I think it helps a poll a lot, especially an informal one, if the person who starts it declares what they are trying to figure out, right at the top.

The world has become too infested by snarky or sneaky people who ask simple-sounding “poll” questions as a set up to “prove” something that the poll question as asked, doesn’t apply to.

That’s why I don’t answer them any more. I got really tired of the “AHA! GOTCHA!!!” games that seem to follow ineveitably.

I thought the implication was clear, but I guess not: My question is (only) for those who self-identify as either male or female. If you do not, this is not the poll for you.

Why? He wanted to know if you are male or female, not male, female, other, etc.

If I have a poll asking if you own a cat or a dog do I get chastised for not including every other possible pet in existence? If I have a poll asking if you are bisexual or gay do I get chastised for not including heterosexual?
