Autumn leaves are falling in the MMP

Did laundry, napped. Watching some F1 practice.

Everybody shake their UPS packages.

Went for a longer walk yesterday and wore the old sneakers, which I normally use for the gym. Big mistake and now my feet really hurt. Did some stretching this morning which has improved the situation. I’ll probably do some more this afternoon.

Have to do my German homework today. It’s a beautiful day, but I have to be responsible. I didn’t do any the last two weekends - just not motivated. Probably should at least start it.

Enjoy your Sunday and stay safe.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out and clear(ish) with a predicted high of 82 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Up kinda stoopid early this mornin’, but that is due to goin’ to bed a little after eight last night. I pulled an all nighter! Didn’t wake up cause I had to pee! Also, I could sworn I posted sometime durin’ the afternoon yestiddy, but apparently not. Today’s plans include deheathenization, I have ush duty, so will be around for both services, a trip to the Harvey’s sto’ on the way back to da cave cause they have Poopsie products on sale, afternoon futzin’ around and nappage, and makin’ sup which shall be pot roast with N.O.T., and carrots in the slow cooker, baby lima beans, cornbread, and peach cobbler. Should be enough to keep me outta trouble.

shoe yay for the unemployment dollahs.

Butters I say take it easy, get done what you can, and I agree with others re the offer for the grand daughter to stay. A trial seems like a good move. Hope Buddy Boy is less spooked today.

Hippie glad you’re on the mend. Take it slow and easy and you’ll get there.

{{{Dots}}} sounds like a rough week! Do eat, as that is important and, I’m sure you know, will help give you some energy. Good luck with voc rehab. Hope they can help you out.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, at some point, purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Yesterday was an anomaly - I woke just before 4 today, dammit.

Today’s plans: COOKIES!!! I’m going to make a big batch of oatmeal cookies, half with raisins, half with pecans, plus a batch of molasses cookies. I’ll also rotiss the other turkey and get it packed for the freezer. It’s supposed to rain, so a good day to be inside, warmed by the oven. On the other hand, I have to clean the smoker. ick. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yesterday I found the ribs in the freezer and I put them with 2 bags of pulled poke. Those, along with the turkey, will make for at least 3 meals while we’re in FL. Plus I’ll take 2 loaves of 'nanner bread and all the cookies I can keep away from FCD. And I want to make some pizza dough in the bread machine and take that. There will be so much frozen food, we may not have room for ice!!

Higgs seems to be over whatever was bothering her. I suspect she ate something outside that upset her innards, but by last night, she was back to her old self, so that’s a relief. Tomorrow, she goes to the groomer. I don’t mind bathing her, but I can’t/won’t trim her nails, so they can take care of that, and the other icky stuff.

Tomorrow, I’ll also have Roxy, since SIL picked up an extra shift. It’s supposed to be sunny, but it won’t get out of the 50s - which means the morning will probably be too chilly for a playground outing. We shall see. For now, tho, some chillage before bakeage begins.

Happy Sunday!!

Rainy, chilly day. Should mean good tips, I hope. Left my raincoat at irk yesterday, so it’s conveniently waiting there for me. But I’ll definitely want a hat & scarf under it today. Looks like a “hot soup for lunch” kind of a day.

Kitties are glaring at the wet world from the side door, so we’re all being treated to the dulcet tones of a fox squirrel scolding them for existing.

This made me so happy to read. If you feel like sharing, I promise that your other little improvements won’t bore us, either - any & all news is good news!

I mean, have you read the forum name?

Morning all. :coffee::coffee: Howling winds here since yesterday afternoon so allergies are bad-sneezing and sniffling. Off to spend my traditional Sunday wrangling my 3 yo granddaughter. Basically my reason for living.

I check in to Mumperland frequently during the day, as she allows me my iPad, so behave yourself! Swampy, carry on-we couldn’t stop you if we tried. Mooom, take occasional breaks in accomplishing things so the rest of us can catch our breath.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today, so a day of cleaning and handegg watching. Also, Alex Catt is on The List. Last night she tried to jump into my lap, missed, and clawed my leg. Then she spilled my beer. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Dots, eek, that is a rough week. But good luck on the car and job search. And keep sharing, there’s nothing too mundane for an MMP. {{{{hugs}}}}

Moooommmm!, I have you’re making enough to share. Because you’re nice, dammit.

doggio, sorry to hear about the beer…

BBBoo, of course we’ll behave ourselves…enjoy the day with the little one.

FCM, glad Higgs is feeling better; that’s going to be a pretty full car o’food come this Firday.

Dice, German homework? I thought German was one of the basic languages of Switzerland.

OK, need to finish waking up and turn myself into a responsible human being (or a reasonable facsimile). Will remember to drop off the plastic bags at Wal-Mart on the way to 5 Guys this afternoon. All y’all have a good Sunday.

Happy Sunday! Nothing like waking up to the sound of a cat puking, not only on the freshly laundered sheets, but all over one of the nightstands. At least she missed the clock radio and my slippers.

The furnace continues to work properly, filling Casa Silenus with warmth and making the occupants thereof happy and comfortable. I’ll scream when I see the electric bill next month, but so be it.

Like Moooom today I will be baking cookies and digging out the recipe cards from my mother’s file to see if I can replicate some of her wonders for Christmas. Mom wasn’t that good a cook, but what she excelled at was cookies. Gotta have something to nosh on while locked down over the holidays.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

I don’t want my MIL to have to do a lot of cooking for us, plus I need to empty my freezers a bit, so win-win!

Oatmeal pecan and oatmeal raisin cookies are all baked. The turkey is in the rotisserie. I’m taking a break before doing the molasses cookies. I was thinking about taking a walk, but it’s windy and chilly out there, and I’ve done at least a mile in the kitchen with all the back-and-forthing!

I yanked a ham steak out of the freezer last night - that’s what I’ll build supper around. One less decision for today. But I do have to figure out lunch. Maybe I’ll have FCD take me out, because.

Baking up some cookies to ease the holiday doldrums sounds like a good idea. Y’all let me know what you’re baking and hopefully I’ll be inspired. I used to be a fairly renowned cookie/brownie baker in my day. Before empty nest happened.

Yay on the underemployment bucks shoe!

I’m glad that you’re feeling better than you were dot. Good luck on the car and job search.

I woke up stupid early this morning (4:30 on a weekend!!!). I messed around on the tablet a bit before going back to sleep around seven. It was almost nine when I woke up for good.

I got supper in the crock (chicken tortilla soup, if you must know) and fixed brunch (too late for straight up breakfast, so vegetables got added to make an almost midday meal). The usual Sunday chores are on the agenda today, but not much else except vegetation.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Rough night. I went to bed early but woke up at 11:30 and didn’t get back to sleep until 5: sore throat, crummy tummy. I’m feeling better now on both counts, but I’m going to have to take it easy today.

Dot, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say the reason you’re feeling better is that you weren’t eating or drinking enough before you got sick. The IV’s in the hospital made up for the deficit, both pre- and during stomach bug. I’m no expert–maybe Bostrong texto or someone can chime in–but that’s what it sounds like to me.

Boo, enjoy the time with your little grandorable!

FCM, glad Higgs is doing better. You know, sitting in the car all the way to Florida will be the first rest you’ve had in ages.

Molasses cookies are done! Turkey is done! I’ve packed 10 dozen assorted cookies to take on the trip - my FIL has a serious sweet tooth! Once the turkey cools, I’ll disassemble it into freezer packs. Meanwhile, I’ve got the pizza dough started in the bread machine. And a big pile of dirty dishes in the sink.

We went to Red Robin for lunch - I got a free burger since I’m a Vet and a Red Royalty member. So lunch was under $20, including tip. I’m thinking the ham will be tomorrow’s supper because I don’t think I’ll be all that hungry later today.

nellie - we’re hoping Higgs will be drugged enough that she’ll sleep most of the way. Tho she generally travels well, once we get her settled. She doesn’t like cars. Period. At all. Weird dog…

I suppose I should do dishes…

Washington’s shutting down again starting Wednesday. The lockdown is expected to last four weeks. I told Mrs. L.A., and she said, ‘Does that mean we can’t go to Paso del Norte?’ I said they’d still do take-out. I forgot the main attraction was the margaritas.

If you ended up accidentally making too many of those molasses and oatmeal-raisin cookies, give a yell and I’ll help you dispose of the excess…

I think the only yelling I’ll be doing is at FCD to keep his cotton-pickin’ hands off his dad’s cookies!

Speaking of molasses cookies - it looks identical to a ginger snap recipe I just looked up, which is what I suspected in the first place. Since I used my MIL’s recipe and her people have a tendency to call things by different names, it may well be the case. (For example, they called green bell peppers mangoes!! I guess it’s an Indiana thing.)

OK, back at it…

Went for a walk this morning, since we’ve got a day without downpour. We also dropped off some of our butternut squash for some neighbors. It’s been “curing” in the kitchen since we harvested two weeks ago. The Ms planted seeds that she saved and dried from a store-bought squash from 2019. It did really well; if all of the blossoms had turned into squash, we could have opened a business. As it is, we ended up with eight viable squash, five of which will be cut up and frozen in the coming week or two.

Had the same thought as nellie-the feeling better after hospital IVs and nutrition maybe kept happening by hydrating and noshing yourself bit by bit throughout each day (and skip that dang-dog gone hospital stuff).

Maybe set a goal of 32 ounces to drink (4-6oz at a time, tea, juice water) during the day, with a big glass to start with when you first get up? Think of anything you like to drink, get it into your house by hook, crook or delivery and keep drinking when ever the thought pops into your mind. Staying ahead, or even, is much easier than catching up. I do this-keep a big Tupperware glass of water next to my chair and tipple all day.Swampy may want to jump in here and give his award winning advice on all day tippling.

Later tonight I’ll try to unload my eat-your-self out of the hospital suggestions.

Off to grandorable wrangle.
