Since when do we have obnoxious audible ads? I just got my eardrums blasted by a Mucinex ad. I have never experienced an audible ad on this site before - I thought we didn’t have them. Or, have I just always been lucky to avoid them?

Apparently you missed the memo about Firefox and Adblock Plus, which solves that problem pretty well. Given the recent history of malware and other problems with ads, I see no reason to allow them on my machine.
How come every time there’s a thread about annoying ads, some asshole has to come in and make an annoucment about Firefox as if no one had ever heard of it until just then? People surf the web on computers other than their own, where installing new web browsing programs would be ill-advised.

I really enjoy when you sass me, Czarcasm. It makes me feel pretty and special. Thank you. The issue is 1) using Firefox doesn’t resolve the issue of the SDMB having these kinds of ads. If I’m not mistaken, Mr. Zotti is none too fond of them himself, and is looking into it, and 2) nobody missed the Firefox memo. Do you honestly think the OP has never heard of ad-blocking software? The “solution” isn’t even a solution.
My personal peeve is people that poo-poo other browsers and claim Firefox is such hot shit because it has an adblocker and other browsers don’t. For future reference, that’s just not true.
So the correct answer is, “yes congodwarf you did miss the memo”. 
Thanks for the link srzss05. Since I was planning on reupping my lapsed membership soon anyway, I think I’ll just do it sooner. Unless, that is, I missed the memo about members seeing ads too.

The OP is a Member. I was under the impression that, even without Adblock, members do not see ads except for Google text ads. Isn’t that right?
ETA: I just disabled Adblock and browsed a few SDMB pages. No ads for me.
