I was trying to cook chicken cordon bleau, asparagus and Hollandaise sauce.
My back hurts like hell, and Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) insisted that I sit down and wait for the Tramadol to kick in.
We may go hungry tonight.
Supper was Polish sausage in kraut and tots in the toaster oven. Lots of sausage and kraut left over. The dishwasher is washing away.
Windy like crazy around here, but it’s warm enough inside that the pellet stove turned itself off. I’m still wearing a sweater - I’m a delicate flower and I chill easily. Shut up.
I’ve finished 3 squares and I just started the 4th. This is going to be an interesting afghan. Lately, they all are.
I was able to stop at the car dealer to try to buy the one-time-use “screws” to replace the headlight. They wanted $3-something a piece. When I commented on the high cost (the dealer near me wanted about $1.25 just a few months ago) the service tech asked me if I was going to fix it today (no because of the cold & snow/rain), he wrote down the part # & told me to buy 'em off Amazon & that I could get 25 for less than he was charging for two of 'em.
It sucks when someone is nice to you & helps you out & you can’t repay it by saying something about them to their boss as “Your employee is great; he told me where to get the parts I need cheaper than you sell them for.” might not win him kudos with management.
Our grass is white but the roads are just wet.
Watched the Orange & Black beat the Gold & Black, thereby eliminating the other Gold & Black. The one who caters to canines will understand that sentence.
In other news, my favorite store is gone from the edge of the El Eye Double-Arrgh waiting area; the one that had racks & racks of magazines that were about chest high & the rack in corner was for a more, ummm, mature audience. Any time of day or night, there was a few people in that section & while you couldn’t see what specific magazine they were looking at, you could see them over the tops of the racks. I always liked standing in the next aisle (car & sports mags) & watching the guys believe they were either invisible or there was no one else in the store. It’s now a Duane-Reade…which is really a Walgreens - when’d that happen?
Two soccer games and a long (3 hr) nap is in the books. These games seem to be taking more and more out of me, can’t be because I don’t exercise much and will turn 63 later this month, nope, nope, nope…
Cool, never got much above 55F today, but supposed to hit 70F tomorrow. We’ll see if I can get a wee bit more active.
I have a Plexiglass door from the arena that was used during the 2006 Stanley Cup win.
And remember if you make Eggs Benedict, serve it on a hubcap. Because there’s no plate like chrome for the Hollandaise.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! From da cave even. I am up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 46 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 74 for the day and clear.
Sis is doin’ great right now. She was sittin’ up in a chair and talkin’ yestiddy before I left and has been moved out of critical care. She will go to rehab probably about Tuesday for a few days. This is a next step after dismissal from the horsepistol. With everything lookin’ as good as it’s lookin’, I headed back home yestiddy afternoon and have been pretty much asleep since I got back. Stoopid sinus infection. Yep, I got one. I’m up now cause I’m tahrd of bein’ in bed but will most likely go back again in a little while. No deheathenization this mornin’ for da bear. I am way too fuzzy haided. So that’s the news for now. Again, thanks for all the prayers, thoughts, good wishes and such. Y’all are the bestest.
gotti fantastic news about the drug for DH! Here’s hopin’ for the best.
Everyone else, I kinda read but have not much retained, so yays, boos, hugs, noogies, wedges, smooches, trouts, chitlins, how you doin’s all around.
Now I shall have more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants sustenance. Poor thing hasn’t had any for a while as I did not want to eat at all yestiddy. I shall also do some purtification. I believe a hot shower would be a wonderful thing.
Well, that sucks - every time I try to use Alt+0176 to put in the degree symbol, I get moved to Google. WTF is that? It’s killed the last 2 posts I was trying to make, when I mentioned it’s sunny and 30° (done that time with the character map.) Is that something new in Firefox? If so, I don’t like it. If it opened a new window, that would be tolerable, but to wipe out what I’ve already done - that sucketh!
Whatever. It’s Sunday. I slept till 7:20, having bizarro dreams about the victim of a car accident being left lying in the road, wrapped in bubble wrap… then having to get down on a stairway landing and skootch under a narrow arch in order to get to a bathroom. Interesting way to wake up.
No plans for the day so far. But it’s still early. I may make soup.
metal mouse, I find myself getting a nap in most weekends too. Kinda resets the clock, so to speak.
The art crawl was fun yesterday,. We went to two galleries and the Frist, plus a couple of wine bars.
Today is heathenization. I will be showing up a little early to take the crafts in for the heathen children. Lunch, as usual, is at the brew pub. Just hoping I actually get served this time.
**sari **- you are such a good mommy, sacrificing yourself that way for your child! Kinda wish I lived closer to you - I’d lend you a hand… or a fork.
We had a McBreakfast, and it was more disappointing than one might expect. They no longer do the chicken biscuit for breakfast. I got a steak biscuit, and the biscuit itself was like rock - ick. But, as my classy spouse has been known to say, it’ll make a turd…
I ran into Food Lion for some french bread to go with tonight’s soup and I got a couple of other things while I was there. Now we’re home. **FCD **is cleaning up his shop. His lathe looks like it’s covered in snow - he was machining some plastic yesterday. I’m thinking I’ll stencil the last 10 tea towels I’ve got hemmed, then be done with that craft. Or I could use a full towel instead of a half and charge more. The towels cost a buck each, and halving them means half a buck each, but there’s a lot of labor involved in cutting and hemming. And they sell for $9. I bet I could use the larger towels and get $11 each, or even $10, and I’d still be way ahead. I may do that.
Meanwhile, it’s still chilly out, but no wind and lots of sun. Not a bad day, all things considered.
I slept in till 8:30 this morning and then Fluffy Sam had to sit on me and purr for another fifteen minutes. Really needed that extra sleep.
They redid the desk while I was off last week. Now it’s two pods with very extremely limited storage space. We all hate it. Now they’re going on about protecting guest security. If Corporate cared so much about security, they’d give us our old desk back which was closed off from outsiders so no one could come up behind us and see our computers. But that would make too much sense.
I have a new morning companion. I haven’t come up with a fake name for her yet. She’s a very butch lesbian, a recovering addict, originally from Mayberry, and a complete trip. I like her. The other day she said that after she combined coffee with Red Bull she could “challenge a hummingbird to a flap-off and win.” I laughed for a half-hour over that.
No plans for the day so far. I need to do laundry and clean out the worm bin. The bin will depend on how cold it is out there. I had to turn the heat on last night.
OK, Mumpers who aren’t my FB friends won’t have seen this yet:
**PARTY TIME!!!
**
My January attempt was snowed out, and I thought I’d try it again on April 23, but with the new job, that date snuck up on me too fast. So, Saturday, May 21, assuming it doesn’t snow again, **FCD **and I shall host a gathering.
I’ll smoke some ribs and have the grill going for burgers and dawgs. There’ll be sides, too! No need to bring anything unless you like beverages stronger than soda or lemonade or ice tea. Spouses, SOs, or dates are welcome, but little kids will be bored.
Please let me know by May 14. I will provide detailed directions when you RSVP.
Depending on the response, I may open this to the wider board, but there’s plenty of time and I want to make sure I don’t have too many tacky people hanging around.
