The hardest part about being single is I don’t have anyone telling me what he thinks we should do. It’s just me sitting here talking to myself and getting nowhere. I mean, I can handle little stuff like whether I should run the dishwasher now or wait. It’s the big stuff–IRS mess, family issues I’ve been told not to share with family, vision situation–that has me in knots.
shoe, the FML meeting starts soon. We can just sit around and glare at each other, maybe heave exasperated nose-sighs now and then. If I start to cry, glare harder. I need to quit that shit.
shady, so sorry about the kitty.
FCM, kudos on not turning to the mansplainer and saying, “Let’s try it out on you.”
VanGo, yikes on the knee. You’re smart to go easy on it.
BooFae, I shall alert the church elders. Henceforth, they shall…also call him “Blokie.” It’s a great nickname.
The blood donation people have said ix-nay on my ood-blay. They also want to know who the guy is who’s following me around with a bucket.
Pixel, our chi-hooah-hooah, has kidney failure. He also has a heart murmur. Treatment for the kidney issue is normally special food (can do) and extra fluids. His heart probably won’t deal well with the extra fluids. I’m hoping for the best. If we can get things balanced out he could have a good life for quite a while. If not, then the next few weeks are going to be very, very hard.
I’m having a challenging time with my own health at the moment. My neurologist wants to see me before we do another procedure. Great. She can’t see me until Halloween. OK. Anyone else? The nurse practitioner will also be accepted. She can’t see me for 6 weeks. I started today with another message to the dr about is the ANYONE else that can see me?
{{{Shady and Squeaky}}} Wishing her a peaceful ending.
{{{BooFae}}} I’m sorry about your friends’ prognosis.
I hope that you can get a handle on Pixel’s health sunny.
Today was a Fubar Monday for the first half. I had two hours downtime with computer woes. Oy vey! You’d think for a tech outfit that we’d be better at keeping those things up to speed.
Howdy Y’all! Except for the minimal effort extended to make sup, sloth has been the order of the day. We are very good at this retirement gig! Mowage shall be accomplished tomorrow, however. It must needs be so thus shall it happen.
{{{BooFae}}} so sorry about your friends. Also you get a pass on not havin’ a deviled aig tray bein’ as you are not a southern USAer.
sunny hope things are OK for Pixel soonest.
Taters shall we cross appropriate/inappropriate appendages for Polar pooh?
Bumba matchin’ chikin salt and pepper shakers? Now that’s some class!
VanGo hope the knee is feelin’ better.
MOOOOOOM you should have looked all exasperated at the mansplainer and said, “I was so frustrated when my old chain saw quit right in the middle of things on Friday the 13th.”
My family lived in England from ‘85-‘85, during the Mad Cow scare, and the American Red Cross still has people who spent more than a certain amount of time in the UK during certain years on the “NO NOT YOUR BLOOD” list.
Today’s big appointment with the nurse practitioner was…anticlimactic. I’ve done (or made appointments for) everything on my checklist, but I learned that my A1C needs to drop quite a bit or they won’t do the surgery. My A1C was last checked on 6/1: I didn’t have the initial surgery consult until 6/30, and I went over all of the insurance and medical requirements with the patient coordinator a week later, but today was the first time anyone bothered to mention that my blood sugar has to be below a certain number. Anyway, I get my labs done again on 9/1. In the past three months I’ve made some changes and started taking an additional medication, so there’s a chance my A1C will be low enough, but if it’s still too high they’ll delay the insurance approval request and I’ll need to see an endocrinologist. But, they did send me home with a bunch of samples of the meal replacement products I’ll use immediately before and after surgery (so I’ll know what I like/want to order when the time comes); the taste-testing will be fun.
My weekend was great, though! Saturday night I went out for dinner and live jazz with some good friends. We went to the same venue we’ve been to a handful of times this summer: the music has been great, and the food is tasty, but we’re over the poor service and the emcee (the dude talks…and drinks…way too much). We’ll go back, just not any time soon. And Sunday was my best friend’s 61st birthday: her niece and family (hubby + four kids) and I all went over to her place for dinner, and her husband and son cooked. It was a really nice time.
Evening all. Soccer has been coached (getting 7 year olds to pay attention is not one of my best skills, but we managed) and dinner has been assimilated, watched Titans on TV (a rather dark telling (like a lot of DC products) of the Teen Titans, except they are older and with lots of baggage and violence…but somehow I like it).
Oopsie, hope the labs come out good. And glad for the good weekend.
sunny, wishing for the best for Pixel. And best of luck seeing someone.
FCM, they used to have a problem with me like that, but the nurse who does it at the clinic I frequent puts that tourniquet on hard and always gets a vein.
Nut, still hoping the housing crisis treats you well, but sounds like you have a backup plan or two.
Bumba, congrats on the successful sale.
Feel better soon, Taters.
On the blood-letting front, I was told I couldn’t donate after I came back from the UAE in 2003 due to hepatitis concerns. A+ is found in 34% of the population, so I doubt that they are running low.
OK, need to finish up some stuff and head off to bed. All y’all take care.
Well kitty might not be as bad as we thought but she’s getting very close … today she napped but walked around a bit annoyed at her back legs but they have started cooperating here and there but she can’t climb to her favorite spots so she waits for you to put her there like the princess she thinks shed is …so she’s not going to go without a fight or three …
funny story when she was still a kitten the neighbor had a tree in front of their fence and her favorite thing was to blow through the screen barrel down the driveway and up the tree and sit there for a few hours watching you look dumb and embarrassed as you tried to get her down … and when she was bored shed just jump down and stroll in the house like “I was up the tree its n ot a BFD servants”
this happened so much that the delivery guys knew me as cat tree guy and made sure she didn’t get out cause of them (Asian restaurant guy used to joke he had many tasty sauces for cats that didn’t mind ) until one day aunt had enough and she had a new longer hose and well kitty got a shower she didn’t care for and a separate after the 2nd time she stopped climbing it Well the tree started having problems so the city cut it down …
Well, kittys years older but she decided to visit her tree and it wasn’t there …the crestfallen look on her face as she pawed around where it was as she howled and was so upset she mourned and pouted and growled at us like it was out fault. all weekend I admit I laughed when I probably shouldn’t of …to this day she won’t even look in the direction the tree was …
FCD was up most of the night, so he’s crashed and when the RoxStar gets here, I’ll hustle her downstairs so we don’t disturb him. It’s the first day of school for new students so a semi-easy day for my daughter. Well as easy as it can be in the heat of the summer when you’re incubating another human within.
I’m to deliver her firstborn to her around 2:45, so it’ll be a sorta short day. I’m thinking after lunch I might just take her to the playground there by the school so I can hand her off easily. We’ll see how the day goes.
I tossed the comforter in the washer already - it’ll be out to dry by 7 - how efficient is that? In fact, I’m already showered and dressed - I didn’t want to have to go back in and disturb my sleeping sweetie. There are half a dozen eggs boiling for something - maybe I’ll devil them, maybe salad, maybe just eat them as they are. I need to vacuum, but I’ll do that after the kid has gone home.
All in all, a fairly easy day. I hope.
I’ve learned that I need to be well-hydrated before a draw, and I always tell the phlebotomist that I’m a tough stick and I show exactly where my good vein is. Since they do this for a living, they pretty much always get it on the first try. I dread the day I may need an IV again…
And on that happy thought, onward! I just let Ziva into the bedroom - she was standing at the door yelling and I didn’t want her to wake FCD. So she’s under the bed and, presumably, happy. And so it begins…
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 94 with possible rain later on today. We shall see. The big item on today’s agenda is mowage. Woo and Hoo. Sup shall be my version of Philly cheesesteaks made from the leftover pot roast and oven fries. Simple enough to make and always yummy.
shades the kitty story gave me a giggle.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Out of curiosity, I looked at my phone usage over the last 8 months. For reference, I have a Consumer Cellular AARP geezer account with monthly limits of 250 phone minutes, 500 MB data, and unlimited texting. Since mid-December, I average 143 minutes and 200MB data per month. The highest was 216 minutes, the lowest 52, the most data was 310MB, the lowest 41MB. It helps that at home, I connect via WiFi, so that data doesn’t count. But when I’m at home, I have a computer with 2 big screens, so why would I bother with my phone? I didn’t bother to total up the texts, but I know there are a lot, what with chatting and various notifications about bills and appointments and such.
With tax, this plan costs about $23/month. I’m pretty sure unlimited minutes and data would be wasted on me.
FCD didn’t sleep in after all. He’s gone to check on his car - it’s been in the shop over a week, and I’m pretty sure mostly they’ve been waiting on parts. He hates driving the truck, and he hates driving my car even more. I hope his will be done soon - I’m tired of the whining! Boys and their toys…
Well, there was poop of a sort, some time around midnight or 1:00 am. Of course, the husband couldn’t be bothered to wipe the dog’s hiney, so I had to do it when I got up at 4:00 and saw Polar outside. He was absolutely NOT thrilled about me trying to wipe his hiney, I did the best job I could for now, but the hubby will have to hold Polar’s collar while I lift his tail to do a better job. I was literally trying to hold his collar and see his back end, which is impossible to do especially when his whole back end; hips, etc. are sore and you have to be very careful where you touch him. Ugh. Here’s hoping there is more poo and it’s more solid today. And, as was mentioned in last week’s MMP, only in the MMP would we be discussing poo. Also, in my husband’s defense, he’s amazed that I can open the dog’s mouth, stick my hand in there, and give him pills without Polar fighting and doubts Polar would him do the same.
It’s back to work today, although I don’t want to. Lots to do, too little time.
I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had received another cash award. I’m not sure for what; either my close-out evaluation or 3rd quarter achievements; I’m unsure because no one told me it was coming. It’s not huge, but it’s nice to be recognized and I’m grateful.
Congrats on the successful sale, Bumba.
I’m sorry about your friend, boofae.
I hope you do find some housing, Nut.
I hope you found someone to look at Pixel, sunny.
Time for another cup of coffee. Between spending 20 minutes in trying to wipe down Polar and other various things, I’m behind in my coffee consumption.
That happened to me once. What was really perplexing - the accompanying commendation paperwork pretty much just said that I’d done my job. That’s when I figured the boss just took turns awarding the cash and it was my turn. It made it less special, but I still took it and spent it.
Texted SIL - haven’t heard from him and usually he’s brought Roxy by now. I just hope he’s not crashed out while she runs amok. He has insomnia issues and I’d hate to think he’s unconscious leaving a 3-y/o to her own devices.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand he just texted back. All that worry for nothing. She’ll be here soon then.
our youngest just above kitten is well large round and furry and her butt cleaning skills in fact most of her self care skills are rather suspect …so who gets to clean the cat? me of course … and of course shes hostile to it … which means i get the growling and hissing and clawing and such … i wish it wasnt so expensive for a groomer …she needs a shave badly wed do it our selves but no one wants to die …
Ziva needs the mats near her butt shaved, but it’s $160! I could do it myself, but she hates to be held, so I can imagine how she’d feel with me holding her down with one hand and using clippers in the other. I wonder if a kitty chill-pill would help?
No RoxStar yet. I had enough time to push the vacuum around and suck up copious quantities of cat hair. FCD just left for a meeting. And I wait for the arrival of the child.
Morning all. Stayed up (for reasons unknown) until 12:30am, so of course my body got me up about 7:00am, so nappage is again a probability. 12U boys soccer today, the weather looks nice but the high is going to be 93F. Glad my practice field is where there is some shade for both parents and players (and coaches).
Other than that, not much on the agenda.
Taters, extra cash is always a nice ‘attaboy/girl’ for us working folk. Good on ya.
OK, onto the rest of the morning internet explorations.
