I know this is the Pit, but I just want to say that your observation on Jodi’s (unwarranted) comment about engineers was one of the the wriest, most subtle, well written one-liners I’ve ever seen in print.
'Course I’m just an engineer, so WTF would I know about fine examples of articulate prose?
“Last night I dreamt I went to Manderly again.”

Ren’man, I have a hard time bypassing opportunities for subtle digs at attorneys. They and their worthless clients have made my life a living hell for about the last three years. There’s a couple of long stories involved, but I’m not going into either of them here.
There are also a couple of not-so-subtle shots I could have taken, but I’ll just take the high road for the present. (Hint: spelling and punctuation.)
Easy one-step assembly instructions.

UNCA – Allow me to encourage you to continue to take the high road by abjectly apologizing. I shouldn’t have said anything bad about engineers; it was uncalled for and I can only plead that I was caught up in the moment. I do know some engineers who have poor writing skills, just as I’m sure you know some lawyers with poor ethics. Since I wouldn’t appreciate you taking an unwarranted generalized swipe at my profession, I must apologize for doing so to yours.
Wow, what I miss my doing something else with my time.
Well lets clarify some things. First everyone, I apologize for my typing skills and spelling, no doubt not perfect, but only due to my hurried writing, since I am “multitasking”. You are correct in stating I dont have a BS in History, it is as some of you assumed a BA. Please note the proximity of the letters, “a” and “s” on a keyboard, and realize I made a type “o”.
Second, I am not former agent and perhaps I will never be able to disprove that, oh well darn. My use of LOL comes from my use of AOL, as well as I have seen many of you do or have, using ROTFLMAO, and LMAO and other acronyms.
So, you can martyr me in the name of your witch hunt, despite my apology for my error, but honestly, if I wanted to fake credentials, would a BA in History and an AA really be my choice, kinda sad isnt it?
I think you mean he banned the user’s IP address. This is useless if the user is on a dial-up connection with dynamic IP (i.e. it changes). Most of the online population has a dyn-ip. Unless he wanted to ban everyone that uses FormerAgent’s ISP, which I doubt because that would really suck, all the guy has to do is disconnect and reconnect, thereby obtaining a different IP address.
If he banned the whole domain, then the user would have to switch ISP’s to get back on. A new computer would have nothing to do with it.
Having said all that, I’m not passing judgement on you, Mike. I’m not claiming that anyone is anyone. Even if you were him, I’d probably just ignore you, since that seems like the easiest way to get rid of a troll.
If you are telling the truth, then I apologize on behalf of anyone who may have offended you, and I welcome you to the board.
Sorry you had such a rocky start.
Hmmm you know MY real name is Mike and I have a hotmail account. Perhaps I am the formeragent! Ahhhh, perhaps not.
Thanks for the vote of support. So anyways now that I have told you all way more than you deserved to know, and have exposed my personal life to you all, what do I get?
Am I now a member of the club? Can i speak without badgering and flaming?
I just checked the site you posted. That’s a complete wash as far as this subject (er, “object of investigation”) goes. The site lists History as a Minor. Thus, they don’t appear to offer a degree in that as a Major. Thus, the BS is not in a Liberal Art.
I don’t know how many times this needs to be said, Mikey: you’ll be a member of the club when you start engaging in threads the same way everyone else does: making relevent comments are asking relevent questions.
You still haven’t told us what an “AA” degree is.
Never attribute to an -ism anything more easily explained by common, human stupidity.
Associate of Arts, like Associate of Sciences is AS.
2 year degrees, in undergrad work.
I used leftover spare units to get them, in which you only need to take 4 classes in the subject above the 60 unit core requirement.
I will be getting another one soon too, in Psychology.
An AA is an Associate of the Arts degree. It is awarded by 2 year Junior Colleges for completing most of the general education requirements needed for a BA. Think of it as half a BA. I don’t remember mine specifying my major, though.
Mikey? Get over it. You might acheive a bit more positive recognition if you’d do a little proof-reading before posting. As to multi-tasking, so what? I’m doing the same thing, and do it everyday.
Mine specified for AS degrees, Bear, so I assume it would for AA degrees as well. But maybe not. Need to surf that one.
And mikey, please drop the martyr bit. As better people than I have said, repeatedly, quit whining about how badly you’re being treated and either A)leave or B)post something that’ll give people a reason to treat you well. Like, maybe in Great Debates or General Questions. Hell, even MPSIMS. Whatever.
Yup. The Salt Lake Community College (as an example) offers a fair assortment of AA degrees in Humanities and Social Science. What precisely one would do with an AA in History (besides be a substitute teacher) I don’t know. http://www.slcc.edu/schools/hum_sci/degrees.html#hum
Dammit! The whole engineer/lawyer thing passed before I could get in on it! Hmph. Now I’ll just have to go back to making fun of the attorneys at work instead… (And correcting their grammar in documents they give me for technical review – they hate that. )
