Awesome remakes of old games

In the 90’s Scorched Earth came out and it was great. Then in the 2000’s from a British Website comes Scorched 3D. It’s addicting (to me anyway).

So what other updates of classic games are out there that awesome to play?

One of my students had a Scorched Earth clone on his iPhone.

I highly, highly, highly, recommend these free remakes of King’s Quest 1, 2, and Quest for Glory 2.

Also, the free Maniac Mansion remake/update is great too.

Monkey Island 1 and 2 have been updated as well and are great.

There is currently a Masters of Magic remake in beta testing that i cannot wait for.

Are you referring toStardock’s Elemental: War of Magic?

This was going to be my post. KQ1 and QfG2 are pretty much recreations of the original games with better graphics and a mouse-based interface. KQ1 is pretty simple by modern standards and I’d recommend mostly for nostalgia value or “historic” interest, but I think QfG2 holds up very well.

The AGD version of KQ2 is significantly different from the original and is longer, has a more complex plot, new puzzles, and different solutions to some of the old puzzles.

Fallout is essentially an update of Wasteland. Though the party mechanics were new and not so hot.

I actually thought they expanded KQ1 as well. Am I wrong? I mean, I thought they added puzzles and story to it.

No, there are a few Easter Eggs but in terms of story and puzzles it is the same as the original game. Well, the official Sierra 1990 remake of the game, at least. I think there may have been some minor changes between the 1984 version and the 1990 EGA version, but I only played the latter.

Indeed.

Oolite is a remade version of Elite, if you liked the space trading genre.
