Battlestar Galactica 2.6 — "Home, Pt. 1" (open spoilers)

IS futile.
OIANAC.
Obviuosly I Am Not A Cylon.

You know, if Harrison Ford were to guest-star, he could run the test on all the crew and spot the rep- I mean, Cylons.

Adama would have to change from cracking nuts to making origami, though.

I was wondering about that…

Is it common for people to crack walnuts with their bare hands? I mean, I can smash them with my hands, but for just plain cracking I use a nutcracker.

Then again, Adama wasn’t cracking them for eating so much as cracking them for the hell of it, right?

I thought that bit was weird.

-Joe

It had to be a nod to “The Caine Mutiny”, in which the half-mad Captain Queeg (played by Humphrey Bogart) had a habit of rolling ball bearings in his hand when under stress.

I can crack them with my hands about 90% of the time, and I dress out at 120 lbs wringing wet.

It’s not common to see a major star bust a nut on TV.

Well, if Adama starts getting impatient about his strawberries, we’ll know something is very wrong.

“Let me tell you about my Mother Body.”
Isn’t that what Sharon said the Cylons are all linked to? Or did I mis-hear? Kind of an important little bit of background buried in a throwaway line, yes?

I would like to know more about the “Mother Body” myself. It sounded like an important concept. I hope there’s no Collective Borg or whatever it’s called (not a Star Trek watcher).

Yes, but what could it be? Either the Cylons think collectively, considering things then coming to a group-mind decision, or there’s an upper echelon somewhere making decisions and passing it along.

Originally, there were the talking toasters. There was one on display in the Galactica’s museum during the miniseries. Someone back during the first Cylon war was able to sign the armistice on behalf of the Cylons, beginning the 40 years of peace.

Eventually, the talking toasters were replaced by non-talking Centurians, and human models. It appears the Centurians mostly do what they’re told. Who knows if they’re even self-aware anymore? The human models certainly seem self-aware, although Roslyn seems to think they’re still just following some sort of programming.

The human models don’t seem to have come up with “the plan,” they just believe in it, and are carrying it out.

So who is making the big decisions?

I have a hard time with a lot of dialog on this show. Either I’m getting old or there’s something seriously screwed up with the gain on the SciFi Channel. I keep having to crank up the volume on the shows and then the damn commercials blast me out of my seat.

something like this guy?
I think it would make sense to have another cylon type somewhere between the Centurian and human model that we haven’t yet seen.

I like the idea that the Cylons believe in God, much as humans do. In other words, it’s a belief, not a physical “Master Computer” that calls itself God.

However, that doesn’t count out the possibility of there being a Master Computer/Super Cylon “Prophet” somewhere …

<bishop> “I’m not sure. It must be something we haven’t seen yet.” </b>

More like this guy.

I have a different problem in that I have a girlfriend who has never had a thought pass through her head that didn’t immediately come out of her mouth…

I usually just attribute it to that.

Funny, though, when I watched my Sky One episodes I never had problems - so maybe it is just Sci-Fi?

Regarding the Cylon God, well, gods tend to come about because people X can’t explain occurrence Y.

What would the Cylons be unable to comprehend?

-Joe

How humans were able to kick their ass.

Why they can’t define Pi.

If the refrigerator door closes with no one inside it, does the light go out?

BTW, buying miso and rice crackers at Sam’s Oriental Grocery this evening, I saw the hair dye/rinse/whatever Boomer uses.
If I buy enough fish soup I’ll run into her, right?
That stuff’s vile, though…

Why Quatum Physics and Realitivily don’t follow the same rules(or so it seems)

Something has been bothering me. The cylons and humans were at peace for 40 years, right? I put commander Adama in his 50s. How did he become “The great Colonial Ace Husker” . He was still in puberty when the armistice was signed.
I use the official web site as my source. Are the colonial humans’ life span longer than ours. I know it is possible to be an ace in you teens but damned unlikely.

I always figured he would have joined in his early 20’s, which would put him in his early 60’s now, and Tigh probably in his mid to late 60’s.
