Excuse me, Purcette, but I meant suggestions for Brooklyn.
Yes, I know there’s no “r” in there, but there should be dagnabit! 'Cause you’re my cute little pocketbook, is what you are.

<looks at feet>
Ummm… I kinda forgot about the Brooklyn part
Maybe some kind of compromise can be reached if people want to do both? (or maybe I should just shaddup and make peace offerings to the Brooklyn deity…)
And you know I love it when you add the “r.”
Ahem. If some persons had come to Ruby Foo’s, then some persons would have been present at the vote for the proposed activity, in other words, a Broadway show. It’s eerie, really, how things come up in patterns in one’s life. Just the other day, I wrote a pit post about the importance of voting. Of course, I also wrote a pit post about tantric sex with a chicken, so I hope that doesn’t come up again.
[sub]And thank you, Delphica, for adding the context (vote + origins) that I somehow failed to include over 3 whole posts…[/sub]
Count me in, and add one to the men-in-kilts tally. I can’t wait to meet everybody IRL.
But…um…
We’re talking about NYC in January here. If I’m gonna leave me knickers at home, I hope we’re looking at non-drafty places to hang out.
[sub]As it were.[/sub]
Uh, yeah. Oh no, UncleBill, don’t wear your kilt! I wouldn’t like that at all. Really.
Hey, if I’m going to be wearing my Official Dopefest Miniskirt[sup]tm[/sup] in NYC in January, some o’ you menfolks can by God wear kilts!
So far, the highlight of my life was going on a date with a man wearing a kilt (and I wasn’t even expecting it!) so here’s another plea for as many men as possible to kilt themselves. Or whatever the verb is for kilt wearing.
I’m going to pop up on Saturday and leave Sunday (after Hama and I go to the GAP Mecca), so I think I’d be out for a Broadway show.
However, I’m ready to do anything you guys plan for Saturday afternoon.
If possible, I’d like to stop by Ground Zero for a little while. I can do that by myself if no one else is interested, though.
Also, since I don’t have to worry about driving, I’m with Alphagene on getting smashed beyong belief. Although I have nightmares about the bus ride home last year (all that damn rocking! Ah!), I wanna get trashed and end up smooching with someone as adorable as SuaSponte.
Oh yeah, can we make sure they don’t card underage drinkers, too?
Well, if you all go around taking votes behind my back. . .
I *knew[/] nobody would come to Brooklyn. And I would’ve come to Ruby Foos, but I neither Pain nor Heartache would come with me and after the last Thursday dinner it became
obvious that I need a chaperone or two.
As for Ground Zero, if I think by January I could face it without crying like a jackass, then I’m in. I haven’t had an unexpected attack of the weepies in about two weeks and I like it that way.
I meant to do that.
Preview damnit, preview!
Ike and the MTA are in cahoots to foil any and all plans to go to Brooklyn! Ok, so Ike was just the messenger about the renovations at the Transit Museum, but whatever.
Since the first choice (Transit Museum) didn’t work out, I think we’re just asking if people would like the show idea. It would be a Saturday afternoon matinee. If everyone hates it, we can always think of Option #3.
Sadly, the group discount doesn’t seem to be as big as I thought it was. I checked around a little today, and the prices still seem very high to me, especially since I think a great many of us (not naming any names here) are planning to drop quite a pretty penny on alcohol later that same evening. However, I might have a connection at Schubert via a coworker, so I will have more info to report on prices on Monday.
Popping in here from the high seas (or at least a marina off the high seas).
If we’re voting for Brooklyn things here, I’d put in a vote for the Brooklyn Museum. It’s a treasure that most out-of-towners miss.
See you all soon.
Just to remind people of this dope-tabulous upcoming event. (Like y’all could forget anyway).
It’s still early and the brain doesn’t want to work, so I’ll let you guys talk details until my mind decides to start working again.
I didn’t want to start a whole thread about this, but since I’m going to this dopefest if I get a job, I hope y’all will send some good vibes my way -
I have a second interview with a company today. WoooooHooooo! It’s working with a language (Pro*C) that I have a lot of good experience in, and not many people use anymore.
So if I get this, I’ll be heading for NY in January! And I might even drag my sweetie into it as well. Hope to see y’all there!
:TP crosses her fingers, toes, eyes and anything else that might bring good luck to Zyada:
Good job in what you know would be awesome. Getting to go to the NYC DopeFest would just be an added bonus!
<slight hijack>
Where is the job located at? (If you’ve mentioned it before, I’m sorry if I missed it)
</slight hijack>
Well, I live in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area, just a little to the west of being halfway between the two. The job will be in N. Dallas(Galleria area). On the bad side, it will be a horrible, wretched awful commute that New Yorkers would laugh at, but this Ft. Worth girl has never had more than a 30 minute commute before. On the good side, there are Dopers who work in the same area, so I should be able to get with friends for lunch or supper during the week.
Thanks for the good wishes!
We openly laugh at it!
I remember a day they were talking about a jam on the LBJ as I drove thru the exits mentioned- yeah, maybe I was doing 30…the guy next to me must’ve wondered why the nut next to him was laughing.
add 2 more to the list of those will be there, myself and skittles.
last time i was in Dallas it took me 2 hours to get from downtown to the airport due to…
ya ready?
5 f’ing raindrops
Giving this a bump, because I’m kinda sorta interested. I’m looking for super-cheap airfare [sub]actually, I’m looking for super-cheap everything, but I digress[/sub].
Don’t add me to any lists yet, though. I’ll let you know. If you don’t mind my presence, that is.
Oh, yeah, baby!
