Go to your user options, choose Edit Options, scroll down to Show Avatars and check it on.
Yes, it’s working (and it works). 
I can tell yours is Abbey Road, but I couldn’t tell you if it’s the Beatles or some tourists doing an impersonation.
50x50 is just so small. But it’s better than nothing.
I know it’s early and people will settle in with different ones later, with current ones maybe being placeholders for a bit, but I’m surprised at how many people (including me) went very literal with avatars matching usernames.
(My username is a My Little Pony reference, so that’s my pony in my pic.)

I wouldn’t gloat. They’ve been talking and considering this for years, I hear. I am a newbie myself so I don’t know all the ins and outs of the debate. Recently the admin has changed that’s why things are moving in a new direction.
