I still think they must’ve been placeholders you were supposed to fill in with your own ads.
What I find really weird is that they disappear on my tablet when I rotate the screen one way, but not the other. Is the responsive design actually removing ads based on the screen height?
I had reached the point where new style was borderline-tolerable thanks to Big T’s TamperMonkey thingamabobbie, but the enormous freaking POST REPLY button was still annoying my delicate aesthetic sensibilities. There was nothing I liked better about the new style so I am happily reverted.
This morning I serendipitously clicked into “About this Message Board” and learned that it was possible to go back to the less ugly style, so I am happy once again.
Old. I don’t LOVE it and I would never choose it on other vbulletin sites, but the new one was just an eyesore with no added functionality for me on a laptop. I’m all for change, but improvements over aesthetics. (Like not having all the posts be marked as read after I leave… sigh). Maybe it’s easier and better to manage, but it was not easier and better to read.
For anyone missing the Go To Top button, in Firefox there is an addon called Scroll To Top. A few skins available, a few sizes, changeable transparency, a few other tweaks. I installed it when the latest FF took out half my toolbar buttons. Another gold star moment in frustration. Thanks, mozilla.
I used the New with BigT’s script but switched back to Old as soon as it became available. I despised the floating “up” arrow because every now and then as I was scrolling down my cursor would hit it. Usually if I want to get out of a thread I just hit “Back” but if I answered a poll that doesn’t work so I just got in the habit of scrolling down to the forum jump box. If I was done with the forum I would select the next one I wanted to read. If there were still threads to be read I just hovered over that forum and hit “Go”.
I quoted you, Musicat, because that’s going to save me some time when reading other forums. I tend to have forum threads set at 100 per page and when one has scrolled down to Thread 52 it’s a toss-up whether to scroll down or scroll up to change the sub-forum: hitting “Home” will be a time saver
