

I send some emails out and tell them that you’re getting worried.

Oh, and Ag, glad you are feeling better, we missed ya last time.

Jim
