Batten The Hatches- A Dark and Stormy MMP

Woohoo! I win a wet front!

Considering the weather many of us are getting, that comment has some double entendre thing going!

I finally met up with the guy I was splitting a bag of professional rat food with, and the list of creatures listed on the side of the bag (that the company also offers food for) is so hilariously comprehensive.

Camel.
Flamingo.
Shark and Ray.

… and more!

I remembered that I had a poke butt that I wanted to slow-cook for pulled poke. It’s in the crock pot with onions and BBQ sauce to begin its day of cookage. It should smell yummy in here soon.

FCD tried to run out to McD’s for breakfast, but the road to Leonardtown was still blocked. So he ran to Wawa, but he said they were out of everything. I made him breakfast, like I offered before he said he’d go get something…

Dunno when I’ll get to walk. Daughter had a bad night so she went back to bed and I’m wrangling Roxy. Maybe in a bit I’ll take her outside to play while I pick up sticks. Not as vigorous as a walk, but still a bit of exercise, especially considering the size of our yard.

More rain threatened for tomorrow. I hope it’s just little showers.

And as I typed that, daughter came out, so I’m going to take a quick-ish turn around the block…

Happy Hump Day!

It’s a very nice 64 degrees outside, the sun is shining, the humidity is low, and the high predicted to be 84.

I got the brats off to daycare. I was going to ask them to keep an eye in Echo and her attitude, but Ripple growled at the irker that came out to get them. She thinks it’s the mask, but he hasn’t growled at anybody else.

I need to call the lawn guy this morning. He called last night and irk was so busy I couldn’t answer the phone. The message he left is a bit garbled, so I’m not sure what he said. I’m supposed to go to the MVA today, but if he is coming to fix my toilet, that is more important. I never could get through to the MV to see if they could switch the appointment to my son’s name.

Lots of stuff to do today, just not sure what will get done.

I know a lot of people like them, but I think vessel sinks are very inconvenient.

Howdy Y’all! I survived the layin’ in of provisions as did OYKW. The Pubic Sto’ had good shrimp, so shrimpies 'n grits with grilled asparagus for sup. YUM!

I have a compartmental sink but it’s deep. Got a deep sink when we did the kitchen remodel and I really like that it’s deep. I can actually set a large pot in the sink to fill with water or clean. It takes so little to make me happy. I should be a little more high maintenance.

I think I would have voted for him/her just on the strength of that name.

Down, boy! Sit!

MetalMouse, there are three webcomics I read regularly: Freefall, The Whiteboard, and Darths & Droids. D&D is on strip #1874; TWB is on #3128. Plenty of reading for you there.

Certainly nothing that needs protecting from me!

The hurricane bypassed us well to the west. A little bit or rain, no thorms, and not a great deal of wind that I noticed, but we did lose power for a few hours. Now NOS and 75, with a predicted high of 86. Have to see how much more I can get done on the front hedge before my back starts objecting too strongly…

My walk happened later than I’d hoped because FCD needed Daughter in the office for a bit. But I did the shorter but not shortest route. The trees that were down across the roads have been cleared. The yard that was flooded is now mostly drained. I heard lots of chain saw sounds.

Now, to convince Roxy that picking up sticks is fun!!!

Good morning all. Stayed up until nearly 1am reading so slept until 0830 (because I can). Fast has been broken by a Big Bowl O’Cereal and hamburgers and buns are defrosting for tonight. 84F already heading for 86F they say, no sign of rain. May have to consider watering the yard Firday if no precipitation shows up.

FCM, find some way to make it fun and she’ll get into it.

herald, The Whiteboard has been on my list for a couple years now, even if I’ve never played paintball in my life. Need to check out Darth & Droids, severla other folks have mentioned them.

Sari, I’m with you, vessel sinks never have made much sense to me.

Shoe, wonder how they determined what Sharks and Rays like to eat…

Got the Virtual Railfan on the other tab, Ft. Madison Iowa gets 60+ trains a day and has a swinging bridge across the Mississippi for barges/tows. Nice entertainment for those who like trains.

All y’all take care now.

I kinda wanna make this for dinner:

So half the belts in the hub broke. :grimacing: We still got things sorted, it just meant running boxes back and forth in a 100,000 square foot warehouse with more zig zags than a drunk on St. Patrick’s Day. I also now know the is a street in the country called Calders Nub, likey named by the ex-Mrs. Calder.

I don’t think Ray wants to be eaten by sharks.

Me, too.

Also, it’s Underwear Day, so swampy can break out the gold lamé thong.

My favorite is: “If it isn’t one thing, it’s two!”

I hate kitchen sinks, period. They’re all too low due to building codes, and I have to bend over a little to wash anything in 'em, causing my back to complain, a lot.

I have to admit to reading Girl Genius. I don’t know why I like it. I just do.

Got up twice in the night to let Gibbs out. I have to put his bark collar on however. He loves to bark at the deer who sleep under our back deck. I have to assume it’s annoying to the neighbors, and I don’t want to be that neighbor.

I’m gonna hafta check out that virtual railfan site.

Dang! Do I hafta? Some hot days (like today) I wear a bathing suit all day. Or sweat shorts. Or…

Where have I heard that story before …??

I can’t help but think of how much fun you & Ruble would have trading these stories over a beer or 47. The kitties played hide & seek with a Jungle box last night, which made me sad.

I supose I could bring a Ouija board and order two(dozen) brews next time I go to the pub. :cocktail:

{{{{{Miss_Owl}}}}

I thought The Thong was formal wear, not underwear.

Show me yours, I’ll show you mine.

Paint guy’s been here and gone. Now to await the estimate… :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

I kinda hope there will be pictures…Yes, I know there’s a rule about pictures but…I’m trying to get to know you all better and that oughta do it.

When you look up TMI in the dictionary, Swampy is mentioned.

I am SOOOOO glad I voted yesterday. So glad. I doubt my little vote made much of a difference, but I was so excited to see the things I voted for actually go forward.

Anyway, spent the day with my mom at the doctor. No biggie - she has an annual appointment for her transplant and I go with her every year. She’s the type who, regardless of what she’s going through, if you ask her, “How are you doing?” she’ll say, “Great! I’m just fine,” even to a doctor and even if she’s not fine. So she asks me to come along with her.

Other than that, the day has been pretty chill. All the midyear reviews that I needed to complete are completed. I’ve finished bugging contracting. I bugged another department about team training. I ate some Hotbox cookies. Kids are doing their own thing. Husband is working downstairs. All is quiet for 30 seconds until it’s not anymore, or until I check on my teenaged son who has disappeared into his room for the last 3 hours, presumably to play video games with friends.

Howdy Y’all! We have supped and are stuffded. OYKW grilled asparagus and I whomped up the shrimpies 'n grits. Life is good.

How often do I need to explain that the gold lame thong, the bedazzled tube top, and the monogrammed flipflops are for only the most formal of occasions. Also why do we need a national underwear day. Underwear, like tp, is a daily essential. Also, no ratty underwear folks. I know y’alls mommas taught y’all better!
