Bah. Michigan’s only loss was on the road to the #1 team in the nation. That loss was not as bad as Florida’s, yet Florida finagled their way into the title game.
I just had to bump this after what’s happened today with Michigan. You’d think they would learned something in the past week about how to play defense.
I can’t wait for an 0-2 Michigan to face an 0-2 Notre Dame next week.
Man, oh man. Oregon is beating the Wolvies like an old rug.
Bwaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahahahahhaa!
And the Buckeyes won again.
Hee hee hee hee.
Ivylass, I received one of those mock-Mastercard ads yesterday about App.St.'s win over Michigan. You know, “Bus fare to Ann Arbor $X, football tickets $Y, earplugs to drown out obnoxious Wolverine fans $Z, beating Michigan at home to open the season…Priceless” type things. It concluded by saying “Congradulations from your friends at Ohio State.” Apparently Ohio State needs to work at its spelling.
Ivylad also heard that OSU students are buying Appalachian State merchandise.
I wonder if they will add Oregon Ducks to that too.
My real concern is will the fact that Michigan can’t beat anyone lower the impressiveness of App beatin’ them?
Meh. Unlike some posters I don’t hate Michigan (at least not any more than any of the members of the nation’s most over-rated conference), but man, that red-ass beatdown by the Waterfowl was a thing of beauty. I mean seriously, a statue of liberty play used as a set up for a fake statue of liberty play? Thing of beauty.
I kinda wish the Wolverines were still ranked #5 when this happened. Then Dennis Dixon might win the Heisman that Joey Harrington was robbed of.*
I almost felt sorry for the anguished fans in “The Big House” that ABC took to showing in their fadeouts. Almost.
There is no D in Wolverines.
*This is smartassery, folks. Please, no angry letters.
You might be the only one, then. Good lord – one of them is guaranteed to start 0-3.
A.K.A. the “Three Strikes And You’re Out!” game, A.K.A. the Turkey Bowl? Expect a few fans to show up with brown paper bags on their heads, is all I’m sayin’.
I don’t have much to celebrate, since my 'Canes took a terrible beating today in Norman, OK. Quarterback U. needs one starting QB they can count on. Oh well, at least Randy Shannon is showing some signs of potential greatness as head coach, which may be easier to recognize as Miami’s offensive unit matures…
It’s too bad the old “Bottom 10” column isn’t around anymore. Then this one could’ve been designated as the “Crummy Game of the Week” (or, more likely, “Crummy Game of the Decade”).
Doesn’t look good for UM next week with Henne getting hurt today. Of course, ND looked pathetic vs PSU. UM-ND should be a real stinkfest. Maybe Michigan won’t be alright this year. This team just phoned it in after the first quarter. On the plus side, the rest of the Big Ten had a pretty decent day. Unless Wisconsin stumbles, it will be a 10-1 day.
Bleh. I was at the game. Dixon isn’t a good quarterback. He was consistently putting the ball behind his receivers. The problem (in addition to starting a freshman at cornerback, which is never a good proposition) is that defeneive line. If they could shut the run down, they would have had a shot at the pass. They did neither, and paid a big price. Oregon, to their credit, had more rushing yards than Michigan had total yards.
Two things to note: one, during player introductions, they introduced Lloyd Carr (the coach), who was greeted with loud, overwhelming boos. Michigan fans know they’re getting hurt by his playcalling, but they’re getting their noses rubbed in it this year.
Two: the Ducks fans are really good, and enthusiastic. I say it as a complete credit to them. Good, loud, relatively insightful, and…damn…there were a lot of them.
I’ve never seen Michigan Stadium like that. If Carr goes, recruiting will be crushed (unless they happen to dig up a studly coach du jour).
After that Oregon game, it looks like Michigan has thrown in the towel on this season. There’s always '08.
They supposedly had a rather strong recruiting class.
There’s always '09.
Outrageous! The blatant jealousy one would expect from a [del]Henne[/del] Mallet fan.
See, we’re not all bad.
I mean, we didn’t torch any buildings or over-turn any cars after our victory, right? (Detroit joke in there somewhere)
I was there too, and I said the same thing to my buddy at one point. Although, to Dixon’s credit, his three deep TDs were perfect passes.
The fake statue of liberty was just embarrassing. They were just toying with the Michigan D at that point. Watching our defense out there was like rooting against the Globetrotters.
I’ve never seen such a hostile crowd at Michigan Stadium before. Granted, I was in the middle of the student section, but they were booing everything that happened, even a punt that sailed into the end zone for a touchback.
Lloyd Carr has been struggling against the spread offense and mobile QBs for many years now. Goes back to at least that Syracuse game when McNabb walked all over us. I can’t remember what year that was. I’ve been ambivalent about Lloyd for several years now, but this is the last straw for me (actually, Appalachian was, but this can count too). He shows no willingness to adapt to modern college offenses. It’s like he thinks the spread is some silly fad that will pass by soon.
Hart guaranteed a victory against the Irish without a starting QB. This could get ugly.
Serious question:
When the freshman QB entered the game, the crowd cheered. Was that meant as encouragment? 'Cause even with things as bad as they seemed, I can’t see the fans actually blaming Chad Henne, much less being happy for his injury.
Au contraire, mon frere. This looks golden for pillowfight of the year. Do they give both teams a 5th place ranking this coming week?
They haven’t won a game since Bo Schembechler passed away.
