Saturday Afternoon Sightseeing: Upper West Side Highlights
Meet at Billdo’s apartment on West 72nd Street at 1:00 p.m. (please be prompt)

We’ll start with a short walk through Central Park. We’ll then pay an extended visit to the American Museum of Natural History. After the museum we’ll walk over to Broadway, where we’ll see some West Side institutions like Zabars, the Beacon Theater, Fairway, the Ansonia, and, time and interest permitting, head all the way down to Lincoln Center. We’ll then go back to Billdo’s apartment for light refreshments and head to dinner from there.

A New York City brunch at Billdo’s apartment from 11 a.m. to around 2 p.m.

After brunch you can stop by the West 77th Street Sunday Flea Market, or perhaps someone will arrange another sightseeing trip to a NYC attraction.
DIRECTIONS:
From Upstate NY: Take NYS Thruway south over Tappan Zee Bridge. After bridge, follow signs for Saw Mill Parkway south. Saw Mill will turn into the Henry Hudson Parkway (Route 9A), which you should take to West 79th Street Exit, and then see below.
From Northern NJ and points West: Take I-80 across George Washington Bridge. From bridge take Henry Hudson Parkway (Route 9A) south to West 79th Street Exit, and then see below.
**From New England:**Take I-95 south to Henry Hudson Parkway (Route 9A) south to West 79th Street Exit, and then see below.
From West 79th St. Exit of Henry Hudson: Follow circle at end of off ramp 3/4 way around to West 79th Street. Take West 79th to end (Columbus Avenue) and turn right. Go two blocks to West 77th Street and turn right. Go one block and across Amsterdam Avenue, and you should see several parking garages.
From Central NJ and points South: Take NJ Turnpike (I-95) north to Lincoln Tunnel. After tunnel, follow signs to 10th Avenue. Proceed north on 10th Ave, which will change into Amsterdam Avenue after 59th Street. You will find parking garages off Amsterdam at around 77th Street.
Subway: Take 1 train to 79th Street or B/C train to 81st Street/Museum of Natural History.
Lodging: If you’d like to crash on a doper’s couch, floor or other horizontal surface, post here and I’m sure you’ll get several offers. If you’re looking for a reasonable (~$125-$150 per night) hotel in the area, e-mail me (Billdo@nyc.rr.com) and I’ll make suggestions.
