Bath & Body Works

I agree with you Lissa. I used to buy stuff there all the time.
Now my impression of their scents is that they smell cheap.

I don’t mean cheap as is “trampish”, but cheap is in poorly made.
Their perfumes, at least to me, reek of an alcohol undertone. Everything smells very ‘chemical’ to me now.

trampish? like me? i’m not cheap or poorly made…

I got the buy three get one free deal also. I’m going to go back and get the warm vanilla sugar lotion this week. I also have a coupon for free Gardenia body spray with a $10.00 purchase.

I have to say I havent noticed any difference in the concentration/smell of any of the B&BW items. This stuff has me so spoiled that I dont even buy any drugstore lotions anymore. I’ll buy drugstore showers gels however because I go through them so quickly.

When I first tried Vanilla Sugar body butter on my hands I was really turned off by the smell. But after about 20 minutes it smelled great so I guess it’s just a body chemistry thing!

FairyChatMom: I suggest you invest in a small-size lotion of Sweet Pea. My mother (also a light-scent person) seems near in age to you, and it’s the one B&B Works scent she likes on herself.

Marconi: Ten times better is the lotion-soap version. It’s sitting by my sink at home. I’ve find all sorts of new reasons to wash my hands!

My favorites:
Warm Vanilla Sugar anything everyone knows that the scent of vanilla is a powerful aphrodisiac for guys, right?
Sun-Ripened Raspberry lotion - the spray smells like chemicals
Jasmine Vanilla anything - a new aromatherapy scent that I wear when I’m more dressy

But the BEST smelling stuff is the guy scents! YUM! I wish they marketed them more, because they do a great job making them. The aftershaves are the best. Unfortunately no guy will be caught dead in B&B Works…

My husband would! He loves their scents for men, but gets mad because the minute he starts really liking one, they discontinue it and when he goes back for more it’s no longer for sale. He also likes their home fragrance/“aromatherapy” section; he likes finding good fragrances for our place, most of them woodsy or “fresh” smelling.

I used to live for BBW - my favorite scent was Happy Daisy. Now I haven’t been in in years - I make my own soap, and don’t use lotion much.

I loved their Cucumber Melon and used the shower gel and lotion. But Avon now has the C/M flavor in their Naturals line and it smells much better and is cheaper, and I like that I can put money in my neighbor’s pocket instead of Gap Co. so I’m buying the Avon.

But I still use B&BW Citrus Herb antibacterial liquid hand soap and Kitchen lemon hand soap in my kitchen, because I have a bunch. When it runs out, I may see what Avon has to compete.

I used to like B&B Works, but the scents give me headaches now - it’s like they’re all just way too heavy. I’ve discovered the Body Shop and I only buy from there now - they’re a little bit more expensive, but everything is lighter. My favorite is the cranberry, but that only seems to be around at Christmastime. I do like their passionfruit melon shower gel - it’s got a yummy smell:). And their body butter is AMAZING - the coconut makes my skin REALLY soft.

Susan, I knew I liked you. Happy Daisy was my favorite as well. I loved it to death. And then, as you all could expect, discontinued…

I am a total Cotton Blossom gal since it came out!
My HUGE bitch (and yes, I have complained to the company) is that they only sold the cologne as a limited edtion type thing!!

Arrgh! Do they really expect me to use the shower gel, lotion and then mess up that beautiful smell with different cologne??
And don’t go telling me that they have the body sprays, cuz I have that too and it’s not the same!!

If there is anyone out there who works for B&B please explain to your over-payed ceo’s that it was a very smart idea to include cologne with your fragrances… REALLY BAD IDEA TO ONLY SELL IT FOR A LIMITED TIME!!!

Thank you for letting me vent!

Back when I was in high school, I remember ALL the girls were wearing some kind of honeysuckle spray from B&BW. A mildly pleasant smell soon became a rolling cloud of stench, and I hate it to this day… oh how I prayed for the killer bees to come…

All these lotions you’re talking about sound much better! My wife likes the shop Lush, or any place that has those fizzy bath balls.

Hey, do you guys know about JELLYBATH ???

http://www.jellybath.com/

I used to watch their Quicktime movie advertisement to relax. Select “Product Info” at the bottom, the “How2” to see the link to the movie.

Warm Vanilla Sugar and Cucumber Melon are my fav’s, hubby says raspberry makes me smell delicious and irresistible.

Too many to list them all. Current favs include[ul]Moonlight Path
Juniper Breeze
Citrus Cream (smells like orange cake to me)
Eucalytus Spearmint (great scent when I have a migraine - I have the aromatherapy oil)
Night Blooming Jasmine[/ul]I must spend a couple of hundred dollars a year at that place.

just got the grapefruit peppermint sugar scrub and lotion today. love the scrub.

My favorites were Happy Daisy and Freesia. Both no longer. :frowning:

susan, scout, rasa, I’m with you. Happy Daisy body spray in that little spray bottle was so great in the summer! With all of us, how could it not be profitable?

There’s another cucumber one, not melon, and it comes in the sparkly lotion stuff.

So far the only one of thiers I can stand, I’m a light, green scent kinda girl, and when B&BW goes green they usually head musky. Clean, soft, green scents. Like weeds after rain.

I love that Healing Hands cream they sell. It’s really thick and rich. My hands get really dry in the winter, and that stuff helps.

I’ve learned not to get too attached to any of the scents, because they always discontinue the ones I like.
I do like Cucumber Melon, Moonlight Path and Cotton Blossom, though.

Watch, they’ll discontinue all three of them next week…

My wife has not felt the need to go into a Bath and Body Works after discovering www.lush.com. Lush’s stuff smells and works so much better it’s not even funny. (Note, the site for mail-order to the US is in Canada, so those are Canadian dollars.)
