Autumn leaves are falling in the MMP

FCM, yeah. That autocorrect is a pain, sometimes!
Glad to hear that Roxy is almost back to normal, again!

Happy 2sday to all. Cloudy outside but 70F with a good chance of rain tonight. Need to do some cleaning and shopping today, also put in a request for a Drs. appointment regarding the ache in my shoulder. Awaiting to see when I’m scheduled.

Butters, I’m not a believer in spirits, but that was a little weird, I have to admit. Hope things get fixed today.

Nona, you don’t get a notice about the taxes there? I get a very polite notice that I’d better be paying up or else…

OK, need to finish waking up and do some house cleaning. All ya’ll take care.

MetalMouse, they send the Spring, and the Fall, installments at the same time. It’s up to us to get them out on time. They don’t send any reminders.

We’re supposed to get rain this afternoon, and through the overnight, as well. I guess it’ll be a crapshoot, as usual, if we get it, or not.

Yeah, it’s hot, but there is an easy way to husk and de-string corn that’s been nuked. Cut off about a half inch or so of the stalk end, then grab the cob by the tassel end and start squeezing the cob out of it’s husk. The husk and silk slide off as one piece. I’m sure there’s a video out there somewhere.

Well, here I am checking into the Monday Morning Post on Tuesday Morning. Ever have a day (or days) when you just don’t want to share any of yourself with anybody? Irk remains irksome, and despite the good news of the weekend, I’ve been a Grumpy Gus the last few days. When I’m in a bad mood, I tend to crawl into my “cave,” as Mrs. W describes it. She’s not wrong, but I wish she’d just let me hide in there for a while instead of trying to coax me out.

Butters, I’m adding my condolences for the loss of your dear hubby. I can barely imagine the hole that’s left in your life right now. All the best to you as you continue on your journey without him.
Like MetalMouse I’m not a believer in the afterlife, but stories like yours make me think twice. Perhaps one day I’ll be pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong!

I hadn’t heard. :frowning:

@Buttercup_Smith

I take it Mr Butter was a jokester?

I’m a devout believer in “signs” like that. We’ve got plenty of stories in our family of our departed nudging is from “The Great Beyond.” I know you’re probably shaking your head at the entire “pain in the butt” aspect of your sign.

But maybe, you also got a little smile as well?

Hold that little smile in your heart.

FINALLY was able to get an appointment set up to title the new car. I had to fill out a form to make it easier when we get there, but doggone was it a pain! Then I goofed and put down that we paid $209K for the car - don’t catch that till I saw the required fee of over $12K!    Bad enough we have to pay around $1500 for taxes and registration. On top of having to get 4 new tires… Yeah, I hate his car. :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, the title should get to us today from the dealer, and we’ve got an appointment on next Weds to get this all done.

Meanwhile, Roxy has been sleeping for 2 hours - YAY! The quiet is loverly!

I am home. I survived the surgery and five days in the hospital. The prognosis is good. I face at least four weeks of convalescence I am very weak and a little groggy from the pain meds, but I am on the mend. Thank you all for your good wishes

FIVE DAYS in the hospital?? Dang - I get antsy after 2 days. I can’t imagine 5… But yay for getting back home. Healing thoughts headed your way!

Afternoon all. Went out and bought myself headphones for my computer, probably only use them 3-4 times a year, but figured it was a good excuse to get out of the house. Then Mickey D’s provided lunch.

Also have a Doctor’s appointment for tomorrow at 2pm (don’t let me forget) to get the pain in my upper shoulder checked…probably nothing, but it’s been around for three weeks and is causing me some sleeping issues.

Hippie! Glad you’re back, and even happier that the prognosis is good. Spend some time with us while you get your strength back.

FCM, yeah, I have to double-check my math these days, too.

Wheelie, I get the grumps now and then, but this place is pretty good at bringing me around.

Got a little rain around noon, light enough that you could walk around the block and not get too damp, but we might get some more later on. Need to meet a couple of parents around 5pm to give their daughters their medals (they couldn’t play in the tournament, but they played with the team all season long so they earned them). Outside of that, a quiet afternoon is contemplated.

Happy Toosday!

Another nice day, a bit chilly at the park when I got there. I was ready to take my coat off by the time we left.

Ziggy

I can’t refinance my mortgage because I don’t owe enough on it. I thought that might be an issue.
There’s a federal law that says the fees charged to obtain a mortgage can’t exceed a certain percent of the mortgage.
However, I did get a rough idea of how much mortgage I can afford if I decide to buy another house.

As far as signs from the other side…
The logical, practical side of me says no way. However, the life experience part of me says it happens, and it’s real. So, it may have been a little dramatic, but I’m glad you got to hear from him, Butters.

So. I’m gearing myself up to dive into the call to the health exchange.
Fortunately Vow, that call was several years ago and I haven’t had to call them since. I’ve been able to handle everything online, PITA that the website is.

No lfb guy again today. He has contracts with some agencies and when they call, he goes. Not a big deal really. It would be nice to take a shower instead of a bath, but it’s something we can live with. Actually we can take showers with the hand held sprayer if we are careful not to get too much water on the walls.

Glad all went well and you are home Hippie!

The Ziggy video helped with Happy Toosday!

That and Hippie being home :grinning::grinning::grinning::grinning:

Man this is shaping into a busy week. Between taking Tango in for his next round of shots, having the furnace guy come trouble-shoot my not-so-hot heater, signing my life away on all the refi documents that the escrow lady is bringing by, teaching my requisite classes, going in for counseling (if Karen is ever in the office!) plus my usual “social butterfly” things I’m hardly going to have time for a breath this week. Good!

Butters, I’m a firm believer in “signs,” having experienced a few myself. Take comfort in the fact that he’s still around and messing with you.

Well the call to the health exchange wasn’t as bad as I expected.
I still don’t know how it is going to irk when my son drops off, but I was told to sign up as though everything is the same. I do have to change my health plan. I got signed up for something similar to what I have this year, but the monthly premiums are $400+ more.
I don’t think so.
They also want to see proof of income, something I have never been asked for before.

I forgot to mention the Siamese cat. One of my park friends sent me a text of a fb post about the cat. He is not sick, he is 20 years old and lost. Somebody else had already caught him and took him to the shelter. I hope there was a happy reunion, but no updates were posted.

And in the stupid department
Last night I pulled some chicken cordon bleu out of the freezer, put it on a cookie sheet and in the over. I couldn’t figure out why the over light was on, and I couldn’t turn it off. My son took the chicken out of the oven for me as I was on an irk call. I got a piece and it was cold, and I thought, I wasn’t on the phone that long. Well, the inside was ice cold, so I took it back out for some more time in the oven.
Mystery solved, I was putting the cookie sheet in the wrong way and the over door wasn’t closing all the way. That is why the light was on, and the chicken didn’t cook all the way through.
So I cooked it longer, then burned my finger getting it out.

Glad you enjoyed the video Boo
I think Ziggy was only about 4 months old in that video. He is a tough little guy, and so freakin’ happy all the time. He has one blue eye and one brown eye, so adorable.

Indeed.

One of our cats made her final trip to the vet a few months ago. Since then Lady SCAdian and I have both, on several occasions, felt a cat jump up onto the bed or walk across the bed – when there was definitely no cat in the room…

Comfort food for dinner tonight. Doctored up Bush’s beans and fried hot dogs. Eating like a teenager is fun sometimes.

I’ve spent the last three days putting together genealogy charts for my youngest son and his wife. My son’s chart was pretty easy, as I already had most all of that info. His wife’s chart was a bitch to do, as I was starting pretty much from scratch. Her mother has a mind like a steel colander, so information coming from her is usually garbled, at best. I was finally able to iron out most of the wrinkles and put together a decent look at her family history, though. The hard part will be putting the tree together using printed labels.

Evening all. Went down to the park to meet a couple parents to give them their kid’s medals…so of course they couldn’t make it. Have the medals packaged up and will drop them in the mail tomorrow. Also need to pickup my dry-cleaning (Summer comforter).

Sari, loved the video. First time I watched it I thought the Airedale was doing the herding, but then I watched it again and saw the Corgi. Beautiful. And baths aren’t so bad, I’ve been taking them all my life (only time I shower is on vacation or visiting my brother).

Cookie, hear ya’ on comfort food. I’ll be fixing my Tuesday Mac-n-Cheese shortly after finishing this message.

A little rainy tonight and more is expected, so inside I will be tonight for internettin’ and readin’. All y’all take care.

Good luck with the new horsepistol gotti!

sari, that was a good video. I love corgis! There are several that are part of Nelson’s Low Rider Krew at the dog park.

doggio, growing up, we just buttered a piece of bread and slid the ear of corn around in it. When you’re done eating corn, you still have some butter bread with your meal.

butters, did Mr.B have a weird sense of humor or something? :stuck_out_tongue: When I lost my sweetie, I had some of the same thought process about a sign. Oddly enough, I got a call from his phone about a month after his passing. :open_mouth: I had forgotten that since he and one of his sisters was on a family plan with his dad, his nephew wound up with his phone. Cam was going through and checking the numbers on the contact list to see if he wanted to delete or not. Mike just had me listed as J. :stuck_out_tongue:

Welcome back hippie ! I’m glad you survived and are recuperating nicely now.

Has anyone heard from nellie today? I don’t recall seeing a post from her.

Irked, tangled with AT&T about their billing practices. If they don’t get it right this time, I may have to go all bobbio on them.

This crap started about a year ago. They got hit and miss with their paper billing, so I tried their online bill pay. What a sorry excuse for a bill pay site. They “forgot” my password every month (and I keep that kind of stuff in a password manager, since I’m old and blonde) and half the time, I still couldn’t get in. The last couple of months, the paper bills showed up, but they were for amounts like .01 and .07 each. WTF? Then my email notification this month showed a balance of $494. Not like I didn’t expect something like this. Since I couldn’t get into the site (again!), I went to the AT&T store and paid my bill. They couldn’t do anything about billing, so I called 611 on the way home. Now, I’ll see if they actually send a paper bill next month.

Poor Nelson, all three walks today will have been in the dark.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy Y’all! I laundered, went to the drug sto’ and :open_mouth: Wally^World :open_mouth:, napped, futzed around, et sup, and now here I am.

Hipster glad you’re back home and in recovery.

sari Ziggy made me go AWWWWWWW. He’s a cute lil’ feller.

Wheelie OYKW and I are grumpy old men and proud of it!
