Batten The Hatches- A Dark and Stormy MMP

Happy Thorsday!

It was beautiful at the park this morning. I was actually a little bit chilly, but then I’m always a little bit chilly. It’s 72 degrees out now, and partially cloudy. Supposed to get up to 79 and rain later.

Echo was a good girl this morning. She was nice with Toby, even though she doesn’t really like him. I don’t know if she ever met Winnie before, but she played nicely with her too.

I should do some laundry, maybe, maybe not. I have some stuff coming from da jungle. Stuff I ordered accidentally, but is okay, it will get used. There is always vacuuming and dusting.

Cleaning baseboards is a bitch, I hate doing that. Mine aren’t painted though.

Thanks to both of you. It’s hard to believe he’s been gone almost 6 months.

Doggie, I’m not sure how on earth you could have smuggled him anywhere. He was a little bit noticeable!!

When I started to create this response, I got the following notice from the board. Clearly the board does not understand the MMP (not that I understand it either …). So, feel free to get involved and share your perspectives!!

Encourage everyone to get involved in the conversation

You’ve replied 3 times to @dogbutler in this particular topic!

A great discussion involves many voices and perspectives. Can you get anybody else involved?

And don’t forget, if you’d like to continue your conversation with this particular user at length outside of public view, send them a personal message.

Morning all. Up at 4am due to kidneys and the light blinking on my alarm–and on the microwave and range, so power was off sometime in the darkness. I did get some rain late, but didn’t hear any tunder-boomers. All is well now, and garbage has been transferred to the curb for pickup.

Heading for 87F this afternoon, so while I’m thinking about edging the lawn, no guarantees.

boo fae, when they do get around to interviewing you, I wonder if they’ll apologize or not for the FUBAR. That may tell you something.

elf, glad it wasn’t any worse.

nellie, you’re not the only one who misses him. Good People.

Thel, well-done. I have 4 cans of soup I need to donate somewhere, wish I lived closer.

OK, Chocolate Breakfast drink has been mixed and drank, so on with the morning. All y’all have a good Thorsday.

I’m assuming that’s irony.

According to Veritiv Corporation, it’s coming up on August 26. Mark your calendars!!

Actually, it’s ignorance. I do have the cans, but I’ve almost always eat what I buy, and since I’m not a church-going type I’m reluctant to go ‘browsing’ through them to find a donate box and giving only 4 cans to a food bank seems rather small (but I keep very little extra about). Add to it a fair amount of ennui, and I really do not know what to do with them.

Leave them on a bus stop bench. Someone will pick them up.

Or hang on to them. Might need them one of these days.

OMG, MissOwl - that’s the day my daughter closes on her house. Guess I know what her housewarming gift will be! :toilet:

Just back from my walk. I decided to walk down towards the closed sect of Rt 5 to see what’s going on. In the space of maybe a quarter of a mile, there are 2 electronic signs and 4 bright neon diamond signs with such messages as Road Closed, Detour, and Local Traffic Only .5 Miles. I couldn’t tell you how many cars I saw drive past all of those signs, get to the barrier where a couple of highway dept employees sat in a truck with flashing lights. They set the traffic barrels just past the driveway to the middle school bus lot, and most everyone had to drive in there to turn around and head back from whence they came. EVEN the commercial vehicles - you’d think they’d notice the signs. Apparently illiteracy is a bigger problem in this county than I ever suspected.

I asked the guys at the barrier if I was allowed to walk down there (I was nosy) but they said no, so I circled around the middle school and headed back. Not hot but very humid - I’m glad to be back in the a/c. Time to gather my laundry, I guess…

I’m sure Swampy will approve. Maybe he’ll even put on The Thong and deliver it in person! :roll_of_toilet_paper: :roll_of_toilet_paper: :roll_of_toilet_paper:

Dang, I missed the :roll_of_toilet_paper: emoji…

What? I hope the mods can figure out a way to put an end to that kind of rubbish. It’s not exactly in keeping with our kind of board, is it?

You’ll all be pleased to hear that the interview went ahead at 10.30am, with apols from the guy in charge about the miscommunication. They don’t seem to know anything about it so no idea what went on there. Still, as interviews go, it wasn’t the worst. Should hear today or tomorrow but as usual, I don’t expect much.

Mooom how will you cope with so many roads closed? Will you have to get the TP helicopter’d in?

metalmouse might not work for you but I’ve often left stuff on the front wall with a note on it so people walking past can see it’s going begging. Which reminds me, I have a bag of dry cat food to leave out, my pair have turned their noses up at it.

The upside might be if you got the job you could coast or slide on a lot of things…not saying you would, just that you could in a pinch or on a bad day.

Please, please, please come over to my baseboards when you’re done. I’ll move all the furniture and dust hedgehogs out of your way.

Thank you for ferreting this out for us and letting us know Old_Wench, you’re on a roll!

Both really good ideas. If you walk past any Little Libraries on your daily strolls you could also pop them in one of those. Would be a pleasant surprise for someone whose budget was tight or couldn’t get to the store.

Boo

It sounds like it was a miscommunication and they were very apologetic about it so I feel better about that. The team is basically the guy in charge and two other people managing a fraction of what we do…they have 5K students on campus, we have 40K students so there’s not much room for letting things slide if there’s only two of you doing it all

Sounds like they are good folk. A lot to be said for people who say “there was a mistake. We’re sorry”. Wishing you :crossed_fingers:t2:with the outcome of the interview, hope it goes exactly the way you would like.

Not with my kilt…

Thel, that is beyond odd.

MetalMouse, how long did you live in Abu Dhabi? I thought Bahrain and Dubai (especially the latter) were great places to visit, but I wouldn’t want to spend more than two or three weeks there at a time.

I have some y’all can practice on…

Took a few hours away from the computer yesterday afternoon to finish my book and start the next one. Supper was beef-heart stew, which turned out really well.

And this BS is really beginnin to get on my nerves:

Especially when I have to click on ‘OK’ five or six times to close the [expletive deleted] popup!

I was going to say, “ewwwww,” but then I remembered how much I love velveeta and figured I’d better can it. I love the idea of a free pantry - I think that’s amazing.

This morning has been bright and beautiful so far. My son went off on his bike before 9:30 to play disc golf with his friends, which is unheard of since he ordinarily sleeps until noon. My daughter, on the other hand, woke up super snotty and with a scratchy throat. Of course, I immediately assumed it’s the 'rona, but it’s probably more likely to be allergies since she played outside all day yesterday. Anyway, I’ll be overthinking that all day.

The best use for velveeta IMHO is to make a little wad of it to conceal a dog pill. (I will be doing that shortly. :dog:)

Impossible not to! I have health anxiety during good times. This thing has my health-o-meter registering off the dial.

But wouldn’t the Velveeta be ruined when you sealed the canning jar in the pressure cooker?:smirk:

Not odd at all. Open the can, pour on some quality poppyseed salad dressing, grab a fork and head for the couch.

Another mangled post. I’m sorry. Some of it is my user error, some is %^#!!)*@!! auto-correct on my iPad.
