Bacon & Horseradish potato chips

From Herr’s.

I can’t decide if I should be intrigued or horrified.
Of course, since I was actually searching for Steak & Worcestershire flavor, maybe I can’t complain.
It seems there are so many new flavors of chips coming out. Has anyone tried any of these exotic ones?

Bacon and horseradish. Hmmm…
Haven’t tried them yet but I like bacon (food of the gods) and horseradish.
I’ll be looking for them. BTY steak and worstchischierinceriece sauce is a good combo!

I think it sounds great. I love bacon-horseradish sour cream dip for chips, so Herr’s has just made the eating easier. Kinda pricey though. $24 for 12 6 oz. bags. That’s about $5 a pound, innit?

You’re kidding, right? This is surely the food that the Greeks had in mind when they talked of ambrosia, the food of the gods.

That sounds delicious.

Sounds good to me, both varieties.

My local Albertson’s only started stocking Herr’s potato chips in the last year, like a “test market” sort of item. I think they’re from Pennsylvania. They only carry three varities so far: regular (why bother?), barbecue (not bad), and Heinz ketchup-flavored chips, which are AMAZING. I tried them because they sounded weird, but they’re surprisingly awesome. If I see either the bacon-horseradish or steak ‘n’ worcestershire kinds, I will try them too.

Since other chip fans are reading, I should note that Lay’s brand-new kettle chips are delicious, especially the jalapeno variety. Some of the best chips I’ve ever had; better than Krunchers, possibly even better than my beloved Zapps chips from Louisiana. I can’t recommend them highly enough, if you’re in the market for fatty, salty, crunchy snacks.

I also have vague memories of Snyder’s of Hanover, the company that makes those good flavored pretzel pieces, coming out with potato chips in exotic flavors: buffalo wing, steak and onion, and barbecued rib. I tried the rib ones, much to my college roommates’ disgust, and they weren’t too different from typical barbecue chips; not bad, but not worth the premium, since they cost much more than Lay’s or Ruffles. I haven’t seen these in years – maybe they didn’t sell very well.

Snyder’s of Hanover’s makes the best kettle chips ever… they rip your fums to shreds from sheer crunchiness.

My favorite is parmesan and garlic.

Owww, my bleedin’ fums!

I found the Steak & Worcestershire too salty, made me miss Steak & Onion from Snyders of Berlin (IIRC).

Poore Bros. also makes a Steak and Onion that are delish.

On the subject of Herr’s, I like their Honey Cheese Curls.

Well I’m intrigued.

And it’s not as weird as the dill pickel flavoured chips I had a while back (they were pretty good, but I haven’t seen them since, I’m afraid they didn’t make it pass the test stage).

And we still have a lot of catching up to do with the British who have prawn flavoured crisp, roast chicken, lamb…I got the ideat they were trying to do for chips what Willie Wonka did for chewing gum (although I never turned into a giant prawn).

Helluva Good Bacon and Horseradish Dip IS the food of the gods regaurdless of what flavor chip you are using.

China has some really rancid sounding potatoe chip flavors. Squid, mexican and some others. I remember having a pringles style can I gave to my nephews, who were going out to a high school football game with their buddies, that was shrimp and seaweed flavor. I’m sure it had never been seen before or since in the state of Colorado. :o

Bacon and Horseradish chips sound but pretty damn good but I recommend avoiding their Old Bay flavored chips. I like Old Bay seasoning so when I saw the chips, I thought “what the hell”.
They are so strongly flavored that it is like eating Old Bay with a spoon straight out of the can. Blech.

The Brits have us beat when it comes to chip flavors. Some good, some odd.

One of the most basic but most fantastically delish is Cheese & Onion flavor. Pringles was making Cheese & Onion flavor in the US a couple of years ago bt they disappeared, so I guess they didn’t catch on. Surprising, since I think I was eating my weight in them every week.
They also have yummy flavors like Beef & Onion, Roast Beef & Mustard (I think), Pickled Onion, Chicken flavor, Worcestershire Sauce, Bacon flavor.

Yum! The only one I had that I didn’t like was the Roast Beef & Mustard one. It wasn’t bad, just weird.

Oh, and I should probably metion Australian Burger Rings and various brands of Chicken flavor chips. Also yum!

Tim’s Cascade-Style potato chips have a dill pickle flavor. Pretty good, too. Check here for a look at the variety of flavors available.

Another vote for Bacon & Horseradish sounding awesome. Dangit, living in the midwest sucks. Seems we don’t have any cool or unusual tater chip flavors. Well, we do have Lay’s Limon chips, which are addictive. I’d love to try those Steak & Worcestershire and Ketchup chips too.

Utz has a “North Carolina Barbecue” flavor chip. It’s a combination of Vinegar flavor and BBQ flavor, yummmmm. They also have a “crab chip” flavored with Old Bay but either it’s not as overpowering as other brands or else I just like Old Bay better than melondeca because I can about destroy a bag of those.
