Back to "normality" in the MMP?

Ruble always emailed me & I posted them on his behalf.
(Long) nappage completed; still some cobwebs but feeling more hooman again.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated, came back to da cave, made omelets and grits, et said omelets and grits and then nappage ensued. Long nappage as in two hours worth. I got reminded this mornin’ that presence is requested at six this evenin’ at a wine and cheese/baby shower. Our Deacon’s son and DIL are havin’ a babbeh who will be our Deacon’s and her husband’s first grandchild. All will be present for this, so I do feel a sense of obligation to go and really also want to go at least for a little while. The good thing about an event like this is one can come and go fairly quickly if one desires.

Miss Owl My younger brother (may he RIP) once had a cat named Alpo. Is Alpo dawg good still made?

Peaches here’s hopin’ your aunt’s friend can talk some sense into her. I thought we were goin’ to have to go the legal route with an uncle who was in a similar situation but fortunately he saw the light.

My son-in-law’s mother and sister are on that ship too, although they posted that they were going to be transferred to Oakland(?) to go into quarantine. SIL’s mother is 95 BTW.

We drove over the pass after all. Roads were wet but not icy and we never saw any snow, (in the air. Plenty on the ground.)

Yoiks! I was at Kroger on Friday and went by the display outside the pharmacy looking for glucose test strips and they had a whole shelf of alcohol swabs there at 100 for a dollar.

Our local Safeway used to have the best bakery around. Maybe you could up their game.

It was 32F according to our porch thermometer when I took the dog’s out at 6, or 7 this morning. 44F now.

Sorry I missed your Birthday Boofae, hope it was a good’en.

Did the cat die of old age…or did a dog eat it? With that name; one couldn’t blame the dog. :o

Happy Sunday!

It’s a nice 61 degrees outside, much nicer than the 28 at the park this morning.

Congrats in the new kitty OW

Good luck on the job search Cupcakes

I made roasted fart blossoms-n-bacon. They were a tad overdone - I used a bag of baby sprouts instead of the big 'un, and I neglected to reduce the cooking time.

Dishes are washing. Daughter is fetching Roxy. I’m about to assume the knitting position. And the evening winds down.

Painful morning. They called the Doctor in on Sunday!!! I was shocked. He said I had a little infection in the surgical site. But he also said that it was bound to happen. I feel tons better this afternoon.
The lil’wrekker brought me a Firehouse sub.
Big Wrek sat in the chair and slept.
They’ve all gone home, thank you!!

Miss Owl, good luck with the little stranger. I like the name Tulip.

The Kroger that I went to Friday was out but hadn’t raised their prices. The one near where I was yesterday was closed temporarily for storm damage (the Panera Bread in that shopping center will have to be demolished and the Petco was pretty much blown away  ). I stopped at another Kroger on the way home today and found some. I hate to be the one buying too much of something in a situation like this, but I bought four boxes since they had plenty.

metal mouse, you’re more ambitious than I. :stuck_out_tongue: I just leave my car radio on whatever time it was when the battery last had to be disconnected. This time, it was this summer when they replaced the radio unit.

O_W, congrats on your new overlord Phoenix! May you spend many years of joy together.

I heathenated this morning at our temporary venue, the Cumberland River Compact. They were kind enough to offer space for displaced meetings in publicly owned places free (usually it would be $800 for the four hours we rent). It was a nice place, but a PITA to schlep gear into (I’m still grateful for their kindness though).

Afterward, we helped serve sandwiches and soup across the river at our usual meetup site, which was a designated relief center.

When I came home, it was still early enough to take Nelson to the dog park. He had a ball and is now a tah-red little dog.

Miss owl, congrats on the new feline. May you both be happy in the relationship.

Becks, lil’wrekker needs to get more from your will after that generous act…

Bumba, glad the trip was uneventful. Hope SIL’s Mom does OK.

doggio, I’m trying. Except for eating out at Texas Roadhouse, been inside and slothful and slept about 3.5 hours this afternoon. Got a couple of things to get done next week if I feel up to it.

Good night all and I’ll catch you on the next MMP.

‘New’ cat tree

When we adopted Tonka back in 2013, Mrs. L.A. bought him a cat tree like this one. Tonka used it quite a bit. When Creamsicle came, they both used it. The rope on the front (lower) upright was shredded. The carpet on the right-side (carpeted) upright was completely shredded.

I bought a (high quality) carpet remnant last recently. Today I took off the old rope and the shredded carpet, and wrapped the posts with the new carpet. It looks much nicer, and there was hardly any blood. Goo is in the top cradle. I didn’t see her climb up, but I’m assuming the new carpet is acceptable.

I made biscuits and gravy, and scrambled eggs for breakfast this morning. I thought it was perfect, but Mrs. L.A. mentioned the cayenne twice. I’ll have to tone it down, I guess.

ETA: I just found the cat tree on a letgo ad for $50. It cost me $30 for the carpet (and I have extra), and $5 for heavy-duty staples. (Now I have extra staples too. )

.

flyboy congratulations on your cat tree finding.

Today we worked on the house a bit, and tonight I am cooking a marinated tri-tip, with actual mashed N.O.T., and corn (probably).

Happy Sunday all.

KITTEHS!,11111!, Elebenty one1. Two pantherettes, a finger, and a calico. My head just exploded.

Howdy Y’all! We’re home from the whine and cheeze. Actually been home for a while, but I’m just now postin’. Lots of folks there and a lot of babbeh presents. The parents to be skyped from Charleston and the grandparents to be (well, grandmother to be) opened presents so everyone could ooh and aaah. Well, I guess one does not ooh and aaah over gift cards so much (there were a bunch of those, includin’ one from us from da jungle), but a good time was had by all. Plus, all kinds of good eats! Becks, since you’re into food porn, there were all kinds of cheeses, crackers, meats like prosciutto, salami, genoa ham, turkey, and chikin, pickled stuff like okra and spareguts, salted N.O.N., grapes, chawklit dipped strawberries, brie en croute, grapes, and apple slices with caramel dippin’ sauce, and petit fours.

MOOOOOOM why ruin good bacon with fart blossoms! :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh, and just so y’all know, the biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can has been hauled all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow.

Have a good night everyone!

Just to be clear, I didn’t buy the one I found. I ‘refurbished’ the one we had, and only found the one on letgo when I was looking for a picture for my post.

Canes won! Making poke chops with sweet **N.O.T.**s and grean beans and shrooms.

Only a tad? You’re supposed to roast them at 500 degrees for 12 hours, then use the ashes to fertilize the soil.:stuck_out_tongue:

Okay Mom, the Food porn is great but fart-blossoms are outta my food-fetish league

Umm? What are they?

flyboy, cool cat tree

Beck, I think they’re Brussels sprouts. Glad the doc came in. I take it they have you on IV antibiotics?

I’m feeling so much better now. I don’t know why.l This whole disease is a mystery to me.

I spent the entire day on the phone. Kids, siblings, cousin, niece…not how I planned the day, but I’m feeling blessed nonetheless. One call was upsetting. My brother, who’s always had the bests vision and has been healthy, has macular degeneration. I’m pretty upset. :frowning:

Happy National Sleep-Deprived Eve! I’m figuring many people can sleep in today. Tomorrow’s when the time change will really hit them. When are we going to quit this nonsense and quit changing the time?
**
Miss Owl**, I can’t wait to see photos! I love that name! May you enjoy many years of feline bliss.

Swampy, glad the baby shower was fun. it seems like baby showers are evolving from the genteel, pink-and-blue, women-only affairs to a more relaxed, any-gender event. I think it’s great!

flyboy, I love to cook, but there were many times during my marriage when I wished I’d married someone who refused to even make Jell-o because “It’s too complicated.” Both my kids are good cooks who married even better ones.

Morning all! Thank you so much for the birthday wishes, I hope to have many more of them too  It was a good day, there was fun and curry and music involved in it all, so lots of my favourite things with my favourite people

I made Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) a believer by splitting them and frying them in bacon grease with onion and garlic.
