Cooled off some, from the crazy, unseasonably hot weather we’ve been having. I have a fire going, trying to burn some brush I cut last fall. Sadly, not seeing many bats this year. I know there is a “bat plague” that’s been killing them for a few years. God knows there are plenty of mosquitos and deer flies to be consumed! Other than that, great evening. Drinking beer, rocking out.
My music player decided to pull up The Stones, “Live In Brussells”, often considered their best. I’m agreeing.
Oh yeah. Bad as it might sound I spent a half day moving horse manure from A to B. A necessary chore for me this summer. By four o’clock I was ready for cocktail hour. An hour outside with cocktail in hand was relaxing enough. Now I’m inside with dinner and the SDMB. A great day indeed.
Just put in my garden sumo pump and enjoying a beer before going in. It’s got chilly suddenly: 13C.
Still better than the day in late October when I’ll have to take it in: usually around 1 or 2 Celsius, and me mucking around in the sump with bare hands getting wet and cold.
23 Celsius here at 2240 in North Alabama. No skeeters I have noticed. Some of the corn here is about a foot high, and soybeans, etc., are about an inch high. Hoping for some kind of harvest at some point.
The trains at Moontown, Dug Hill, and Ryland Crossing have been silent a few days. The guy at the corner Texaco told me a couple of days ago there was a derailment—wonder why I haven’t seen any news about that… Those trains bring Wyoming low-sulfur coal to steam plants around Chattanooga, and they usually deadhead back to WY. (As much as I wanted to be a train man long ago, I’m just not feeling it right now.)
Well.
