I have a major dentist phobia as a result of a friend passing away in the chair while I was in the waiting room (back during my teen years) waiting to give her a ride home. So I never visited often and I chew tobacco so --------- lets just say that any visit to the dentist needs professional help. In the form of a couple clonopin my GP/GS has me keep handy for such emergencies. If you check around a couple dentists and explain the situation they can always hit you with a couple valiums at the door. That doesn’t help the finances but -------- that eating thing becomes a habit for most of us we want to continue.
Other than that awake and generally adulting but nothing serious like laundry or anything.
gotti, the spare tire was one of the first things I checked on the Hyundais and Kias. It seems that they have returned to including them since the customers hated the fix-a-flat standard.
{{{Juliet}}} Dental pain sucks. I had a root canal this spring (my fourth  ) and will get another crown next year when I can afford it. Sometimes I think it would have been cheaper to get dentures.
Today I have to clear the rest of my belongings from the rental, as I will be changing companies. Hopefully, I’ll get a car that’s easier to get in an out of. If anyone is curious, don’t get a Malibu if you’re over 4’10" and/or have mobility issues. It actually has a lower roof line than my Yaris did. I’m hoping Enterprise has an Elantra or Soul available in my town.
The other thing that I need to do is set up an appointment to test drive a Soul. I did this a couple of years ago, but it’s for reals now.
The muscle relaxers are da bomb. I called the doctor this morning to have him actually write a scrip for them. With that, I should be ready to return to irk Monday. Last night, I actually slept on my side for a couple of hours. Someday, I may get back to my side of the bed.
I ran to WalMart to do a lunchtime errand, stopping at BK for lunch on the way back. Nice break in the middle of the day, except for other idiot drivers…
**Juliet **- sorry about your toofies. I think I was fortunate to have a really good dentist when I was a kid, so I don’t have an issue with going, other than the nasty-tasting tooth polish they use. You know it’s the right thing to do, so take a deep breath and get it over with. You’ll be glad you did.
Three anna half more hours to go then my weekend begins. YAY!
Sorry about your dental woes Juliet. I had a similar phobia back in the day, so I can sympathize. I’m getting an implant sometime in the next few months.
Ruble, tobaccy has killed a number of my friends. It’s a nasty way to die. That’s all I’m gonna say about that.
Mom, did you guys get your network stuff sorted? Was I right (for once) about Microsquash’s ridiculous ‘homegroup’ nonsense.
Actually it makes a peculiar kind of sense and would work just fine if they’d give a person clear and concise instructions on how to set it all up and work it, all in one place.
Red, one of the major reasons we picked the Scion was 'cause it’s taller (than our Mazda was) and is easy for crippled up old people to get in and out of. It’s also roomy inside. We’re both bigger than a breadbox.
I’ve got to pay a couple of bills today too. I should have paid them Wednesday, but life happened. Speaking of which…
Juliet, just echoing what the others have said, hugs but you’re going to have to go. Valium may not be a bad idea. Doesn’t help that you have to go back to a practice you don’t have much faith in, but life ain’t fair. Hang in there and we’ll be here for you.
Been an interesting morning. Drove up to the place that’s making the new cabinets for my house and there was great excitement at my arrival; not for me, but the building cat had had kittens that morning and they thought one was missing (turned out it was still in the box). But did change the paint scheme and the knobs for the cabinets, so there was that. Also talked to the plumbing supply folks about new faucets and shower heads for the spare bathroom (it’s amazing, once you’re committed to spend great sums of cash, you start thinking about how you can spend even more…)
Mickey D’s provided lunch and now I’m waiting to see if it rains on soccer tonight like it did yesterday.
{{Juliet}} I don’t like going to the dentist now they’ve stopped giving me stickers for looking after my teeth. Oh yeah, plus there’s none taking on new patients in my whole freakin’ county. I had to go back up to my old town to find one, which is 2.5 hours away.
Irk was decidedly irksome today; holiday cottage cleanin’ job. Normally we’re working in pairs, but because someone was off, I was supposed to be doing one cottage solo (normally 2-3 between 2). I was there 9am. They were supposed to be going, at the latest, at 10. 10 comes, there’s a car outside being loaded up and kids milling. About 10.30 it appeared they’d finally gone, so I knocked and went in and… that was the neighbours going, there’s someone sitting there with a cuppa; they’re still there. They thought they’d booked til tomorrow. They were not happy to be told they were incorrect (they booked online, luckily we could prove it’s their mistake). Had to get management involved though.
We had to give 'em extra time to go, and I didn’t even get in to start until after 1. Shoulda been done by then.
Got diverted instead to clean up after some nasty messy people who left tomato sauce smeared over everything, including the rugs, and dirty underwear under the beds.
Sometimes I wish we could leave reviews for guests, like they can for hotels. Both of today’s would have got 1 star, maybe half for the slobs.
**Bumba **- **FCD **decided to wait till the new computer gets here before tackling the network. My 8-y/o machine is about to go tits-up, I fear, so it’s time to save all my photos and documents to the backup. I’ll have to (dammit) adjust to a new Win 10 machine and get it set up so I don’t hate it completely.
Hey - guess what! I’ve got a second drawing from hell from Tim!! It’s similar, tho slightly less complicated than the last one. Unfortunately, he’d deleted a couple of things that I’m having to put back in the model, so it’s taking longer than it should to sort it all out. But less than an hour to go, so who cares!
They called and actually moved up my appointment to first thing in the morning. They’re hoping to be able to take care of the problem tomorrow instead of just doing an exam and telling me to come back. That’s promising.
I will go.
I’m going to put some calming music on my phone and bring my earbuds. I’m hoping I can focus on the music and not on the frightening stuff going on in my mouth.
It’s ridiculous. I’m a 35-year-old woman, who doesn’t take shit from anyone, who squashes bugs with the best of them, and ain’t afraid of no needles. But open my mouth and I’m a frightened, crying, child. My mind knows all of this… but damned be those emotions!
No wonder it felt like I walked into a wall when I went outside. The dew point is 78 degrees. It feels like I’m in Flytrap’s neighborhood, not New England!
Thanks, **flytrap **- I’d heard you could do that, but I’d never looked into it. Some time next week, I’ll inherit one of FCD’s machines when he gets his new one.
Dunno what we’ll do for supper tonight. I need real food.
Howdy Y’all! I’ve been, well, semi-productive today. Did a bunch of errands, had N.O.L. with a friend at Zaxby’s, and neatened up my closet. It’s been rainy off and on all day. No big rains, just steady, intermittent rain. We have ingested majik intartoobz pizza and sallit (which makes pizza healthy) and all is well.
{{{Juliet}}} I don’t like the dentist either. Glad they can take you tomorrow and appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed for everything to get done.
There was an independent add on that made Win 8 work like 7. Unfortunately, I can’t alter things at work. With Win 8, it is “easiest” for me to search for things. There is a start button on 10, but it just starts a cell phone interface. Perhaps I can change the admin accounts at work as described in that link.
I’m just a little bummed because I read about the guy who own Nathan’s Famous Hotdogs is a Trump fan, hosting a big fundraiser for him. Nathan’s are my very favorite hotdogs, and I even named my last dog Nathan(such a good wiener dog!)
Guess I’ll buy Hebrew National for a while, they are my second favorite But if I named a dog it would sound wierd to call “Here Hebrew National!”
Just got in from test driving a Soul and stopping for groceries.
The Soul sucks. The small engine never did get up to freeway speeds and the 2.0 took four miles to get to 70. That would get you killed around Nashville. Tomorrow, I get rid of the hellish Malibu for (hopefully) an Elantra or Sentra. For now, I’s hongry!
So after I rescued the house spider, she waited till I was on the throne, then roped down to the floor and charged me. Went to the VFW for trivia, my team won(two of the categories were guns and beer). Everybody donated their winnings ,since the post got robbed last week.
Juliet , I understand the fear, local anathetics don’t work on me, so the dentist visit can suck.
red, I’m looking at a Rio right now. I’ve rented enough of them to know they can hold their own in traffic.
I have returned from taking my daughter to CA to start school. It ended up taking longer than expected, but she’s settled in. I’ll try to read and catch up tomorrow.
Hugs and how you doings and skritches as appropriate.
Could not fall asleep last night - at least not till after 1. I woke 2 or 3 times for the bathroom, and finally got up just before 7 because I felt sorry for Higgs waiting for her morning pee and breakfast. So I’m up. Tahred…
We’ve got to drive back to the place where we bought our pellets. We didn’t notice that they’d overcharged us and they can’t credit it back without our credit card. They’re way the heck up in Brandywine, which is a long-ass drive away. So we’ll go get breakfast somewhere up there, then get our refund and come home.
It’s dreary and overcast, which means laundry will have to go in the dryer. It’s also clean-the-critter-fountain day. Good times ahead.
