ARROWED!: Legolas v. Link

The scene: A generic forest. Link is sent to one side of the forest and told that Legolas is one of Gannon’s warriors. Legolas is sent to the other side and told that Link is working for Sauron. Legolas has a bow, 10 arrows, an elfish blade, and a shield. Link has a bow, 10 arrows, the Master Sword, and a Hylian shield. Who wins?

Note: This is the movie Legolas, so he can surf on shields and all that cool ninja elf stuff. This is the Ocarina of Time Link, so he can have Navi.

I didn’t know Lancelot Link was an archer.

Now, if it’s Legolas vs. Link in a banana-eating contest, I’d go with the latter hands down.

I really don’t care, except that if Legolas gets hurt, Link is DEAD. Nobody hurts my elf!

I can’t really make an informed decision here. “Ocarina of Time” came out after I got over my “Legend of Zelda” obsession.

But what is it about those pointy-eared archers anyway? I used to have such a crush on Link… right after I got over my thing for Raphael (the Ninja Turtle).

I think Navi is the key here. She always flies out and buzzes around whatever she’s currently obsessing about, and Legolas will certainly qualify. She’ll distract him so badly that he won’t spot Link in his sniper position, and…

Legolas: What’s this [untranslatable Elvish expletive] thing buzzing around my head?!
Link: <twang>
Legolas: Aiyee! <thud>

Or maybe that’s just because I play sniper-style too much. In any other scenario, bows are useless, because in Hyrule shields provide perfect protection against them. They’ll run out of arrows, then it’ll go to swords, where Link has the big advantage.

Of course, this being a crossover involving two good guys, they’ll realize they’ve been had before either one dies, and join up to go after Wolfian, the villain who pitted them against each other.

Ah, something I actually know a lot about. Overall, Link is far more adept physically, but Legolas may be able to pull something clever.

I would say that, although Legolas is one fast archer, Link has a slight advantage in speed. He can fire 10 Arrows in about three seconds if you tap the button fast enough. Z-targeting would normally settle the match, but for Legolas’s shield. With Z-targeting enabled, Link always shoots for the enemy’s heart, right where the shield would be. However, Link is able to have his Fairy Bow equipped while his Shield is up, so he can drop armor and fire in a split second. I don’t see Legolas doing that.

One thing, though, Legolas has much better aim. So, say Legolas shoots Link in the head 10 times, and manages to avoid all 10 of Link’s Arrows. Because each Arrow does 1 HP of damage, 10 of them probably won’t be enough to incapacitate Link, if he’s past, say, the Water Temple. Best case scenario, Link can take 40 HP of damage, 200 HP if he has bottled Fairies.

Come to think of it, the fact that Link can use magic is a really big deciding factor. If he can hit Legolas with one Ice Arrow, it’s all over.

Legolas has only two advantages that I can see. First, he can run faster (although Link can teleport). Second, he doesn’t have a silly hat.

You’re all missing the obvious. Legolas never dies. Link dies millions of times. I don’t claim to understand the mechanics of this, but the empirical evidence is quite clear. If one of the two is gonna die, it’s gonna be Link.

The other way of looking at it is that Link has infinite lives.

It’s moot anyway, since most players like their Quest Progress screen to read 000 deaths, so if they die, they just reset without saving. So those don’t count as real deaths.

I would argue that lack of a silly hat should be counted as a disadvantage

Feh. You’re taking all of Link’s advantages and ignoring all his disadvantages. In Legolas’s world, if you die, you stay dead, and you need to appeal to the gods in order to come back (and if your excuse is “I needa kill th’ fucker ‘dat’ killed me!”, I doubt they’ll be sympathetic). Ergo, Link can’t Continue.

No Link has been able to see for more than a couple hundred yards in each direction. Legolas can see way farther than a couple hundred meters. Link’s dead. And as for Link’s sword-fighting prowess… he’s never displayed much skill beyond yer typical hack’n’slash.

If it comes to arrows, I’m thinking Legolas would win here. He seems to be able to just fire arrows without really any effort whatsoever, and is always able to hit a target with waaaay to precise an accurracy. My thoughts: Legolas quickly shoots Link threw the eye, Navi (or some other little fearie) ressurrects him, and he’s then able to peg Lego in the rear.

So, first blood would go to Legolas, but Link would win out in the end.

Curses! S/he’s on the my plan to melt the Triforce and the One ring together to form a power suit of mail. Expect ring-wraiths and dodongoes at your door Balance.

No Wolfian, you just told us. We are now on to your nefarious plot. We shall be bringing Gandalf and Samus in on this as well, now that we know what you’re up to.

I can only understand half of this thread because I don’t know who Link is. But I figure it’s only a matter of time before someone writes a crossover slash fic pairing up Legolas and Link, if it hasn’t been done already.

Is Link cute? Slash is so much more satisfying to read if the two males paired up are hotties.

Decide for yourself. Some people seem to think so.

But one thing to consider, Link is but a scant seventeen years old. He’s not even an Elf, he’s Hylian, a race of people that apparantly merely look like elves.

But I think that all Link had to do to win is cast Naru’s love, making him invincible for a short time, and run close enough to Legolas and cast Din’s Fire.

Aagghh! I’ve tried several times to access that page, but when I click on that link to view the jpg, I couldn’t see it because before the page could even start loading, my browser would instead take me to this one here: http://www.rpgamer.com/index.html

Is there a different URL you can give me that has a picture of Link?

Huh, that’s weird, I can access it just fine. But here’s another page..

And another.

And one last one.

One of those should work.

Thanks, bouv. The first link of these three worked. Yeah, Link is VERY cute!

The second of these three links would not let me view the page. Told me: You are not authorized to view this page.

The third of these three links said “Image Hosted by Tripid” but no image. Oh, well.

That’s “Tripod”, not “Tripid”.

:smack:

I just want to say that Achernar scares the hell out of me.

How long did it take you to write that post??
