I believe it started with an MPSIMS thread called something like “I’m changing my location to ‘Obama County’, who’s with me?”, which strangely the hamsters aren’t finding right now.

Well, the cite was given, so I think I will speak a little to the “wide-spreadedness” of the phenomenon.
I was in Boulder, Colorado for the last two weeks, and if there is a town more didicated to a candidate please let me know! Holy Cow there are a lot of Obama folks out there. I even noticed on the university website where I was there was an entire section on Obama. People are even painting their own Obama logos and digitizing them to put as an avatar. Really cool stuff!

I know you’re not being serious, but I am and I agree with the “childish” part of your statement. And, to a lesser extent, the “Communist” aspect of it, but only insofar as I use “Communism” as a label for things I don’t like.
And why would you care? Obama won’t be in charge of your lot until 20… oops, nearly let the Masterplan out of the bag there. :o
I care because I thought I’d joined a message board full of otherwise intelligent, interesting people- not the Barack Obama Mouseketeer Fanclub.
Well, just in case he becomes the next POTUS, keep a list of people with Obama-related location lines, and bait 'em with it in a few years when he’s second-term, the presidency has become stale, people are jaded, he has fucked something up, and they start a Pit thread about him.
