Back to the grind in the MMP

The travel or the leftovers, flytrap? One must be accurate on these things…

Bing maps say from Bristol, TN (NE corner) to Memphis (SW) is 501 miles and can be driven in 7.5 hours. From Cleveland, TN (SE) to Tiptonville NW) is 357 miles in about 5.5 hours. A good chunk of the day, but doable by car with time left over. 2 days on a bike? Would depend on conditioning. And mountains.

Rosie, hope it just needs a starter motor or something minor. I am hopeless when it comes to car problems, reason that I pay AAA dues each year.

Otherwise, typical Firday. The Bladder-Alarm went off at 3:30am, and I got to irk just in time for the lights to go out just before 0700 (that’s the 4th failure we’ve had in this building in the past 5 weeks; what the hell is going on out there?). And then just as I am dozing off, they come back on and I have to get back to irk.

And it’s raining. Oh joy.

Good morning all. After my little celebration that the morning commute was “only” an hour and a half, my evening commute with 3 and a half hours. So that’s 5 hours total in the car. I was not amused.

Today, I shall work from home. And it’s Firday! So there’s that. I have noticed that I am light on beerverages, so shopping must be done. And also for other, less important things, like food.

Onwards. Yay. And BLURF!

Blurf. And the sprog haz a blurf, too. We’re both home with some crappy virus, so of course, he’s playing Halo. I’ve been catching up on housework, but I did make an awesome breffest of eggs scrambled with fresh 'sparagus and cheese, with an English muffin and apple slices. And coffee, because I need caffeine like I need oxygen.

Later, it’s off to the bank to cash the insurance check from the damage to my car, and to get some lunch for me and the sprog. Chickie doodle soup sounds about right.

It helps that
a) Several members of my family are church musicians to the point of having advanced degrees on the subject
and
b) I’m one of those really odd Christians (ELCA Lutheran but not all of us feel this way) who believe like Saint Peter that you really can’t follow Jesus without having a firm knowledge and respect for Judaism.

As a result, every time I’ve read “Nava” over these years my brain has gone off on that tangent.

OK then – the chili pot remains open.

Busy, busy morning, which is good. And just over 3 hours to go, which is better! My engineer has been giving me more complicated stuff to do, so my brain is being challenged. I figure that’s a good thing in my advanced years. Plus it passes the time.

The weekend promises to be relatively mild, but very icky, with clouds and rain. Not that I had outdoor activities planned, but still, ick. maybe we’ll finally go see Star Wars. That’s a good indoor activity.

Meanwhile - LUNCH!!

Happy Firday! Ishy weather predicted for no. Illinois this weekend. tomorrow I have a bunch of errands, then yoga, then Chinese takeout for din-din. I’ve had a gnawin and a cravin for egg rolls and beef chop suey for quite some time. Sunday’s high temp is 20 so I’m staying in all day.

I did not make any horse puckies; therefore I didn’t have any as leftovers either. Where does one even get horse puckeies, Mickey D’s???

I don’t know how you eat lunch so early, I can’t even think about lunch at that time.

Still blurfy but I got some stuff completed. I am about to go to Home depot and get a couple of giant totes to store some clothes in and while I am out I will probably wind up at the Pubic store to some filets for steak night. Hubby is on his way home and should get here by 4 ish.
Thank Goodness it’s Firday!!!1111!!!

I’m calling bull puckey on your horse puckey. It’s 3.5 hours from Memphis to Nashville and4.5 from Nashville to Bristol by car. Now if you’re taking said horse…

Happy birthday OYKW!

It looks like I’ll have things at irk wrapped up by 1:30 today.

Happy Firday!

It’s a cloudy 35 degrees outside.

We have to go back for the text books today. The bookstore was moved to a different building, so he didn’t get them yesterday.
His orientation went badly. He is supposed to have an email address, I thought the school email was good but the professor wants them to use a personal email address. Doesn’t make sense to me, but the professor thinks personal emails are checked more often and so communication is better. Then he had trouble logging in the the website they are using. He was mortified over having so much trouble and needing help. Get over it - shit happens - but he doesn’t see it that way.

Doggio - I need all the same it seems except for the echo part.
I finally got the email to reset my password on the payment site. * They* came as a clump overnight - all 17 of them. I also got three thank you emails for making my payment. I hope that doesn’t mean the payment will be taken out of my checking account 3 times.
I was also informed by the nice CS guy in the phone that my new password should be in the format of XXXXnnXXXX because that is the system’s preferred format.

Rosie - I’d love to be able to give you some money.

I need to buy a powerball ticket - with that much winnings I can share.
Happy Birthday OYKW

and belated HB to FCMmom

Flytrap - using a stamp means one has to place their trust in the USPS, and the company to whom one is sending the money. I prefer online when I can see the payment has been made and I get a little text on my phone saying the money has been deleted from my account.
OK - I’m anal about paying bills. I don’t trust anybody in the process.

Red I’m sorry about Dede

It is well known that traveling with a child that time is increased by the square root of two. :dubious:

Maybe it’s because I have breakfast before 6, so I’m dying by 11… ya think?

My brain is officially fried. A big chunk of the work that I did just disappeared. But since I’d already done it, the re-do went pretty quick. I’ve got an easy bit to do now, then it’s home time.

YAY!!

Home from work, Gordie is walked, made some lunch. Now it’s hockey time.

Lunch? I see him on Facebook a lot.

Howdy from da cave! OK, I’ve been here for a little while. I decided that if I was goin’ to spend time doin’ on-line trainin’ I could do it just as well from the comfort of da cave, so I did. Also, I have picked up OYKW’s cake and it is tucked away in da chest freezer. I shall prepare pancakes, scrambled aigs, and bacon upon his arrival. I shall also prepare grits because I want grits. Tomorrow night we will go to a good friend’s house for chili 'n fixin’s. It will be good cause she makes really, really, really, really good chili.

Meanwhile, there’s intartoobz to be perused!

Speaking from (painful) experience, I think it’s more like the square root of 9 or 16. On a 5 minute drive (from the restaurant to our home), we had to stop because blood was about to be shed over a reading light in the back seat.

My only meeting for the day got cancelled, so I’m working on a staffing and organization plan. Wheee.

Happy Birthday to OYKW! Have a fun night Swampy!

And, FTR, I’m with Mooommm. 11 is a perfect time for lunch after breakfast at 6. I get downright grouchy without a timely lunch.

Time for more coffee.

The sprog has given up on Halo and has moved on to FIFA '15. There’s something ironic about wanting to play a [del]soccer[/del] football game on the TV rather than go outside to play, but I’m not a 13-year-old boy.

I just finished filling out my taxes. We generally file separately because of reasons, some of them good ones. All I need to do is hit “send” on January 19, and I’ll be good to go. One less thing to have to do later.

HOME!!!

Calzone and salad being delivered for supper.

I think I’ll be sleeping with Mel again.

That’s about all.

I stole Wendy’s dinner because I need red meat right now.

Yes, I know it’s only 4:30. I haven’t eaten anything of substance since 10 this morning.

One more day of irk and then I can has weekend.

What is the name of the drug given children on trips? Dramamine? Rum?

Benadryl. Given liberally and as often as needed. Not that I have any experience with that, no sir, I don’t.
