See post #6.
The whole show is a spoof of Sheen’s real life of excess.
And the son, that kid is luckiest kid on Earth. Considering Angus delivers all his lines in monotone and is one joke about bodily waste, there isn’t much to do with him.
Cryer of course, is good as is Conchata Ferrell (a great comic actress that should’ve been famous long before this - Think Hot L Baltimore) but those characters are second bananas that need someone to play off of.
No, Ashton is all wrong, he’s just a tad too not smarmy enough. And not…something else…enough. They need to just get rid of Alan’s ex-wife and move Alan and Ryan Styles in together. No additional character, the dynamic is already there, we know them, and it would work. To me, it seemed like Charlie has just been phoning it in for the last year or so anyway. Alan and Berta are the show to me, and also C & A’s mother.
Actually that’s a damn good idea. In fact, they should pay you half a million just for thinking it up considering the savings involved.
I wish they had gone with Ted McGuinley.
I am actually finding myself wanting to start watching 2.5 Men to see what sort of character Kutcher will play. I never did like most of the characters on that show, Charlie least of all.
True, about the monotone, but the kid has good comic timing. His story lines haven’t called for much range, but he absolutely nails sullen, and he can be cheerful and bubbly (like the episode where he was constipated).
He has a special feature on the S1 DVD, showing the set and talking about the show. He’s delightful. I suppose he was 11 or 12 when he did that so maybe he’s changed, but he came off as unspoiled and having a lot of fun.
Now they’ve dumped Ashton Kutcher and hired Sandy Duncan to head the retooled show as CHARLIE’S FAMILY. (Squeaky Fromme has filed suit claiming infringement and mind beam invasion.)
They probably won’t because, let’s face it, there’s a very real chance that Sheen will actually die at some point in the not too distant future. And that would make killing off his character look too morbid.
