Are game threads prohibited in MPSIMS now?

In [url=http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=279171]this thread**, CajunMan tells Lobsang that he’s deliberately flouting the rules and to not start any more game threads.

From what I can see in the MPSIMS sticky regarding game threads, UncleBill says several times that game threads are not being completely proscribed, but that people should exercise a little discretion in opening bandwidth wasting (yes, this is subjective) threads.

Based on the discussion in the sticky, I don’t see anything wrong with Lobsang’s game thread (except that I think game threads are stupid in general, but I support people’s right to participate in them, provided they’re not against the rules). CajunMan’s admonition in the closed thread seems to imply that they’re banned entirely. So, what’s the deal?

Huh? I specifically mentioned in my OP that the sticky you just linked to does not say that game threads have been banned.

Yes, I referred to that thread in my OP, and the policy from that thread seems to be “Game threads are not banned, just use your discretion”. Based on that, it doesn’t seem as if there was any good reason for CM to close the thread in question.

Yes, we know that. Specifically, that thread states:

If I’m reading this right, then game threads are not banned outright, but the staff has discretion to lock them should they become too numerous or problematic. If I had to guess, without editorializng the content of Cajun Man’s post, I’d say he decided that was one too many active game threads in the forum. Anything more is for another forum.
